100w Videolight XLR 3-pin adaptor

Just been digging this one out.

I think that might come in handy as a little accent light or backlight.

Any idea how to power this baby? An adaptor for line current would be great. If there is one.

Are there new battery solutions out there? I used to power this with a huge car battery. Pretty inconvenient.

100W is quite a lot for battery power; equivalent to about eight amps, it's about the maximum you could reasonably draw from a large camera battery.

Assuming it's actually a 12V device, you could simply change the connector for a 4-pin XLR and fit a compatible type to any 12V power supply that's capable of enough current. If you end up buying one, look for a type capable of at least 15A, as you'll want some overhead. This may not be cheap, if you avoid poor quality types. Also, use high quality connectors, heavy cable, and do a good job on the soldering.

i think it's a 12v powered, to work with line power you need a variable power supply, cut away the xlr,you can D-TAP to a vmount battery or use a battery, duracell made this MN21 12v micro battery, if you use a variable power supply from 6 to 18v you can also dimm it down.

If using a V mount battery D-Tap make sure to check the D-Tap output can handle 100W, I know some IDX batteries for example only have a 50W rating on the D-Tap even if the battery itself can supply 120W.

What? That's a burglar alarm battery. It couldn't supply anything near 8A. Even if it could there's only 50mAh in it. Maybe a couple of hundred of them in series.
