  1. Hi Raymond, I get everything scanned through Kodak and don't know if there is a difference in scanners used. I don't think so. There are a couple that were scanned at 2k rather than 4k which makes quite a difference. Yep, time flies. Hopefully on celluloid, if still available.
  2. Thank you Satsuki! My wife is terrific. She is so patient and supportive. I’m very lucky.
  3. Thanks Heikki! Yes, the follow focus is a tricky challenge. Almost impossible on your own as you can see in some of the softer shots. The metering I find less of a problem, it's often quite easy to guess. Getting my son to not turn his back and run off as soon as you roll camera is the trickiest part ?
  4. Here's the 4th installment, should you be interested. A little long at 4 1/2 minutes. This is primarily for my family to enjoy hence the slower pacing. The first few shots are 200T and the rest shot on 50D and 250D. My boy is growing fast and it is getting difficult to catch him in front of the lens. Looking forward to more filming in the summer with hopefully less Covid restrictions.
  5. Yeah, they try and get you to sign up to LinkedIn Pro which is annoying but they run a business, there is no such thing as a free lunch. I quit Facebook a few years ago and feel better for it. I don't go on LinkedIn much but not for privacy concerns. You are publishing a profile with your work details for everyone to see. It's your choice. If you are concerned about privacy, I'm afraid we're all vulnerable as soon as we switch on our phones.
  6. Cautious about what? Honestly interested to know what you mean.LinkedIn is for people to connect on a business level and when you sign up, you know that this is what it is for. I'm no particular fan since I get a lot of people offering their services but I don't know what else you expect it should be. If you are not interested, don't sign up.
  7. Their website says that they took over the service from Ritter Media and they repair what looks like mostly Super 8 mm cameras and projectors.
  8. There's a cheaper and not so "Heavy Duty" version here:
  9. Shot on 200T, no filter: If you are scanning the negative and grade digitally, no need to use 85B filters.
  10. Beautiful to look at! Well done and thank you for sharing.
  11. I stand corrected. Honestly, this is news to me. If you read on though, I would still advise you to contact the Borough and let them know what exactly you’re planning to do. Walking a Steadycam with focus puller, sound recordist and lights through several streets at night, following one actor (that’s your crew of five) is not that simple an affair.
  12. Most short films are non-commercial projects but you still need a permit. Contact the council’s film unit or check their website for more info. The only way you can shoot without a permit is on private land but then you have to get permission by the owner.
  13. In regards to filming on London streets you have to get permission from the respective London borough film unit. This goes for all public places where it is illegal to film without a permit and insurance. As soon as more than a hand-held camera and one operator is involved, a permit is required. I'm sure plenty of young film makers ignore this but if something does happen, you can get into a heap of trouble.
  14. Sending equipment from the EU to the US used to be the same from the UK but is different now since the UK is no longer part of the EU. There is no trade agreement with the US. Sending goods between UK and EU has been made very difficult, even if you are not selling those goods. For example, you now have to have an ATA Carnet if you want to take camera gear to the EU for filming. There are costs involved and the Carnet has to be renewed every year.
  15. You can remove the IVS which is fairly simple to do but you need to cover it up. You can use a 100% video top. Arri in Munich still has some original accessories in stock, you might get lucky. There are HD IVS systems available. Cameramarket sells this one: https://cameramarket.eu/equipment_detail.php?type=support&no=12.
  16. Because of Brexit it is no longer possible to ship equipment to the EU from the UK without incurring hefty charges and a mountain of paper work. Even if it is for repairs only. Really sucks big time.
  17. I own a 435 3perf, they were made both as 3 and 4perf by Arri.
  18. As far as I know the 435 can't easily be converted, if not at all. @Dom Jaeger might be able to confirm this.
  19. http://www.ronfordbaker.co.uk/products/sliders/motorised-slider/ Not motion control though.
  20. Kodak Lab London was shut during the first lockdown. They are running this time but with reduced capacity, as far as I know. There was a leaked phone recording from the Mission Impossible set where Tom Cruise is yelling at crew for breaking Covid rules. He talks about being on the phone to insurers every night to prevent a shut down. Stressful times.
