  1. Having a lens that only shoots wide open is too limiting, it will make your shooting a nightmare Why not try to find a proper S16 zoom...some of the zeiss S16 zooms come up for quite reasonable sums.
  2. "I have mixed feelings about lowering the ISO in bright daylight situations -- the lower noise does feel like switching to a finer-grained slower film stock, but on the other hand, there tends to be a lot of bright highlights in day situations where 800 ISO has an easier time dealing with those than 400 ISO. " David, is this because sensors behave like film stocks...the lower the film asa , the higher the contrast.?
  3. One last thing always put some gaffa tape or camera tape over the top of the filter slide plastic grip to stop light leaking into the camera...whether you have a filter in it or not...it's a notorious light leak problem.
  4. Also this. http://www.knightoptical.com/stock/optical-components/uvvisnir-optics/filters/neutral-density-filters/gelatine-neutral-density-filters/
  5. This may help. http://cameramarket.eu/data/pdf/cameramarket_eclair_acl_02.pdf
  6. The ACL has a special metal filter slide which fits into the top of the camera so that the filter is between the lens and the shutter. They take gelatin filters ie the flexible , usually kodak filters, which can be cut to size for the filter slide. Be VERY VERY careful when using the filter slide as it has been known to hit the pendulum mirror and damage it. if it is inserted badly. You will have to google for a supplier of gelatin filters.
  7. Never tried this but it looks logical. http://nofilmschool.com/2015/08/mounting-dji-ronin-gimbal-steadicam-reverse-shooting
  8. I can't tell the difference...I feel I've wasted my ticket price on the Revenant now.
  9. Looks like a stability problem on the camera or the film scan.
  10. I did make one for canon dslrs a few years back. basically a switch on the grip wired into a cheap IR remote (ebay) then wired to an IR sender bulb on a flexible piece of thick wire. Took ages to build but worked fine...I now see them on ebay from China for £5! The trouble is its yet another piece of kit strapped onto the camera along with all the other bits of kit strapped onto the camera! I may look into soldering a wires onto the top handle on/off button with a two pin socket for a switch wire... after consultation with a pal of mine who's in the electronics trade. When will they invent a 'finished' camera.
  11. The remote number is RM-F300.
  12. Unfortunately not. As a last resort I'll probably solder a couple of wires and fit a socket from the top handle switch ( research to be done on this first! ) but I'd rather go a simpler route if possible.
  13. I've been trying for ages to find a way of remotely start stopping the rec on a sony F3 via some sort of switch that could be attached to my handlebar grips to make shoulder shooting easier. Does anyone have any suggestions.
  14. Apparently a Lanc controller can be used as an on/off switch on the Blade, does anyone know a simple one. I want to use one as an on/off switch on a handlebar.
  15. Thanks for all the info guys. ..thanks Robin, the LUT viewing problem is the only shorcoming of the F3 as far as I can find, I'll get there somehow!
  16. Thanks for the info...do you think it would be possible to hand calibrate from slog input to a screen rec709 viewing lut using the Blades colour controls?
  17. Or has anyone got experience of a Lut box used on camera?
  18. I use the Ninja Blade on an F3, which is great for recording prores. However does anyone know a recorder that has built in viewing luts ( rec 709) to make working with S-log a little easier?
  19. I talked to a camera tech some years back who had built a motor for an NPR camera using a modern motor and electronics that was small enough to actually fit into the motor aperture on the camera. It made the NPR into a very ergonomic shape and reduced the weight considerably. Unfortunately there wont be a market for this anymore.
  20. I was talking to Les Bosher ages ago and he told me that when Red were designing their Red 1 they ordered an Eclair Acl mount from him to asses the design for potential use on the Red. Interesting at least.
  21. Camera in Uk, comes with various lens mounts can be viewed on http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/151986672851?ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1555.l2649
  22. Of course the reason that the ACL has a changeable lens mount is because it has a pendulum mirror. The pendulum mirror design is so compact it acts the same way as an HD camera ( sony F3 for example) and allows for the interchangeability of lens mounts. The normal rotating mirror designs ( arri and aaton for example ) are too bulky to allow lenses close to the film plane. As far as I know there are no other film cameras that can take any lens type. I'm sure Lers Bosher can make any unusual and exotic lens fit an ACL.
  23. My personal Eclair is currently on Ebay ( camera near London)... http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/151986672851?ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1555.l2649
  24. There are good reviews on Nikon lenses here: http://www.kenrockwell.com/nikon/nikkor.htm
