  1. I like that way of looking at it. Just enjoy the process and learn something while doing it. As long as everybody involved understands that, you might as well. Not sure about the God thing but that's another topic we better not get into ? One thing though, if you post examples of your work, don't be upset if people give you honest advice. Nobody here wants to discourage you.
  2. Most of those festivals charge between $20 - $100 just to enter your film and thousands of entries at each festival are competing with yours. The chances of getting your film on screen are minute. You need a separate budget just for festival admissions. And unless you get your film into one of the big festivals like Sundance where you are competing against 15000 submissions (4000 of those feature films), festivals are really not worth the effort. If you want your film seen, I would put it up on Youtube for free and use social media to promote it. You won't earn a penny but you'll get more eyes on it that way.
  3. I knew you would dodge the answers to my questions. You are saying that only a few people like jewelers and others who need protection because of their line of work buy guns in the US? You know full well that this is not true. US civilians alone own 393 million guns, which is 46% of the worldwide total of civilian held firearms. That's 120 firearms for every 100 residents. Gun deaths in the US in 2017 amounted to 39000 while in the UK there were 60, that does include suicides. You can keep sticking your head in the sand or do the math.
  4. Make up your mind. First you say that wearing a gun has nothing to do with fear. Now you argue it is for defending yourself? You must live in a terrible place if you are that worried for your life. Thank you for validating my earlier argument. Out of interest, how many terror attacks have been prevented by gun carrying civilians? And how many people have been killed by civilians with easy access to guns? I’m sure you can see my point, no?
  5. What on earth would make anyone choose to wear a deadly weapon? Nor a pro-gun forum.
  6. Nobody is saying that you are a villain. For most people outside the US it is just a peculiar thing that people feel the need to carry a weapon. And maybe saying that people outside the US who do not need to worry about wearing a gun are less free isn't such a smart comment. I do wish you good luck with your low budget film and look forward to seeing it one day.
  7. Josh, on the one hand you justify wearing a gun by saying you need it for self defense and then you say you never had to draw it from your holster. It just isn't clear to me why you fear the world around you so much. Maybe come and live in Europe for a while and experience a life where there is absolutely no need to carry a weapon and nobody does.
  8. Freedom? You live in a place where you are so afraid that you feel like you have to carry a gun for self defense and you call that freedom? You are a slave to your paranoia. You're not free at all.
  9. This happened in the late 90s. Our large crew and hired gear arrived at a London city location where we had permission to film and arranged with the film office to have a bus stop removed for one weekend. When we got there, the bus stop was still standing and there was no way we could have removed it ourselves. The shoot involved a car that we were going to blow up the following weekend which was already booked with a stunt crew and five cameras. When we contacted the film office the Monday after the lost weekend, the woman in charge refused to accept responsibility and we had to promise her to not tell her boss, other wise she wouldn't remove the bus sign in two weeks time. We blew up the car the following weekend and then had to buy an identical model for the catching up the missed shoot. Very costly third party mistake we had no control over.
  10. It is always worth getting in touch with them and see if you can make a deal. 400ft is the minimum but again, just ask. 35mm develop and scan is expensive but since I do not own a car and have no mortgage, I can swing this occasionally.
  11. There's an Arrihead 2 for sale here: https://ebay.us/bliTbr I've bought from this seller before and he gets some of his gear from rental houses.
  12. Just watched the film and enjoyed it very much. Beautiful to look at. There is a small section where Radha is being interviewed and to my eyes looked like it was shot digital.
  13. The SR magazines and the 416 magazine do. The 35mm Arri cameras work differently.
  14. Maybe theses guys can help you or point you in the right direction. https://www.amcamera.com/services/ A PL conversion will be quite expensive, that's probably why you were able to pick up the camera for pretty cheap.
  15. In the meantime I did buy a LWZ.2 and am really happy with it. Also, I got it for a very good price. There are value drops with many used S35 lenses, even some of the wider Master Primes are dropping in price. Agreed. The colours and contrast of the LWZ.2 really are beautiful and I much prefer it to the Alura. I am thinking of adding a couple of longer Zeiss primes.
  16. Hi Tyler, Thank you, Ill have a go at that. The QT was made using the dpx file so there should not be a problem.
  17. Here's some more 'Home Movie' Kodak Vision 3 goodness for those who are interested. I'm still not in any of the shots but next one maybe. Again, this is the 2k Quicktime used for editing which I graded in Premier with the basic tools. I have to figure out how to replace the footage with the 4k dpx files. Any advice would be much appreciated.
  18. Surely for anything other than the stop motion part, you just meter as you would normally do.
  19. This looks like this could be the right setting. Always best to do a test, especially if you are about to undertake a time-consuming stop motion shoot. The DOF changes wider open and in lower light situations. Also it is nice to get your footage back looking correctly exposed. When I am sure of the result (as much as one can be), I try to just go a line or two under the mark.
  20. With single frame, do you mean exposing one frame at a time? Or shooting at a continuous one frame per second? If it is the latter, you should be able to simply set your meter to 1fps. The same with slow motion. Set your meter to whatever frame rate you want to shoot at. Your current F-stop will change accordingly. If your camera has a stop motion setting and that is what you are aiming for, I'm not sure if the shutter speed remains the same. Best check your manual. Overexposing one stop is fine. I tend to meter with the correct ISO and open up the aperture a little, not necessarily always a full stop.
  21. The meter is set to ISO 200? If you shoot single frame as in stop motion single frame, it doesn't matter what frame rate you are planning to play it back at. (why 50fps). Using a stills meter and based on the shutter speed of your Electric Bolex combined with ASA 250, I would meter like you would for a still photograph.
  22. The German expressionist production design may not be that appropriate for a French comedy ?
  23. True, Hitchcock did that but always for a reason. I was more referring to camera positions where it feels like a third unseen person is observing the scene even though there isn't one in the story and the scene doesn't call for it. While today this might look stylish, in those days I feel the framing language was more straight forward and less ambiguous.
