  1. Do a google search for one of the Aaton instruction manuals, they have a section on shooting in cold weather, it'll be the same basics.
  2. oh, dear, we may need one of these then... http://www.subclub.org/darkroom/splitter.htm
  3. http://motion.kodak.com/motion/Customers/Productions/index.htm seems like the big boys are still using it
  4. 16mm stock is just 35mm slit in half, if 35mm survives then there's no reason why 16mm wont too.
  5. An excerpt from the article: Digital archiving is also more expensive than film. One study found that a 2K scan of a feature film would require just under two terabytes to store. In fact, digital archiving is so difficult and costly that Kodak has just announced film specifically designed for archiving digital formats. ...as long as film is still going to be manufactured for archiving in the future then the technology and manufacturing processes will remain... for negative stock too.
  6. I would suggest shooting everything on your shoulder rig, that way you can keep up the momentum of the shoot. Using tripods etc will only slow everything down without the proper resources like grips or assistants. Concentrate on performance. and try to get at least one redhead for filling in, or bouncing light. best of luck on your shoot
  7. I've just bought an SI 2K mini for that very reason, I have a full set of S16 lenses and zooms. Once I get to grips with it I'll report on the results.
  8. Does anyone know the wiring diagram for the SI 2K ethernet cable to 12 pin lemo. I'd like to make up a short cable if possible.
  9. Total standard viewfinder unit, ie including handle prism and all optics. comes with the 4 allen screws that attach it to the top of the camera. Easy to fit. Great codition. £500 (UKP) plus post.
  10. Very, very sad news , condolances from everyone here in North Shields.
  11. If S16 lenses were used would we not just end up with a 2K camera instead of 2.5K...and would that not be acceptable?
  12. Shame , it would be a great way of getting wide angle shots with say an 8-64 canon zoom
  13. Although the sensor size is slightly larger than Super 16 does anyone have any thoughts on using S16 lenses and cropping in on the edit?
  14. what a great bit of kit!...I was a bit skeptical when I saw that you hadn't centered the lens on its axis, but the effect in the film is great. Well done!
  15. I think it was Storaro himself said that the reason he called himself Cinematographer was that he believed there was only one Director on a shoot.
  16. Thanks Gene..I wanted to check before I look for one.
  17. Does anyone know if the Italian (or Fellini) door for the arri2c has a zoom function on the eyepiece to aid focussing?
  18. Try i-dailies in wembley...Nigel on 07586333034
  19. Love the new red ray...here's another link http://www.pfonline.com/products/control-unit-for-gas-fired-infrared-burners
  20. Thats a Les Bosher sticker on the PL mount ...so he's probably been the one to add it.
  21. I've been given one of these servers...would it be any use as an editing machine. Plus I work on a mac pro (desktop)...Could the HP be used for a disc array on the mac pro? Sorry to ask but I only know macs and nothing about PCs. cheers.
  22. good lord, they're popping out of the woodwork wherever you turn!
  23. I suppose we come in all shapes and sizes, so the aaton may not fit everyone...the SR actually fits no-one.
