  1. I doubt that it will. It wouldn't be cost effective for them to modify thier equipment for it or dedicate a machien for it. Additionally the setup cost would be outrageous. You may find room for one small lab to tinker with it, but the profit margin would be non-existant unless they charged near-D.I. prices. The whole reason for the contemporary intrest in 2-perf is the introduction of the D.I. to obviate the expensive (in the case of 2-perf) and generation wasting optical process. But cheers to anyone who tried. - nathan
  2. I shoot with my holga all the time on Tri-X and Neopan. You get some pretty rad imagry. Blowing up the images give you what you'd expect from a plastic lens and leaky body, despite being a mf negative. The 6x6 format is my favorite, there is just something about a square aspect ratio that is kinda appealing for candid portraits.
  3. Congratulations on the camera. Is it a top-handle video tap or one that fits through the hole above the XLR4 port? If it's a top-handle tap you may need to get a wider angle optic at the end of the optical path that can see the whole S16 area. If it fits in above the XLR4, then it is using Aaton's 'Option R' relay optics. There are R16 and S16 optics and the only way to tell the two apart is to mount them and look through them. I might have one more S16 Option R left. They're terribly difficult to find.
  4. Film Runner, D'ya mind changing your display name to your real name in the 'My Controls' link? The first paragraph of the Forum Guidelines thus state:
  5. Danny, Please change your forum name to your real name under the 'My Controls' link to the top and to the left. It's a requirement of membership to the forum. -nate
  6. It's a box (typically wooden) that attaches to the front of a tripod (not a DV4) that holds AC items (like a slate or tape). You should be able to find them on StudioDepot.com or FilmTools.com
  7. Give Kodak a call. They usually will give out a roll of expired film or a roll in a dented can for free. You might also be able to just ask for a sample roll of a particular stock and use that. Fuji will typically do the same.
  8. Hey Lucas, The solution is to not rent from where I think I remember you said you rented from. >8) Call me on my cell and I can walk you through some things. - nate
  9. Don't quote me, but I remember hearing that Lowel repairs the lights for free, for life.
  10. ahh yes. The T4... Old School. I believe it safely charges 16v, but I'd have to run that by Girvan. The B2 splitter cable is a bit more complicated than that. It has a few inline components. Girvan should be able to make one. - nathan
  11. *cringes* It's one of those things you can do, but shouldn't. You can redline your volvo and race a mustang... but if you want to continue to use your volvo to pick your kids up from soccer practice, you really shouldn't.
  12. That about sums it up. People can go on and on waxing poetic giving faux eulogies... but that's all there is that needs to be said.

  16. Interesting, the majority of Vistavision camera I come across have Nikon mounts. The image circle from a motion picture lens will not cover the format, but still format lenses (essentially designed for the same format) will cover it. The motion picture 35mm format is four perforations vertical, Vistavision (and traditional still format 35mm) is 8 perforations horizontal. This is why they sometimes call it 'Lazy 8,' eight perforations on it's side...
  17. moved from General Discussion to Lighting. - nate
  18. Check out DR5 Chrome He processes B&W negative to make B&W chromes. I'd shoot tests to see if the process is relative to shooting motion-picture B&W reversal, but the two systems should be analogous.
  19. Can't wait to see the images. David posted some very meticulus notes on his methods. Right down to what lightmeters he used for which situations, thier serial numbers, when and by whom they were callibrated. I'm a little disappointed though, he failed to mention what he had for breakfast before he shot the tests. Very detailed. Very impressive.
  20. I haven't seen it yet but I know they shot with Varicams from Abel. I don't know what other formats they may have used.
  21. Eric Johnston of ARRI in Blauvelt mentioned the 2-perf movement at the SMPTE NY meeting for the new 16mm cameras a few months back.
  22. Tim, Looks like a beautiful specimen. Makes me miss my ARRI. - nathan
