Jake Wolfert
Hi, I recently got a hold of some expired 35mm EXR 50D and Vision 1 250D. I believe they're probably about 15-20 years expired, but they were refrigerated. Any thoughts on how I should rate it?
Robino Jones
I would say the bare minimum is 1 stop of overexposure and 2 stops to be sure. If you have enough stock to do a small test that's the best way to approach it, just shoot a chart exposed in the middle, +1, +2, etc. Refrigerated 50D will hold really well, the 250D not as good but still nice. I have some 5247, 5248 older than yours and it looks amazing - it was frozen.

Site Sponsor Robert Houllahan Posted October 29, 2019 Site Sponsor Share Posted October 29, 2019 I would do two stops and a bright frame is your friend for this to push the base fog down. I really love the additional texture of old expired stocks.
