  1. Can anyone share any experiences they have had with shooting on Kinor 16mm camera, all models welcome CX 1M, 2M, 3M. What lenses? Overall how was the shoot and how was the quality of images captured?
  2. So if one where to shoot on super 8mm with a crystal sync camera, 24fps would be better than 18fps?
  3. What about camera storage? Lenses? Is there a certain temperature a camera is supposed to be stored at. Summer is coming and I was curious with regards to camera storage.
  4. Its Flushing Queens NYC I am guessing the its those pesky loop informers one of these days I am gonna ship the bad boy to Bernie so I can get it hooked up.
  5. well i dont have a 400ft mag yet but how would I load a 400ft roll onto the magazine if the outer diameter of the film roll is bigger?
  6. sorry to hear you have fallen on hard times man. Hopefully you can charge a pretty penny and just only sell one thing. Good Luck!
  7. My test footage:https://vimeo.com/56299324
  8. I have seen red and green filters for the K3 but can you attach any old filter as long as its the right thread size? by the way what is the thread size if one wanted to buy filters for the K3?
  9. Is there any footage online of anyone using a Kinor 16mm with a S16 gate ?
  10. Can one put a matte box on: a K3, Kinor 16mm and/or Scoopic MS? Do I need to know a particular thread size. Forgive me if this is a dumb question Also can one load short ends that are under 400ft into a 400ft magazine, so say for example a 290ft short end into a 400ft magazine?
  11. who cares if hes using an alias, I dont understand why people on this forum are so bent on people using their real names...
  12. Frankly, the meteor lens that came with the k3 is pretty damn good.
  13. i have a k3 and just have a regular 16 but I have read that if you do upgrade to s16 the focal length on your meteor lens will start from 23mm-69mm, mind you, you have to get the lens remounted and the lens mount altered for super 16mm. For some reason s16mm doesn't cover wider angles. At least that is what i have come to understand about it. Perhaps there are some prime lenses that can do s16mm, but they will be pricey. on a side note: I have found a peleng lens to be a really awesome to use on the k3. If you get the russian m42 or just any m42 teleconverter you can then use it and the lens will turn into a 16mm lens( i used a 2x, but there are 1.5x), i have shot with it but have not yet had the film processed and or telecine'd, its been in the fridge for about 2 months now(i am not sure if the lull will have an effect on the films overall image quality, its just test footage anyway.) when I get it developed and transferred I will post it and share my results with my k3 comrades ;D there is also a zenitar 16mm lens, that comes with 3 rear filters, ( a new peleng 8mm lens might come with 3 rear filters I wouldn't know, I purchased my lens second hand, it came with a 4/2lens adapter, which I never use) I am curious about the following lenses on a k3: the helios ( I think these lenses come in 85mm and 50mm focal lenses, dont quote me, but I like the design of these lenses and am interested to see how sharp they are, I have a feeling they are quite nice and under appreciated) although my next suggestion might not work, probably the rear of the lens collides in a not good way with the shutter of the camera but this is just my pessimism kicking in because how cool would it be if you could mount the MTO 1000mm lens which is m42 mount to the k3 and then you can do astro-cinemotgraphy, LOL. Dont forget there is that tele-conveter so the 1000mm becomes 2000mm lens, but again this is assuming this bad boy can be mounted to a k3 without the rear lens hitting the shutter in a bad way.(If you search for the lens, you will come across someone who did that with a canon digital camera, great video.) I wonder if those bayonet 20mm wide angles are like for people with the bayonet mount k3s There are apparently great 1.4 50mm lenses ( i am not sure what this translates to in 16mm but they say to just double it) that are m42 that are featured on Pentax cameras. So look for 35mm slr pentax cameras that are in primo condition and then you can grab two great tools for the price of one: a dope 35mm still camera and a sharp lens for a k3, again i have just only "heard tell" about these lenses working on a k3, i have yet to try. - rudy
  14. I did enjoy the 34th street location since it was walking distance from PENN but I must say I don't mind going to panavision and walking by people doing camera tests. Its not so bad, I just miss paying in cash, why is everything in credit card? I go there and buy my super8 and 16mm stock, 6 rolls is a lot for me and then some guy will come in from SVA or NYU or NYFA and buy like a crate-load...I wish I had that lol. anyway funny thing last time i went to kodak the lady had a wolf on wall street hoodie which is cool but I was saying to myself wasnt that shot on digital, lol.. I hope some of it was shot on film...
  15. I love the Bolex 5120. Did you ever use the intervalometer on it?
  16. Got it! Thanks Bill! Speaking of that! Since I am always worried my camera is gonna malfunction and die, (my Bolex 5120 just stopped working :( everything seems to be ok but when I hit the trigger the film will not advance. I am taking it to the shop today to see whats what, I really champion the camera, a bit heavy but its a beauty, anyway I digress.) Whats the deal with the belts inside the Nizo, I have read on some forums that these can cause the camera to malfunction and poop out, can they be replaced?
  17. Good Morning, I was wondering if super 8 era condenser microphones can be modified to work with todays products. Most of them have a extinct plug that plugs into their respective super 8 cameras. Perhaps someone out there with the technical wizardry can modify these badboys' to work with say a Zoom H4N or at the very least just plug into the standard microphone jack of today. These microphones looks so cool, its shame I wasn't born during a time when sound film was manufactured. Is there anyone out there who could relate a story about using super 8 condensor mice for a shoot. I am just curious as to how good these mics where, they look nice. I have the ablity to test out one of these mics I just have to find a 1.3v mercury replacement, a visit to b&h is in my future lol.
  18. Thanks for the quick replies! The manual i am looking for is not on that page :( It is not the standard Nizo 6080 manual, which I am still going over. This is like a special effects manual, that works in conjunction with the matte box and the compendium set. When I get a free moment I will scan the manual and upload it to my dropbox. If y'all like I can email youse a link. Excuse my mistake, I assumed it was German, thanks for clearing that up, Jamie. worst comes to worst I will just have google translate it. I got downtime during my train commute I will just copy the Dutch text and see what Google spits back to me, hopefully nothing gets lost in translation, but doesn't something always
  19. Has anyone ever mounted a MTO 1000mm lens to a K3? Its a m42 mount lens so techincally it could be done.
  20. Aloha, I was wondering if there was an English translation to the german manual that comes with the Nizo 6080. This is not the standard operating manual but the manual on camera tracks/effects compendium/matte box effects. Title of the black manual reads as follows in I guess it to be German: De Fijne Kneepjes Van Het Filmen: Indrukwekkende Scene-overgangen en verbluffende filmtrucs met Nizo 6080, 4080, 4056. Help! This manual looks like it is very informative with regards to unlocking the cameras full potential. Here is a link to manual:http://www.apecity.com/manuals/pdf/nizo_filming_transitions_and_effects.pdf Perhaps a kind soul can translate this important manual into english if one is not currently in circulation. Just looking at the photos and I am able to deduct what each effect is based on the photos, but I cant understand the exact step by step directions. Also... Can these heads be converted to 4 pin XLR? http://www.flickr.com/photos/93626579@N07/8756277866/in/photostream
