Selling my Zeiss CP.2 50mm T/2.1 Nikon F Mount lens. It's in excellent, like new condition. It's a great lens, but I don't use it much anymore because I no longer do freelance work. Looking for $3300 for it (negotiable). And don't get discouraged if you're looking for an EF or PL mount - the beauty with these lenses is that you can change mounts very easily. I can email photos.

Hi everyone, I was hoping to see if anyone knew how to achieve these distorting effects found in these music videos. The first is in the music video for Lana Del Rey's Blue Jeans track. It's used on and off notably at the 1:30 mark. The 2nd is this music video for Feist's Anti - Pioneer. It's more like a ghosting/doubling effect seen at the 40 second mark. These effects must be through some kind of filtration, in the case with the Feist video, allowing light to leak behind the diffusion filter to get reflections? With the Lana Del Rey video I'm not so sure. Physically holding warped glass in front of the lens? If anyone has attempted this before I'd love to get some pointers. Thanks! Chris

I am executing a 3-minute unbroken tracking shot for a music video using a Canon 5D Mark III and a MoVI M5 house with a ring handle. The music video takes place at a house party moving from interior to exterior. Plenty of choreography in each frame and following two main characters. I want depth of field but with soft focus so as to limit the use of pull-focus. Does anybody have an specific suggestions as to what lens would be best for this criteria? I'm thinking a fixed lens like a 35mm f/1.4 Zeiss or a Sigma 30mm f/1.4 but those are my only leads. NEED HELP. Thanks.

Hi Cinematography.com, I'm a second year film student and an aspiring cameraman/D.O.P. I am currently working as a junior editor at a production house for the summer, and am wondering what I should invest my money on once I've compiled enough when school starts! At the moment, I am wondering if I should invest in two decent lenses, lights, filters, and grip stands instead of a camera body such as GH4 + lens. The reason is because I will have another year of school, which means access to cameras such as F3 (Hell even Bolex h16) till April 2015 + 6 months graduation equipment rental blessing from my college, and by then I'm kind of worried that the next best deal will be released. Also I am not too crazy about 4K resolution or slow-mo... I'd much rather prefer that Wes Anderson X Robert Yeoman look or films by Hirokazu Koreeda. (I am a wide-lens fanatic) So my question is, would it be a wise choice to invest in equipments other than a camera body? Or should I be focusing my attention on something else? I'm hoping whatever I will squeeze out of my 5 grand will help me on the long run rather... If you can help me with my inexperienced and confused self, then it is very much appreciated. THANK YOU.

Weāre currently building and kitting out a studio, largely to be used for shooting products. Weāre getting an Alexa, but are stumbling on our lens choice, mostly because the budget is not infinite. Our MUST HAVE primes are 35mm, and 50mm. We are looking at CP.2 super speeds ā the cost is attractive, but more than that the speed is important ā we often open up to f1.4 to knock the set background out of focus (rather than for exposure). Iām concerned about the performance of these lenses - Iāve not used them much - what are they like wideāopen (T1.5)? Weāre not looking at cinema projection here, TV or digital is where our shots will be seen, so Iām trying to be pragmatic. Am I worrying about nothing? Is there another line (other brands) of fast lenses that sits between Master Primes and CP.2 super speeds that Iām missing?

Hello everyone! I'm aware that there are numerous other topics about s16 zoom lenses. However, I'd like to hear your advice/thoughts on these particular PL-mount lenses (some of them only PL Adapters) mentioned below as I'm planning to buy one of them for my Aaton A-Minima PL. The lens will be used for more personal, S16 film projects (hence these "lower-budget" lenses): - Angenieux 9.5-57 T1.6-2.2 | PL Adapter on Arri Bayo Mount - Angenieux 9.5-95 T2.5 | converted to PL mount - Angenieux 12-240 F3.5 | converted to S16 with PL mount - Cooke 9-50 T2.5 | PL Adapter on Arri Mount - Zeiss Vario Sonnar 12.5-75 T2 | S16?? // PL Adapter - Zeiss Vario Sonnar 10-100 F2.8 | S16?? // PL Adapter on Arri Mount Looking forward on reading/hearing your thoughts about breathing, vignetting, combining it with a Minima etc. Thanks in advance, Alex

Hi, I have an old yet in pretty good condition, Angenieux 16-44mm 1:0.95 zoom. Would love some advice from anyone who's familiar with this lens. I tried to google this lens but there's very little information out there. It says 1:0.95, but what's the F & T stop on this lens? How common/rare and good/bad is this lens? I ran few test rolls on my Aaton s16 LTR but I don't know enough to tell if this is any better/worse than other Angenieux zoom lens. What is the mount on this lens? Here's some photos: https://www.dropbox.com/s/4xg2aagb2xqluvh/S_20140521-_MG_1957.jpg https://www.dropbox.com/s/xperqqfoxyjej1m/S_20140521-_MG_1955.jpg https://www.dropbox.com/s/5q5ypon0u61wk3i/S_20140518-_MG_1938.jpg https://www.dropbox.com/s/37tqr6a6ev88r6f/S_20140518-_MG_1943.jpg Any insight would be greatly appreciated!

Hello, Good morning. I am a set designer in the film industry who is often asked about the field of view on a particular lens -- so that we can see how much of a set the camera will see. I ask them what camera package they are using, then the aspect ratio, and then the lens. The missing piece of information, it seems to me, is the size of the film frame. Is this correct? If I know the size of the film frame (in inches or millimeters) and the lens (in millimeters, of course) then I can draw a diagram showing the lens in front of the film frame and figure out the field of view (as an angle). I wanted to just confirm that this is correct. Now this applies to celluloid film. Does it also apply to digital cinematography? If I know the size of the chip, would I be able to figure out super-accurately and will full confidence what the field of view angle would be? As you can imagine, when we are designing sets, it is essential that we know how much of the set the camera can see. When we film on location, where we can not wild out a wall, this is, of course, even more important. Thank you. Cosmas Demetriou Member Local 800

Hello, There is a pretty considerable price difference between the Angeniuex optimo lens and the DP. Aside from the limitations of the Dp with film cameras, is there a substantial difference in image quality and lens speed between the two? I shoot red one MX.. I understand the housing on the dp is a little "cheapy" but for how much more I will have to pay for an optimo, is the image going to be that much more superior and in what ways? Thanks for the input! Tim

Let me start by saying I just got this Arriflex SR1 about a month ago. I'm a newb. I just got my first lens for it this week. I bought this Schneider Kreuznach Xenon 1:1,9 / 16 Arriflex lens and I can't get it to focus. The SR1 I have has a bayonet mount. The lens I bought is a standard mount. But I can see where there is a little slot in the back of the lens that the tab inside the lens mount slides into. So I got it on and just can't seem to get the thing to focus. I tried focusing from wide open to 5.6. It is better the more I stop down but still not really in focus. I move the little wings to adjust the distance and still no luck. What am I doing wrong? I have 6 bolex lenses for my bolexes and using those are a piece of cake and I've shot (and developed) 10 rolls of film with them so far. The arriflex lens doesn't seem like rocket science but maybe I'm missing something or need to send the lens back. Or maybe I'm not focusing the SR1 correctly. Should I focus the viewfinder without the lens first? Thanks.
