cole t parzenn
You can only tell so much from a trailer but I already like this much more than any of Deakins's digital work, especially the motivated reverse key in the second trailer.
Manu Delpech
Pretty much man, I've said it before, I love Deakins' work on digital (although I don't care for Unbroken and Skyfall didn't impress me that much when I saw it again) but it doesn't come close to his work on film, like No Country or Jesse James for example. Premium Member Bill DiPietra Posted January 18, 2016 Premium Member Share Posted January 18, 2016 Thematically, Hail Caesar! also has that far-out feel of something like The Big Lebowski (1998,) which only the Coen Brothers can deliver. It harks back to the kinds of quirky & extreme films they were making back in the 90s (their best decade, in my opinion.) Looking forward to it. Premium Member David Mullen ASC Posted January 18, 2016 Premium Member Share Posted January 18, 2016 It also feels a bit like "Barton Fink". It's funny how kidnapping is a common plot element in their films.
Premium Member Phil Rhodes Posted January 18, 2016 Premium Member Share Posted January 18, 2016 In terms of the glorious, 50s-style movie within a move stuff, it's also a style I find completely intimidating. Wouldn't even know where to start. Not a clue.
Robin R Probyn
Looks like a classic Coen Bros romp of a film.. and is someone really going to say that this doesn't look fantastic because its digital.. :)..!!!

Premium Member Tyler Purcell Posted January 18, 2016 Premium Member Share Posted January 18, 2016 Looking forward to it! Sadly, it will be their first movie, shot on film and not projected on film. So sad. :( So glad they're working with Deakins again, their stories and his cinematic style go hand in hand.
