  1. It looks ok, Horrible sound, and the composition well.... lets live it there, But as an experimentation it's ok as I said.... Thanks for showing it.... Best
  2. Maybe Ken But your response was intelligent, and I congratulate you on that Best
  3. Hahahaha I justr have to laugh... hahahaha You do Care!!!!!!!!!!!! for Christ sake !!!!! He's comment could be shallow, but your is a controversy!!!!! If you didn't truly care , You won't response And let ME tell You something, I think there are tons of teachers and proffesors and proffesional "critics"that mix poop with art all the time.... ok I see it every day, they Honor some old hack or some arrogant kid, because of favoritism!!! there ART is no better than anybody else, but the problem is that they could'nt find anybody else so they put the "leftovers on a pedestal" I think sir you are missing the point!!!! you let comformity consume you. And first of all this is the Cinematographers section.... what the helll is this thread doing here!???? And Sir if you think this comment is bold, You Better believe it!!!
  4. I have to at least attemp here to balance things before they go Co Co You are both right you silly maggots! For John, I understand what you are saying completly, YOU DON'T LIKE DAVID LYNCH!!!! and you know what that's OK.... it takes some guts to say that. So what he doesn't like Lynch's films oooooo Big Fuc@#@ deal!!! the guy is in his right to not like the god damn films of Lynchy..... I personally don't like a lot famous people that society puts in a pedestal, so what people I don't like for example all the work of Picasso, most of it doesn't move me, as much than Modigliani, or Lautrec. So what I'm in fault for not going with the comformity of society. Ken & Peter: You like Lynch's cinema.... you know what?.. THAT'S OK..... You admire a director that had a chance to show his message to the masses, and you like his message.... For that reason it's ok to say: I'm LOve with Lynchy!!! you like the fu**ing guys work...... but it's interesting to point out that alot of people don't tend to disagree the say "Well who doesn't" and they roll their shoulders with a mockery of a smile. I think it really doesn't matter.... I read a guy there cry about Dune not having the proper realese..... Really who Cares!!!!! Lynch is not stupid, if that's the deal he got.... well good for him, How many great filmmakers.... better example... Imagine is 1965 and you see Jimi Hendrix in the street playing his guitar and asking for coins.... will you stop and look at him as he is the greatest guitar player or as just one more guy playing 6 strings rumblings Is the same with Directors or FilmmaKERS in general there are great people out there with films that they will destroy your mind, but we see them come and go, because they didn't get a proper deal.... well I prefer to feel for that guy That for Lynch, Because Mr Lynchy ( how I like to call him) he had and has he's chance to explore with his films..... so if John DOESN'T LIKE Lynch... it's ok, because he might like something else, Maybe something stupid or maybe not, My point is the just dropped and if a guy doesn't like your artist of prefrence, just go with it, this is not the world cup and you are not rootying for your team, this is just Film, with it's formats and visionares... if they take you there be happy that they took you, don't look around and point fingers to those that didn't get on the "Boat" of the Visoner Anyway I'm going to work to be one of those that can make the right deal Have a nice Day everyone
  5. Man People loves this camera, (I do to!) But I believe at the same time that we don't know where Rebecca is on the process of learning. My Best advice is to ask her, Honey, do you feel confident to go out there and do your stuff? if she says yes.... welll I have no argument here! But if the answer is a little dubious... well I will consider getting something much cheaper like a K-3 or a 35mm still photo camera anyway I think I spend it to much time following this Bye....Byeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!
  6. To be in this forum you need to use your Real Name ! And for 400 feet you get around 11 minutes of footage Best
  7. Rebecca Hi How are you? I guess this rude filmmakers forget about beign polite about some others people's money I will suggest you the following Consider 2 things 1) is it worth it to risk to buy a great but cheap 16mm camera? remember that today the most welcoming ratio is 16:9, and a camera like this you can't do true super 16 ( tim Carroll did crop 16 to 16:9 and it looked pretty cool) And maybe you could save for a different cam ( I am using the word Different people ok, not better) Like the Eclairs or the Aaton or a Kinor.... let's put it this way there are alot of good cameras out there that you can grow with and have for years. 2) Buy the BL and make a great proyect on the 16mm format like Pi, Clerks, The followings etc..... Good luck
  8. I think for a first movie.... this had a lot of energy, keep it going
  9. this was great combo of fomrat and the buildup is great congrats!!!!
  10. I liked the entrances to the reel, but the rest was a bit to boring, but if you tight end up it would be cool Best
  11. I think you need to retouch this project, big time. you need more contrast, right know the picture looks pretty cheap, I don't mean to be rude or disrespectfull, but with all the stuff that you had to do your shoot, you need to do more justice to your project before showing it Good Luck
  12. Not a good Idea!!!! why you want a cheap super 16 camera, when ,1, you already can buy cheap Super16 cams, and 2, you can always rent really expensive cams for your project Good lUck
  13. I have friends that work with him before and they say the follow: " Rodriguez has the talent, but he a bit of a thief.... for most of his tones the ideas and the music itself was written by someone else, and then he gets the music, does some stupid rearrangment and makes it his own" Know on my opinion he is a good technical person and has a great energy on the medium.... but honestly I didn't see anythig of him that I go ooooooooo whoaaa, never, never, the only thing close was sincity... the rest I wasn't that impress most of his film after the mariachi they have no substantial story or they do and then he ruins them like from dusk till dawn, great promise until the vampire fiasco. I undersand the filmmakers that embrances sillyness, me I don't respect that, actually I hated.
  14. Hey I think Babel is a great film, full of perspectives that they are not seen in Hollywierd Everybody is rooting for Marty ( even me ) but I think that is more for pity than for anything else, even do I loved the Departed, I believe Marty is much better than that.... for Jesus sake he invented the style, but I believe that he can do better Letters is a great and bold move from one of the best directors of cinema history.... and to me this could be the one....( I don't it would win but man this film was bold to make ...I think they should let everybody know about it ) The queen I didn't saw, I'm not really exited to honor a woman like the Queen.... so I really don't give a fcuk And the Last one ... United 93 is an ok movie , I like it but with the heated times that we ive in today, I think the people of that flight and the other flights and the dead people of the warr ( from boths sides ) deserved much better. For me I would love that Gustavo Santaolalla from Argentina will win his 2 Oscar, his a great musician, and I hope having him in one of my films in the future
  15. HEY TIM If you want you can pm me.... I have great contacts that can boost your film, the idea of going into shooting without a solid camera crew is alittle bit of a technical suicide, let me know, I'm might be able to get you some deals or pull some favors for you Best Regards
  16. Hey Man .... if you want to shoot in regular 16 and then cropped, that's ok..... really the most important thing is your story..... for example Pi was shot on regular 16 and that was great....... you tell me
  17. Thank you guys for the advice .... I actually asume that it was a shity , coming from the country of the most famous scamers you develop a sixt sense hehehehe, but I trust my Cinematography, com brothers to seek for great advice. Thanks Again
  18. I'm going crazy I want to buy an Aaton LTR Super 16 and this action looks great.... but maybe to great guys take a look http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...em=110078518697 best
  19. Kodak is a great company, that brought us great products and still do, but this is just a COMPANY, and I bet that in the future film digital or both there where always be a great company that will suplied our needs, hopefully will be Kodak, but if not well I think we always remember kodak....( but in my personal opinion I don't think they are going anywhere with out a fight) Best
  20. Great advice !!!!!! I always tell my students that, and only the ones that truly want to learn they follow that advice, the other ones they start playing with video cams.
  21. Andromeda is really beautifull, the idea that you can use a camera like the dvx and push it to that level is actually a relief, Go DVX!!!!!
  22. I think my friend if you get any 3ccd cam with a good mic entrance , well he will do much better like that, but if not well try an external recorder and then sync it.
  23. The DVX is a great camera but is old and it will be getting older, get the HVX that can do the same as the DVX and much more BEST
