  1. As I look at this on my tablet it has slightly more contrast than the monitor I used at the time. That is the problem with all these digital viewing devices. Laptops especially are prone to off color post work.
  2. Here is the deal. If you are not working for a paying client...you only have to please yourself with your work. Sometimes we don't know we have gone too far, until we do. I used to do a lot of hyper-real HDR about 10 years ago. I learned it from Les Krims. But eventually grew out of it and now use invisible HDR if I want it. But maybe a film in hyper-real HDR would look interesting. Faces of Gentrification Photos: D.D.Teoli Jr.
  3. Got timed out, but here is my choice for post. I've done lots of freaky post work in the past. But the subject matter must be of that nature. If you want her over saturated and that is how the film is, then go for it.
  4. I think I'd like something in between the 2 choices. Here is the deal. Everyplace you view the film needs its own grade. TV looks different than YouTube and YouTube looks different than Vimeo and projection looks different than the computer screen
  5. I've been finishing up a project archiving 299 artist's books for sale. I came across one today in the collection called Morgue. It was more of a 5-print portfolio than a book and sold for $3.7K. I looked into it via Google and found a review here: with reference to death – the only way out is in (philippocock.net) Apparently, the reviewer didn't like the Morgue project very much. Anyway, that website has a bunch of interesting posts of death as art. But the rest looks like it is art and not actual death as art. http://interspire.e-flux.com/admin/temp/newsletters/5908/june22_zuecca_img2.jpg http://images.artnet.com/images_US/magazine/news/nathan/art-42-basel-6-14-11-1.jpg Selection from Weekly World News Newsprint Archive DDTJRAC
  6. When shipping special film, you can go Registered USPS mail. I've had lots of problems with Priority Mail. The post office is hiring lots of part time people so they don't have to pay benefits and they are delivering my mail to other people. Has happened a few times now this year. Maybe Registered mail has gone to hell too, but it used to be the most secure way to ship. Everyone that receives it along the way has to sign for it.

  8. Hello Rick, Can't help with contacts. But for moving, try City-Data Forum. It is a good forum to ask questions about cities. Vancouver Forum - Relocation, Moving, General and Local City Discussions - City-Data Forum I'd caution you about being careful discussing political topics there. They banned me. In the past I found that forum very useful for working in NJ & NYC. And it is not that they don't like politics, but the politics must mesh with their worldview. Good luck with your move! 9. He said shipping in the title. Storage should be in vented cans if acetate and cool temp if possible. Vented plastic cans are not the best to ship in, they can crack, but they can still be used. So, it has to be clarified does he want to ship or long-term store?

  11. I thought they got rid of that all. Isn't that something. If so, definitely store cool and in vented cans for long term storage. 35mm vented archival film can - Google Search OP... Running a film archive, I'm somewhat of a specialist of sorts in shipping films and seeing how films survive from shipping. For shipping you could use any container. Metal film cans offer good protection, but if they get dinged bad, they can be hard to open. These plastic cases were popular before things went digital. I can't believe you would use pizza boxes. You put all that work in film...protect your film! Some of the film shippers were like a steel vault. You could kill someone with it. 14. Ebay Photos: Fair Use I had one for music. They were pretty small. Google: The title, MiniDisc (MD), comes from its size. Sony developed the MiniDisc in 1986 as an audio media that combines the merits of both CD (supreme quality) and Tape (recordable). The disc is placed inside a cartridge of 72 X 68 X 5 mm.

  16. You know, artists need room to work, they have to explore things and artists don't like to follow confining rules. The gal working as armorer looked like an artist to me. Certain jobs I don't want artists to do. For instance...I don't want a bohemian managing my money or running the country. But they are very entertaining to watch when doing things that won't lead to widespread disaster. With guns, you can't F around. Been around guns for 58 years. When we dry fire practice there is no live ammo allowed in the room. For me, my dry fire guns are marked and never used with live ammo. Even so, EVERY time I pick it up I check it. 17. OP...dunno. But it is admirable you are looking to make things right. In 2021 people can't even be bothered to answer emails, let alone the work you need to do. Good luck with your project!

  19. Here is some news on the Baldwin case about a recent lawsuit. Alec Baldwin ‘intentionally’ fired deadly shot on ‘Rust’ film set, script supervisor claims in suit Alec Baldwin “intentionally” fired a gun toward cinematographer Halyna Hutchins on the “Rust” movie set, disregarding set protocol in the deadly shooting, according to a new lawsuit filed Wednesday. “I saw Alec going through his movement with the gun for the camera,” said Mamie Mitchell, the script supervisor on set who called 911 when Baldwin shot and killed Hutchins and injured director Joel Souza on Oct. 21. “I was holding my script in my left hand and had taken out my iPhone and opened up my photos to check the continuity on his shirt and vest.,” she said. “Then an explosion. Deafening loud gunshot.” “I was stunned. I heard someone moaning and I turned around and my director was falling backwards and holding his upper body and I turned around toward Alec and saw Halyna going down to the left of me.” In the suit, Mitchell claimed, “Alec Baldwin intentionally, without just cause or excuse, cocked and fired and loaded gun even though the upcoming scene to be filmed did not call for the cocking and firing of a firearm.” She also said every safety protocol designed to ensure safety with a firearm on set was ignored, such as the presence of live ammunition on set, and that “actions that were taken” that day “were against all industry norms.” Cinematographer Halyna Hutchins was killed when a live round was accidentally fired by Alec Baldwin on the set of the film “Rust.” VIA REUTERS ...lots more at the link Alec Baldwin 'intentionally' fired deadly shot on 'Rust' film set: suit (nypost.com)

  21. Cloggers Blue Ridge Mountain Dancers Newport Folk Festival Clip 1960s : D.D.Teoli Jr. A.C. : Free Download, Borrow, and Streaming : Internet Archive Sometimes you see them at county fairs. Otherwise kinda underground in 2021. Even if you see em at the fair, they are not like the old time cloggers. I got another clip to find of some cloggers, the real old school ones. But have to find it. Here is how the old timers dressed...but they are not the real old timers. It all seems to get watered down as time goes on. The cloggers I saw about 6 years ago at a fair were dressed like they were going to a 1990's aerobic class....neon clothing and leg warmers and all. Texas History - Internet Photo : Fair Use I've got a large collection of square dance music with call sheets. It is a caller's travel box and kinda rare. The square dance caller would rent themselves out like DJ's for a square dance and bring their 45rpms and the call sheets. Clogging is not really square dance, but I think it is in the family so to speak.

  23. Well, makes some sense, if you got that luxury of time. Much of what I shot was blind, either in the dark or from the hip unframed. But it is nice to have it all consistent as you say. Infrared flash (Candid) With infrared flash, in the dark you can't see anything on the screen. You work blind unless you are lucky enough to have tons of light. Almost everything I shoot is cropped to my liking. And even if I try to play studio photog, I still crop some. I'm not that anal for studio work. For street work, if you come back with 70% of what you were after you can still be a success. Another thing you can do is carry a little viewfinder with you and look at things with your viewfinder in the aspect you prefer.
  24. Sometimes buyers worry that eBay jacks up the price and overcharges them to meet their high bid. Same worries when you use sniper services. Many times I've bid much higher than the price I got the item at. Today I bid on a film for $177. I got it for $24.49 through a sniper. And even with no sniper, similar buys were made that closed at a small fraction of my max bid. eBay and the bid snipers are honest as far as I can tell. Yosemite with stereo camera M. M.
