  7. Hi David thanks for your answer..., i didn't know the helium gas help to cool the light inside... i was thinking that could be inflammable i think i was in the wrong way... Well, what i want to know was how the light source or all the elements are inside the balloon, how they are located in the balloon..., what i guess or imagined was it must have a several compartments to separate the gas in the balloon and the light source... that was my big question... I found this (Illumination system for balloons) description of some patent, that's a balloon light or again i'm in the wrong way... <_< http://www.patentstorm.us/patents/6602105-claims.html Thanks Xavier Plaza
  8. Hi, I'm looking some information about balloon lights, basically how it works...?. I find several places where they rent this lights, i find there are some types of lights like tungsten, HMI, mercury vapor and sodium vapor...I understand this is a very useful light but i can't imagine how it works or how they are not burned... <_< , thanks and waiting for your answers... 12.
  13. Hi, i know here are talking about shooting plan, but i think this could be relevant..., i found this blog about heroes i love it, and it looks very interesting because here you can find several directors inputs, producers inputs, interviews, storyboards, backstage photos, sadly no much cinematography inputs, but the point is there a lot of material about heroes, so if you are a heroes fan this is your blog, enjoy http://gregbeeman.blogspot.com/ I would love every tv show have this kind of blog...
  14. NYU at Tisch school, have a few cinematography programs, several weeks programs http://filmtv.tisch.nyu.edu/page/home.html Also The international film and video workshops have a very interesting programs in difference levels www.filmworkshops.com

  16. Hi Christina i worked the last 7 months with both cameras and definitely Panasonic HVX is your choice, Sony HDV cameras are to slow (ASA), and they don't really have 24p, they simulate... read this article maybe helps http://www.alfonsoparra.com/pages/press/e29.html Xavier
  17. Hi Jim take a look in this website you can find this material Griffolyn look this curtains i don't know the price but i use very similar material like silk and for me that help... http://www.reefindustries.com/products.php?id=7 Also look this website if you want to make your own equipment http://www.theasc.com/education/reflectors/page2.html I hope this help you :P xavier
  18. Hi definitely Kino Flo, 4x4, 4x2 or wallolite are your best chooise (my point of view), to hang your lights probably help you pump cups and autopole. I don't know your budget but perhaps a HMI with chimera entering by the window helps too
  19. This is what i'm talking about (road flags) http://www.msegrip.com/mse.php?show=articl...cat=4&ID=87
  20. Hi Jim on Road Flags (MSE), Artificial Silk diffuses and diminishes transmitted light by about 1.5 stops, in butterfly you can find they use White Artificial Silk 1.6 stops, when you use others home made "silks", you can find other types of materials replace the traditional silk, then you can see there are different density grades of silks, for this kind of "silk" is better test first hope help you
  21. ASC magazine (may 2005) have an article about Hard Candy, where the Dp Jo Willens say he use a 11 degree shutter angle..., gave to the image a crisp, sharp and made motion kinetic... I think what Chris say sounds logical, do some test until you obtain what you want; and you have to consider when you use a lot of shutter in video, you have to have a lot of light... hope help you
  22. Hi Louis with this valuable comments ( Dominic, Michael and John ) you probably have a better idea..., i just wanna add this, there are one big difference between HMI and tungsten lights, when you talk in "K"values there is not the same 1K tungsten and 1.2K in HMI, because HMI "K" have more useful light ( footcandles). When you use a 1k tungsten you have less foodcandles... I think 5K tungsten light it is equivalent 1.2K HMI always talking about footcandles... Let me know if i'm wrong and sorry for my english...
  23. Hi I have a magic bullet plug-in for After Effects, this plugin is useful to make color correction, you can choose a lot default items (bleach by pass, color reversal, warm, night, etc) to do that or you can make your own color corrections... Also you can add dust, scratches, flicker, grain, etc... I never listened anything about speed ramp in magic bullet..., obviously you can do that in post but sincerely i don't like it how it looks, to fake for me, just "video look"... Take a look those pictures, first photo you can see the magic bullet options and the second photo you can see how it works Look suite (color correction)
  24. peculiar thing..., it looks great David, i love the flowers colors, i just imagine this field at sunset... delightful enjoy your vacations
