Hi there, I finally have gotten my Eclair ACL kit to work, and it has been out on a handful of jobs. I love it. Thing is, I am now making a video tap for it, to try to modernize and make it an alternative to the alluring SR's, and 416's of the world. One issue though is that the repairman that made my conversion, Bernie at Super 16 Inc, made the frame lines by hand. And that's all good for myself using it privately, but it does come across as a bit unprofessional in the working world. My question is, is there anyone in the Los Angeles area that potentially could make me a custom ground glass to replace what I already have in the camera? Preferably someone that knows Aatons internals (since they are basically an Eclair). //C

Recently got an Aaton LTR 7 in great shape, came with Nikon F and PL mounts, both of which work great with their respective lenses. I have a bunch of old M42 lenses that I used with my K3 and I want to try them with my Aaton. I bought an M42 -> PL adapter but the only lens I can get to fit in the grooves of the adaptor is the Meteor 17-69mm; the other lenses are too wide at the base to fit. I've tried a couple different M42 -> Nikon F adapters but the flanges are off because I can't focus on any of the M42 lenses. No idea if there are M42 mounts for Aaton cameras out there but if anyone has any tips for me, much would be appreciated!

Hi all, wondering if anyone has any insights on this problem I'm having. I got my hands on an Xtera that's been in storage for 5+ years, and while its in darn good condition its got one weird problem - attaching the battery results in the camera instantly running. The test/run wheel's position seems irrelevant to this behavior. I've swapped the body fuses, but theres no change in this behavior. Im using the only battery that will actually charge, attached the VHR shows the battery at 13.7v Anyone ever experienced this or something similar and have any insights? Any chance Im doing something dumb and not realizing it?

Hello, This is my first post so apologies if I don't quite know how to use this yet! I bought an Aaton XTR Prod earlier in the year and have now shot a few projects on it and have been loving it. However, the last project I shot has come out with noticeable jitter, as though the film is still moving down as the frame is being exposed, this creates a slightly soft image with an ugly shake. Luckily the film is a handheld rough and ready approach so it blends in OK and was usable. But I don't want to see this in future. I would like to find out how I can get rid of this. Could this be the camera, the magazines the way it was loaded, or the connection of the mag to the camera? The amount of jitter seemed to vary between mags. I had 4 mags. Any help would be appreciated in being able to fix this problem. Thanks! Joe

I picked up some incidental items in a major Hollywood camera house auction and don't need all that was included so I'm selling some of it. These are a great find and hard to come by. Niner lights are the standard in high-end camera lens lights. Built in the USA (In CA.). $100 I also have several of the Cinematography Electronics lights which are similar but have a mount made for their own accessory panels found on some Arri cams (35-3). I will sell these for $30 each. All lights are about 18" overall. There are a few different types with different mounts. but most use the common 3-pin Fischer connector. They use small 12v or 24v 5-watt bulbs and many have a dimmer knob. I'm pretty sure you could switch the bulb to an LED. I will look into this more. Most of them use the common 3-pin Fischer connector, a few have more pins. Mounts vary. I have a few that use 3/8 threads, and a few that have hot-shoe mounts. Most seem to have Arri rosette mounts. PM me what you need and I will see if I have one left. I will personally test each light before you buy it so it's guaranteed to work! Will ship for $15. Hey all! Shooting a small music video on S16 soon, and wondering what everyone's thoughts are on the Aaton XTR vs. SR3 vs. 416. What are the advantages and disadvantages of each when compared against eachother? I'm seeing XTR packages are almost half the price of the SR3, and our budget is tiny so I'm trying to see what I'm giving up for the cheaper price.

Is Telecine of 16mm film at HD used for final edit?

....my first EVER footage shot on 16mm is coming back me via certified post tomorrow or the day after.... ...the footage has been Telecine'd to HD size and exported as ProRes 422 on a pen drive.....its coming to me clean of timecode marks etc so I can use in the final edit...... My question is......does anyone use Telecine for final piece edit? Obv its to save money on 2k/4k scans that I ask.... .......the final piece will be on social media and at its largest viewed size on a 43" TV at the factory for tourists to watch when the master blowers are not there making glass at the time OBVIOUSLY all I have to do is watch the footage on the mentioned TV and make a decision but I wanted to know if people in my budget situation use Telecine in final edits Tech details Film: Kodak Vision3 500T Camera: Aaton XTR XC Lens: Cooke Varokinetal 9-50mm Format: Standard 16mm Client: Gibraltar Crystal Footage: master glass blowers making pieces at the glassblowing factory to edit into a piece for marketing purposes and for walk-in visitors to watch -

Dear Cinematographers, Was intending to shoot film and lens tests with a super 16 Krasnogorsk-3, in preparation for a project done on an Aaton XTR PROD. Now is there any way that I might use the M42 mount lenses for the Krasnogorsk (namely, Zenitar 16/2.8; Pentax Super-Takumar 50/1.4; &c.), later on for the Aaton? Do they have M42 to Aaton adapters? Hello all! I'm new to this website and am excited to make my first post! I am going to be working on a project soon and want to shoot super 16mm. I have been looking at cameras online to buy and have come across some decently priced Aaton XTRs from various countries outside the U.S. My concern is that some sellers have mentioned that they are PAL cameras. Can anyone tell me if this will matter when shooting the film? I have heard mixed opinions about it just referring to frame, rate in which case I can adjust the camera's frame rate. Others have told me that I will constantly have flicker due to electricity in the US. Will I be able to use the camera or should I look for something else?

Hi there, Everyone in this group was probably very sad when Aaton stopped making cameras. And I for one really wished they would have stayed on, now I was never able to work when they were active (because I was too young), but learning about all their cameras now brings some tears to my eyes not knowing they exist. However I am a bit curious. I know that there were made 6 (I have read 8 even) final versions of the Penelope Delta, that was sold to rental houses in the world. I have been looking everywhere if it would be possible to rent any one them, but I can't seem to find anything. The dream would be to get my hands on one to buy (even though the prices has skyrocketed since it is a collectors thing now), but I could settle for just being able to work with it once. Anyone that has any leads on where to get my hands on one? And possibly even in the West Coast of the US? C
