  1. Rare set of three lenses for sale: 35mm, T2,5 50mm, T 2,5 and a 80mm, T2,4 All with PL Mount Lenses come with: - front cap - rear PL cap; - new suitcase The price for all three lenses is USD 36,000. Lenses have metric scale. These are Russian vintage ANAMORPHIC NAS Lomo lenses with PL mount. They were used for a big movie recently and then inspected and serviced by Pure4C (Munich) These are 35mm camera format lenses. We used lenses on RED EPIC 6 K. These lenses create the vintage anamorphic look with amazing flares. Lenses are in great optical condition for their age. Focus rings works smooth as for 35 years old lens There are normal signs of use on lens casing. There is a possibility for a lens test in Berlin before purchase. The test costs € 80,-- (two hours) if you bring your own camera or 240 Euros (two hours) at a rental house including a RED camera Buyer must pay for the test in advance I advise to pick the lenses up in Berlin. I will not guarantee for damages during shipping! For more photos or questions: antonwelser@arcor.de
  2. Hi folks/students/eaters of knowledge I’m holding a workshop for cinematography set lighting. There are two four hour sessions being held at The Cove studio on Markfield Road, Tottenham, London on Saturday 18th August as part of the Fountayne Road Open Warehouse Day. It's aimed at people who haven't had any or little set lighting experience to come and educate their eyes by trying out things for themselves to see what the results are. A set is being specifically built for the workshop and it’s a fantastic opportunity to learn some real set lighting techniques whether for commercials, drama or music videos. We will also have a translight from Rosco to add a bit or reality to the set. So far Arri Lighting, Cirrolite (Dedolight and KinoFlo), Greenkit, Lightpanels, Rosco and Hive have expressed in interest or committed to supplying lighting, so a big thank you to them. This is being done at a really low cost due to the generosity of the studio owner Malene Oddershede Bach, the lighting sponsors and a number of other people contributing their help for free. As a result each four hour session is only £10! Here are the two links to book the sessions at Eventbrite, one morning session and one afternoon. Read the details of the sessions here and note that one session (afternoon) is women only just to try and get better numbers as women are under catered for in our industry for behind the camera (or light). https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/cinematography-workshop-session-1-interior-set-lighting-daynight-tickets-48718216497 https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/womens-cinematography-workshop-session-2-interior-set-lighting-daynight-tickets-48626522237 Jonathon Sendall DP, London UK

  5. Hey all! Newer to the forums here. I'm shooting a senior thesis project coming up next weekend, and like any student project I'm trying to always up my game to the next level. We're shooting a lot of daylight exteriors, and I plan on setting up a lot of 10x's with diff to just get some more control of the light and to keep it consistently soft on close ups. My understanding of the workflow between G&E is still growing, and I was wondering what the gaffers role would be on a daylight exterior scene? It feels to me more like we would only need a KG on a day that we're just flagging, rather than creating light. Wondering if anyone could elaborate more on this.
  6. I'm planning on lighting the set of half a plane practically with the classic moving ovals against the talent and background. I've got a few ideas as to how to create the ovals but then to have them move I'm struggling to think of a consistent method. Any advice on how to light the outside of the plane to create an even blown out background, and foreground, including moving ovals would be greatly appreciated. Chris
  7. So I am currently going into my senior year at film school, and am trying to work as a PA in LA this summer. I have some money saved up, and am trying to buy some essential gear to have on set. I just don't have enough money right now to buy all the essentials I have been compiling. Do any of you have any suggestions on which are the most important up front? Any suggestions are welcome. Thanks guys.
  8. Hello everyone, I need your help. I'm currently a film school student. I will direct a very short film/exercise (one day of prep one day of shooting) in 40 days. So the mood and the set design will be a weird mix between Kubrick films (2001, Clockwork..) and THX 1138, kinda. Anyway we have this 4 by 10 meters set at school, that has no ceiling. But I have one obligation for this exercice/short : only use a 16mm lens (on the Alexa). 10 meter long room, 16mm.. I'd better need something as a ceiling. I'd want something white I could use as a diffusion so that the ceiling would be a giant soft source. So I have two questions for you experienced people : What would you consider for the ceiling (doesn't have to be realistic at all) given a very limited budget. What kind of light could be use above that fake ceiling, to create a high-key look overall (the set will be mostly pure light with some black lines to give some perspective, the costumes black and white as well) (we have tungstenes up to 4K, hmis up to 2.5k I think and kinos) I'll also have some diffused light coming from the walls (I'll remove the windows of the set and place 216 frames instead) Thanks everyone !
  9. I want to build a 10m(L) x 20m(W) + 5m(H) mid century modernist lobby with a large 20m x 5m glass front (with dividers) and want to know how realistic it is to have such a thing built. Can I use anything instead of glass or not use glass at all? How much do you think the glass front would cost?
