I'm really curious, can anyone explain to me how Doyle makes some things so colourful? Like the very green shots in Chungking Express or 2046/In the mood for love. Is this a chemical thing?

I've heard of Full Sail and, as far as I know people like it. Personally though, I don't think school is worth it. If you have a 3ccd camera now make some films get good and work on some indie projects. That's what I hope to do after I finish my degree in web design. Don't take my opinions to heart though, I'm only a student and I have no industry experience.

I was not too thrilled. The action and visuals as every one has said, amazing. I was curious about how they severed limbs in this movie. As I've never done anything like that I'm curious as to how it was done. Were those particular men cg? or was it live action with cg painted in. Or better yet did they actually cut off these peoples legs, arms, heads, etc. :-P.

I think the cuts on the first three shots should be tightened up, they last way too long and don't get the reel of to a good start. The shot at 48s is really nice, nice color I'm not a big fan of the bike sequence. It might just be the zooming into the wheel that irks me Overall I like it. As for the encoding and the video looking bright: I viewed it in the browser with quicktime and it looked washed out, however I saved it and viewed it with VLC and the brightness went way down. Some of the shots that had looked blown out now look really good. Maybe that helps you out I don't know. Good Luck.

Nice! I would defintely also recommend you put the latter shots in the beginning or even omit the shots that are currently in the beginning. I think that the latter half of the reel is much more professional and interesting. -My two cents

I'm making a film and want to make it in the 16:9 ratio, mostly because im sick of the 4:3 ratio and feel that 16:9 allows for much more interesting compositions. However the camera I'm using is the XL1 which has no settings for this. I'm planning on using FinalCut's letterboxing to change the ratio. For composition is the best way to modify the camera just by modifying the viewfinder with paper or something?

sweet thanks guys. I'm curious as to where you found out that information about the camera, and how do you know what kind of reflex system it has? Or were all consumer grade S8 cameras made with that kind of reflex system(cheapest kind?)?

so the meter is fine the way it is?

I'm using a Nikon Super zoom-8 with some Kodak 7265 Plus-X rated at around 100 ISO, problem is the light meter is dead so i have no meter. I was wondering if anyone could help me out. I have a Canon AE-1 with a reliable sensor. Both cameras have lenses with a 52mm diameter, my only question is does the size of the film affect the exposure? Should I assume that the AE-1 lets more light in because it has a larger film format or would the light meter be the correct reading for the super zoom-8? Any help with this would be appreciated.

I am curious about how Christopher Doyle achieves the look he does in 2046. Many of the shots have an overwhelming green or orange about them much of which has to do with the settings. I have very little lighting experience at the moment and am curious as to the techniques any of you think he used. Did he use different light sources (ie. flourescent for his greens) or maybe color timing during processing?

I can't find anywhere on their site that mentions MP film. Know of any other labs that might sell Motion Picture film in still cassettes?
