  1. If you're legit low budget then it's gotta be the BMPCC
  2. May 2017 will be a month not a year. ..Wait. Yes frequent employment for all.
  3. Similar to the Mic Locker thread I started a few months back, this is probably more relevant to the site title. If you worked in the industry for 10, 20, 30 years there's a good chance you've gotten your hands on many cameras for a given job, but what video/cinema cameras do you own personally for your own work/collection? Thanks.
  4. See they list El Mariachi on IMDB as a budget of only $7000, back when film was the only good looking option for a narrative. Do you feel that number is falsified in some way for bragging rights? If not, that has to be the greatest dollar for dollar film ever made.
  5. David keeping the American dream alive. I think you sent me one for --I DIDNT SIGN AN NDA-- but I can't seem to locate it now. If you could send on Skype or something that'd be great. It is 2017 and I haven't left my computer chair.
  6. Let's say you work with not the best trained actors, which leads to loads of takes, and working on a low 5 digit budget, below average actors may be the only option. How many days of shooting can blunders like that tack on?
  7. You may run into some issues here and there. Like your lightweight tripod not staying in your assigned position. I used a Sony F3 on a DSLR shoulder rig and DSLR weighted tripod and it didn't feel the safest but I was still able to work with it. If the camera is only like 8 pounds it shouldn't be too difficult to find stuff on the cheaper end for it. A chunk of the reason you buy support in the proper weight class is for safety though. Slap a 25 pounder on a 10 pound limit tripod and either the tripod will tip over and break the camera, or the tripod will break and then break the camera. May not happen instantly, but over the course of a 10 hour shoot, things have a good chance of going wrong.
  8. Does the Go Pro have better output possibilities now? From the one I used which was either a 3 or a 4, they are interesting cameras to play around with, but do not look naturally nice themselves. If your A and B cams are DSLRs I guess it wouldn't stick out too bad. That's just me. Going slightly up the price ladder for a BMPCC seems like a better option. Also lets you use a wide variety of lenses (or just lenses period).
  9. Is $50 a day low for low budget? Can you really find people who will do a 25 day shoot for free? Guess it depends on the market you're looking at.
  10. I talk with friends and we always throw out different figures. May as well discuss with professionals from all walks of life. Let's say the producer/director/writer knows how to do every part of the process themselves, but they need locations, a couple people behind the camera, and a few actors in front of it. A few indoor/outdoor locations not in LA/NY to shoot in, and they shoot digitally and already have a computer to finish an 80 minute digital product. About 25 days of shoot time is needed. The figure I threw out was $30,000. What say you?
  11. Luck on meeting the right person could pretty much be applied as a 100% easy avenue in all professions. Connections outweigh talent when it comes to climbing the ladder.
  12. How do we know he hasn't been doing that for the last 10 years though?
  13. To be honest I wait to pop as well but only when it's REALLY necessary for laying something down in the long term. Getting mad at PAs or waiters is like your mind's gone off to the hyper white entitlement zone.
  14. He said he had been making multiple short films, which held no marketability so unreleased. I wonder if they'll get a Blu-Ray release after his eventual death.
  15. Ever witness a premeditated outburst? Almost sociopathic in a way. but a director fronting an emotion to get the cast performing a certain way?
  16. Lucas needs to make one last feature post Star Wars.
  17. I took you for an avid video game player, was I wrong?
  18. Come over to my house and I'll give ya one for free
  19. WHATHWHAHTHWTHWHTWHTAHAWT???? That is insane, copping now.
  20. I would assume it's pretty self-explanatory? Less budget means shorter access, or no access, to certain gear rentals. Or less time to shoot so more rushed overall. Also less hired hands on the camera period. Wanted it on a jib? Out of the budget. Wanted to experiment with reverse perspective lenses? Out of the budget. Wanted to smooth it with a nice steadicam? Out of the budget. Of course the examples I'm using more so affect indie productions rather than shoots working with $10mil plus. I'm sure someone else here could tell you the budgeting shortcomings of bigger productions.
  21. Dude 2016 was awesome, the funniest president in American history's been elected!
  22. Decorate your rig with Black Santa stickers
  23. Honestly in retrospect, Scrooge wasn't all the bad on his morals. Especially when you wake up on the 25th and realize Popeyes is closed. Money > Friends > Family > Enemies
  24. I like pictures that don't use a lot of score, lets the audience decide the mood for themselves. Was their a really nice and gory JFK bullet time scene?
