  1. There will always be a need for physical media from people who appreciate movies and how they are supposed to look and sound.
  2. Speaking of Michael Bay Car Chases, has anyone spotted that he used the same footage on The Island and Transformers: Dark Of The Moon? Just CGI a busted transformer and bobs your uncle.
  3. Well, Marvel Studios has just announced that a directors cut with some 30 minutes of additional footage is going to be released theatrically towards the end of the year.
  4. The film was quite dark (not literally) The humor just lightened it somewhat.
  5. As long as it doesn't get excessive, I believe hand held camera shots can bring a lot to an action story.
  6. I believe this will be a defining moment for the Bond franchise.
  7. I'm in the process of upgrade my favorite DVD's with Blu-rays. I have a collection of over 800 DVD's of which probably 2/3rds I want to upgrade. Gonna be a long and very expensive process.
  8. I watched it over the weekend. Whilst it was visually phenomenal, I just felt there was something missing, that spark.
  9. Looking forward to seeing just what the next Marvel Movie will be.
  10. James Stewart was the All American Hero, one of a few who actually lived up to their hype, unlike certain other "heroes" I could mention cough cough John Wayne cough cough.
  11. I think it's definitely wiser to spend the money on a decent projector and set up than it is to buy one of those so called smart tvs and still pay for cinema tickets.
  12. After my IMAX 3D experience with The Avengers. I am seriously thinking of NOT seeing this in 3D, even if he does swear by it.
  13. HD broadcasts are shown in 16:9 format. When shown on a 4:3 TV you will get black bars top and bottom.
  14. Watched the Avengers over the weekend. Thoroughly enjoyed it, especially The Hulk. Avoid the 3D if you can, it was pretty bad. Lots of crosstalk and fast moving scenes induced nausea and eyestrain. Certain scenes had that soap opera feel that you get when watching a TV demo in a shop. Audio was outstanding though.
  15. I have heard that any improvements over 2K are not visible to the human eye at close range (ie at home)
  16. Out of curiosity are there any plans to introduce 4K monitors, other than front projectors?
  17. Although I never saw this theatrically, the Blu-ray really captured the frigid surroundings in Sweden. Whenever the action took place outdoors I actually wanted to grab a jumper.
