  1. While repacking family antiques i found an unexposed role of Kodak Kodachrome II Super 8 date develop before 1972 still sealed and never in heat of sunlight. What are the chances of it still being usable after all these years? Yah, I know...fat chance. Nice box and packaging.
  2. www.cambridge-super8.org No entry fees - Deadline the 16th of February 2008 This link is busted. You get a popup and facebook.
  3. Looks nice. But, why are you selling it?
  4. Great skating. Your guys are all 10 feet tall and bullet proof. We know how many rolls of film it took but how many rolls of band aids did they use? Young guys heal between falls. Good work. I enjoyed it a lot.
  5. I trust it is in English. I would love a copy. If you want it available for the entire community you can post it on http://Super8aid.net/. Please PM me for a way to download manual. ken wood
  6. She is Johnny Johnson's gorgeous trophy wife. He's the NASCAR driver. I think she has a lot of new fans.
  7. I put my two Beaulieu S8 cameras on eBay today: 2008S in fair shape 3008S in near mint condition PM me if you need the link or search eBay.
  8. Anyone have an EZ source for 700ft Super 8 reels? I need some.
  9. It's working now. I just got in using FireFox.
  10. Thank you, Dan. I have never been to the Micro-Tools. Good stuff. I now have a new wish list.
  11. So, the KII is suitable for framing? Nice antique. Anyone have ANY info on what kind lube to use in S8 cameras?
  12. Recently I found a mostly pristine Super8 camera in a antique store. I spent $18 on it. It's a Kobena 421. I had never heard of it before. Rather well made. Almost all metal parts. The gears are all brass. One nice feature is the AA batteries go in their own separate holder which is then clipped into the rear of the camera. When I got it home and into a bright light I found that it had been dropped. Slight ding in rim of lens. No problem with lens but the main metal platform that holds the lens and other parts was bent. So, I disassembled and figured out a way to straighten the part. I also cleaned the brass gears and all glass. Surprisingly, I got it all back together and everything works. Meter Ok after new 1.35 Wein battery installed. My question is what should I use to lube the gears? Motor runs nicely but sounds a bit dry. I have some pictures of this little gem but they are at my office. I post a link to them later. btw: The Kobens even had a partially used Kodak II cart left in it. Guess I'll use it up and see what was already on it. Thanks for your help.
  13. It would decrease the value of the one I own and all the ones Mitch Perkins owns. Humor included.
  14. Matthew, My Son gave me a Sony Digital 8 DCR-TRV280 for Christmas. I works great. It only lacks AV In so I can't use it with a helmet cam. Still working on a work-a-round for this. Supports iLink and USB. Comes with software. Piece of cake to transfer to PC. I think you can find this item for around $225. Tapes are cheap. This is not the latest hardware but the price is certainly right. ken wood
  15. I think any standard tripod will work. I have the 814e and it works on all my 35mm tripods. For sound I am using Sony's MZ RH1 HiMD minidisc and mics that I made using electret mics. Minidiscs are fairly cheap. I paid $325 for this one and the 1GB optical media disc can be had for $5-$7. Editing software is the expensive part. Sony now has professional rated software but it costs an arm and leg; Sound Forge Editing s/w is about $275, and Sony Vegas +DVD starts at $575 unless you are a student and can prove it. Of course, there are many other softwares available, especially if you are using a Mac. I can't help you on choosing film stock. Suggest you go to Kodak.com and poke around.
  16. I'm watching your BBC and other UK productions via NetFlix @ $18 a month for as many DVDs as I can move through the mails. I must say compared to US TV you Brits get some very good stuff. Of course, most of what we watch is old stuff: Tinker, Tailor, Soldier Spy was a recent selection. On US cable and Satellite TV you spend a minimum of $50/ month for basic crap. (that's being generous) Fox News is about all I can stand. The TV hit '24' wont be back until March. I think we are all screwed. Maybe YouTube will take enough viewers away to get their attention. But I doubt it. This is what you get when you allow the State (your government) to allow monopolies to exist. In about 2 years the law changes and we can pick what is in our basic package. In th mean time, keep shooting film. It will keep you sane.
  17. Thanks, I'll test 1st. Also I have blue and yellow LEDs 10mm biggies. They are diffused so i think they should work well.
  18. I'm a real newbie on film. I am working on my 1st film, a si-fi spoof on the tech industry. Everything will be done in 'space' thus a lot of black background. All of my props will be laden with LEDs, 10mm to 3mm. Very bright colors red, blues, whites, orange. The other lighting I intent to use are some halogen spots to light scenes. I will be using Kodak Vison 2 200. Camera will be Canon 814. I hope to accquire a UII or UIII wide-angle lens. If there is any budget left. I think I will take some stills using slide film ASA 200 as a test. I guess my question is will the LEDs flare or will they enhance my shot? And, is there anything else I should be aware of to increase my chances of good footage?
  19. And, while you are at it, which Nizo is it?
  20. Matt, Check ebay. If you find model you like coorespond with the seller for minucia details. The 814s are built like trucks, so if it looks good in pics and seller says (and waranties) condition is near mint I think you'll be safe. I bought the 814e for a lot less than the 180&. Perfect except remote doesn't work. I think I can fix that. If you insist on mint do a google on the 814xls. There is a seller of perfect stuff in GB. But I think you will pay about double your budget. Good luck.
  21. How do you come up with a $1500 price tag for SATA RAID? I just bought an Adaptec SATA RAID 0 for about $60 and a 320GB SATA drive for $160. Now, if you need a faster SATA like 10000rpm you are up a couple hundred more. If you need full RAID 5 add another $250. I'm assuming that one already has the computer. So, I come up with either $220 or $550-$600.

  23. I have a pristine Beaulieu 3008S and it, too, has the 1:1 drive. I thought it was for use with sound. Are you saying that this mechanism can be fitted with a crystal sync motor in place of the internal motor drive? BTW: If you don't mind what did the total cost of crystal sync set you back?
  24. I bought same S8, too. Here's url for manual: http://www.mondofoto.com/manuals/canon814.html I just bought 2 carts of 64T from Dwaynes photo for $14 US. Best price I have found. And, they will process for $9US per card plus ship.($5 + 25cents each add'l) Very good service. You will love that S8.
