  1. Some of the flares were added in post. They always knew they wanted to use flares as part of the story-telling... so some of them are very intentional. I'd also love to read more about the photography, if anyone has any more info.
  2. I know I've already told you how cool these images are, but hell... they're really good. Love the soft use of light... you're a natural at this Chayse. Can't wait to see it completed.
  3. This may sound like i'm kidding, but i wish someone had told me... Remember to Eat. Seriously.
  4. 1. Robert Elswit 2. Harris Savides 3. Emmanuel Lubeski 4. Steven Soderberg 5. Frank Griebe They've all done work which inspires me photography-wise.
  5. Here's some of my maybe-maybe-not art. From a series called "a thousand words":
  6. Children of Men has a brilliant opening shot.
  7. 2001. That stuck with me for a few years.
  8. A Red one would be cool. *Ducks for cover!*
  9. Personally, even the slightest overscan on an LCD TV bothers the hell out of me, because the composition feels off -- so I don't know.
  10. Nice. I'm actually just getting into Twitter. So yeah, you're followed John. ;) www.twitter.com/ayz
  11. Who knows sir. I'm talking about what I see. Sometimes even when the shutter is at 180degrees, I perceive a softness to the motion in HD. It's slight, but it's there. Most recent example was Zodiac for me. Btw -- I dig HD/Digital. So that's not my point. Just curious what is causing this softness.
  12. I agree with Max here. I could tell Superbad was HD, even though I had no prior knowledge going in. Night scenes in particular. The Lookout got by me for the most part, but even there it wasn't perfect. The Kingdom also. I actually didn't notice it on Before the Devil though, so curious to revisit it now. For me it's really the motion artifacts that tip the hand the most.
  13. Wow. Good luck trying to get the film distributed while trying to hide from everyone involved. This makes about zero sense to me. Unless they meant to make the film for private viewings only, and to pass down as a keepsake to family members. Then it's brilliant. I hope you find them Aaron. Good luck.
  14. You could try mandy.com, and check canadian listings. good luck.

    Uwe Boll

Bloodrayne is endlessly watchable in a "wow i can't believe this exists" type of way. I love how he "expects" a pro-boll petition. If i think it, they will come.
  16. May I suggest director's commentaries? Even the not-so-swell ones teach you new things. No better resource for learning. Well besides experience.
  17. There's no general guideline concerning delivery. Good actors will find a rhythm to the dialogue, and its always different from film to film. Mamet's dialogue may be delivered with a certain snap, while something out of a malick film may have more contemplative feel to it. Another film might call for something more natural to the ear. It's always different. It's the directors job to figure out what feels right for each particular film/scene, and not apply some arbitrary rule of thumb.
  18. I'm fairly certain the shot of plainview and the baby on the train was shot using the pathe lens.
