  2. Hi...old thread...did you ever find the date of your lens...my number is very close to yours, which made me interested.
  3. I have the grey...superb lens. Make sure it's collimated properly.

    aaton switch

The on off switch on my ltr 45 ( wooden Handle) has broke and I need to replace it. The same type is easy to get from electrical specialists...but does anyone know what the diodes , soldered to the rear 6 connectors are for ie what function? And, if I wanted to replace it with a simpler on off switch ( 2 pole) would the diodes be necessary and if so how would I wire the diodes . thanks.
  7. Just to give you a guide we shot on S16 500T in a shopping street in the UK, the whole scene was lit by the shop windows and street lights only...so no extra lights and no reflectors. We followed the actors very carefully to stay in focus , as we shot wide open at T1.3. The results were superb.
  8. An Arri BL4 with mags sold for £1,400 last week!
  9. Great point about the toghness of 35mm gear...I sincerely wonder how Coppola would have shot Apocalypse Now with all electronic equipment...

  15. Hi Stephen on an aesthetic point , won't you run into trouble shooting wide in a trench situation ala David Lean...most of his films were huge vistas ?
  16. An interesting article here ( if a little old) on the subject of S16... http://www.thecinematographer.info/articles/122-the-great-debate-16mm-film.html
  17. Well at least there will be an improvement...I must get hold of an XTR prod for a little test too to see the difference.
  18. Thanks brian...nice to know it's possible.
  19. Thanks, I'm experimenting with my LTR eyepiece to make it more 'accessible' to the eye. I've taken the front of the eyepiece off ie the bit that holds the closable light trap and the view of the ground glass is amazingly better. I can easily see all of it. So I'm going to widen the hole in the eyepiece and adapt the light trap to suit...hopefully this will improve vision. Presumably the XTR has this already built-in...or is it a totally different optic?
  20. Hi does anyone know if the later eyepieces...XTR etc. have zoomable eyepieces for critical focussing? I'm talking about a standard length eyepiece.
  21. Velcro is a perfectly acceptable solution...one half on the battery one half on the side of the magazine...XLR cable to attach to camera.
  22. I went on the Ikonoscop website...and wasn't too impressed with much of the footage as yet...but it depends who's using the camera of course...and there doesn't seem to be much around to see. I would like to try one though.
