  1. Lost in storage. She is inspecting an assault rifle with the military. Looked all over for it. Last time I saw it was 2 years ago when working in the storage locker. Now poof! Well, here is one from 1967 by Yousuf Karsh... Queen Elizabeth II April 21, 1926 - September 8, 2022 DDTJRAC
  2. Hi everyone! I was enquired today to possibly shoot a commercial for both the UK and the US market. I wonder what is the latest and best workfloor to output both in NTSC and PAL. Would it be best to shoot PAL - here in the UK - and then later just convert the finished piece or have an external recorder, recording in NTSC while the camera records PAL? I wonder for the latest method if it'd be problematic to match the colour grading as the files might be different. Unless using two external recorders based on the same type of file? Has anyone gone through this recently or in the last couple of years? Thanks Luca

  4. Good evening ladies and gents, I just came back from my C&G BS:7671 18th Edition exam and realised that I'm still missing some information regarding the legal requirements to call oneself a lighting designer/gaffer/spark in the UK. I thought maybe it would be a good idea to open a thread about these details especially here where(UK) you cannot just decide overnight that you want to be a gaffer but actually need to get qualified. My questions are What are the minimum requirements to call yourself a Spark or taken seriously as one? (besides BS:7671, I heard that also NA7909(3) is recommended to get things started) Do you need to get certified as an electrician to even begin your journey towards becoming a gaffer? In your experience as a gaffer, which qualifications/courses you absolutely had to get to be part of larger productions? Can you be part of an union if you are not fully certified as an electrician? (e.g. BECTU) How far can you wing it as an unofficial gaffer? (uncertified) Which is the point where the law prevents you from working on set no matter your experience? Thank you for your time and hope other users will find this helpful ^__^ Best, TheDragon
  5. UK's upskirting law can put as photog in jail for 2 years. More and more regulation unfoldingfor street photogs. This time freedom was only saved by 1 vote. No doubt when the one old timer blocking it dies off the millennials will pass it. The United Kingdom recently attempted to make upskirting illegal and punishable by up to two years in prison. But thanks to a single lawmaker, the bill hasnt become law after all. 71-year-old Sir Christopher Chope of Conservative party blocked the bill and he didnt give a reason for it Upskirting, as you probably know, is taking unauthorized photos under a womans skirt. Gina Martin started a campaign against it in the U.K. after she was a victim of upskirting in 2017.She was unable to file a lawsuit because of the gap in the law. Upskirting is not a criminal offense in the U.K., and the police reportedly stated that the photo wasnt obscene enough because she was wearing underwear. The proposed bill would put upskirting in line with other voyeurism offenses, making it punishable by up to two years in jail. As TIME reports, Prime Minister Theresa Mays government gave its backing to the proposed bill on Friday. However, Chopes objection means that the lawwill have to be debated again at a later date. According to the same source, the expected date for a new debate is 6 July 2018. https://www.diyphotography.net/uk-blocks-the-law-that-bans-taking-photos-up-womens-skirts/
  6. Hi Guys, I have a Magliner Senior in very good condition. It was purchased from Backstage Film Carts about 6 months ago. It's left the house for a grade total of 30 days, so absolutely perfect working order. It has been used as a DIT cart so it comes with the LCD HD Monitor Arm. A solid mounting point for larger monitors. It also comes with a Nose Centre Pin mounting point and an LCD Tild Head VESA mount for a second monitor. It also has an attachable keyboard tray. I paid £2300 for the cart in March. Looking for £1800. Based in Surrey, UK. Cheers, Matt matthutchings@mail.com 07701 016767

I've previously been finding my own work and wondered if having a diary service/agent has helped you get more work at all? Is it worth the money? Or just a waste of time? Thanks! Davey
