  1. Not based on my ethics, the law of your country. Religious beliefs shouldn't interfere with the law. Some religious beliefs justify the hacking off of hands. According to you, that should be respected? Ey? Look, there's a squirrel.
  2. You are digressing. Nobody has forced anyone to take pornographic pictures. But that is exactly what is happening here. Not sure what your argument is.
  3. The photographer doesn't offer gay weddings. He is offering to take photographs.
  4. Matthew, taking photographs is not a forbidden action in anyone's religion.
  5. Sorry Matthew, but that argument doesn't work. A Jewish catering business won't offer shellfish.
  6. I very much doubt that the photographer who lost the case was forced to do any work. This is about discrimination not about forcing anyone to work against their will.
  7. Hi Doug, thank you for the link! I've enjoyed reading some of your posts and it would be great to see some of the footage you shot. Same for the Ultra 16 conversion. Is that online somewhere?
  8. I must admit I don't really have a process and just go by what looks good to my eye. In DaVinci Resolve I use the 'grab frame' and 'apply grade from that frame' function quite a bit. Other than that I play with contrast, lift, gain and gamma. And Hue vs Sat. I should probably learn how to use nodes to split things into layers but haven't felt the need to do that.
  9. When I was younger I used to do a bit of paragliding and so whenever I see random drone shot, it often makes me think it is a point of view from a character in the story, even if there isn't one ?
  10. Look at how those pillars in the last frame are straining under the weight, haha. I wonder if in those days there was time to shoot exposure tests. Or was it all experience and metering?
  11. As promised, here's the first bit of footage, shot on a walk through London and quick visit to the zoo, on a dark and grey day. Kodak Vision 3, 500T, Zeiss Distagon 12mm 1:1.2 lens. Prior to this the camera hadn't been used in 12 years, according to the seller. I tried to find out a bit more about the history. According to someone who worked at Arri at the time, the Super 16 cameras were made for a client in Switzerland and a few rental houses in Germany. They weren't popular and so they stopped making them. It took another 25 years for Super 16 to take off in earnest.
  12. Very Excited to share screengrabs of the first footage shot with the Arriflerx S/B Super 16. Lens was a Zeiss Distagon 12mm 1:1.2 on Kodak Vision 3 500T. A grey, dark day, exteriors were at 5.6 - 8. Wide open the image goes soft, as you can see by the second image, but from F2 onwards it is looking great. This is a quick basic grade on Resolve, tweaked brightness contrast and a bit of temperature from a log scan. Once I have edited the footage, I will share a clip. So far I am really pleased with how things have turned out. Really worth the wait ?
  13. The viewfinder does have a wider aspect ratio compared to the standard one. I will do a test by marking the corners on a wall to see how well it covers the image. Were the gate rails of the later SR cameras different? I’ve seen converted SR gates that look similar. Thanks Dom, I was hoping you would chime in. I’ll find out next week if there is any scratching.
  14. Would love to see the photos once you’re done dissecting. I took the camera on a walk around London today and will post the results next week once back from the lab.
  15. I couldn't wait until the weekend, hah! A quick comparison of the Super 16 gate and the Standard model. It looks like there is a longer mirror and the inside of the turret is different. From the outside she looks like any other Arriflex 16 S/B.
  16. It took nearly one month but finally the Arri ST Super 16 has landed! I'll take some comparison photos with my standard Arri ST and post them at the weekend.
  17. Hi David, That sounds great, I'll send you a PM.
  18. In anticipation of the Super 16 ST arriving, I bought Zeiss Distagon 12mm bayonet mount. The lens has a 72mm front and I can't find any clamp-on LMB to fit it. Any ideas?
  19. I haven't received it yet! The cameras is still sitting in UK customs. I received a four page customs form to fill out to explain what it is. Since it is a vintage item, they don't know what fees to charge. I told them that I'm happy to pay full customs fees and VAT but please deliver the camera, but no, it is still sitting on a shelf somewhere. So much for less red tape after exiting the EU, hahaha. I am hoping that the camera will get to me this week. I have no plans of selling it on, btw.
  20. If your plan is to help further the cinema in the Philippines and the prospects are dire, you may want to consider going anywhere that offers you to learn as much about the subject film as possible. The world is your oyster, especially if you have family that supports you in your plans. Once you are equipped with the knowledge you seek and have gained experience and connections, you can always go back home and see what you can do. Broadening your horizon beyond your country's borders can only be beneficial.
  21. It is now eight days later and the camera has finally made it to the UK. It is has been sitting in customs for the past two days and according to the tracking info is awaiting further information from the recipient (me). Problem is, nobody has yet contacted me. I went to the distribution center and they couldn't help me but offered to send an email to wherever the camera is right now. I am hopeful that I can get it by the end of the week. Brexit, the gift that keeps on giving.
  22. Update: The camera still hasn't arrived, it is stuck in Germany. Since the UK left the EU, sending goods can become problematic in certain cases. As agreed with the seller, I organized the pick up via a UK courier provider from a EU country to be sent to the UK. The paperwork the courier company supplied from the UK does not suffice since customs rules changed. Certain new mandatory papers are missing but nobody can tell me who is supposed to supply them, only that I can't. I'm curious to see how much worse the red tape will get once the new customs rules come into full force come January 2022. Only a year ago the camera would have been here the next day. I am hopeful that this can be resolved soon and when the "alte Mühle" (old mill) finally arrives, I will post more photos and info.
  23. Have you uploaded the scan file of your film as you've received it from the lab? It looks like you filmed it off a monitor or projected onto a wall. Very odd.
  24. Hi Ezra, this is an ARRI made Super 16 ST. I'm not sure to what length they went to achieve this but I presume it must have been more than a conversion since they have their own serial numbers.
  25. According to IMDb you are right. Shot on Agfa.
