  1. Hehe, imagine an genuine ARRI shower cap. The DEFINITIVE for the Arri aficionado who has EVERYTHING! Cheers, Dave PS: A UV filter might also be a good idea to keep on the lens. Removes that excessive blue on a hazy day. I used UV filters to protect our SLR lenses on a beach shoot last year. Worked great!

  3. Hi David, the GG is Full Frame (photo) 35mm. but you can, of course, zoom in and capture only a S35 portion of it. I have never done that so far as most cams (fixed lenses and a close up lens) will not focus on the GG zoomed in. Cheers, Dave
  4. Hi Andrew, for a good all-around stand for small to medium size lights I use the Manfrotto/Bogen 004. I put 2k open faces on these all the time, albeit not at full extension and sandbagged if need be. The bummer is that Manfrotto has stopped making these stands and is moving on to the so called Stacker stands... For anything heavier I wouldn't use either of these... I have an assortment of heaver steel and alu stands for that kind of job. Cheers, Dave
  5. Hi Alexandros, I finally made it last evening. The end-of-film switch is a little spring loaded metal strip. It turns ot that it was bent down too much. I just removed the last roller to access it and bent it upwards a bit, counter pressing with a flat lade screwdriver. Now it works! Hm, the lock on mine locks alright. Strange! I'm guessing that the camera actually does go faster at higher speeds, but it seems it's not as as slow as it should be when you set the dial to really low rates (10fps eg.). We'll run a test today to see how it does... Thanks again! Cheers, Dave
  6. The never-ending LOCAM story goes on! I have gotten the cam to run w/o film if I press down the end of film switch with the tip of a pencil. Great! Strange thing is though, that the speed dial doesn't seem to affect the speed I'm getting. Well, well... :wacko: So I load the camera with film. What a bitch it is to load if you do it for the first time! But once you figured it out it goes rather easy if fidgety. OK. Camera runs with film if I press down that switch. Shouldn't it run without me pressing that switch too? Maybe once I close the camera door. I close the door, power up, .... nothing! What's wrong here? I really need to get that cam working ASAP! What am I missing? I'll re-read the RTFM for the umpteenth time I guess! :angry: Cheers and thanks in advance, Dave
  7. We haven't got it running as we want it to run ;) We just got the motor to spin. but I think the problem was the cut-off switch being depressed. I'll have more on that tomorrow. Thanks for scanning Alexandros! I appreciate it. Cheers, Dave
  8. Yes I know about the parts lists. But it would be interesting to have those in case one would need to exchange a faulty component! Ok, it seems I somehow read over that tidbit. We actually got the motor to run, so that is ok. The PSU does supply enough power to run the camera (over 8.5A). Thanks, Alexandros!
  9. Hi John, yes, the inching does run freely and smoothly. And I have already tried "kick-starting" the motor by inching with power on. Nothing happened... Cheers, Dave
  10. Ok, I rewired the wires. Voltmeter reads around 27.5V which should be more than enough, camera hums but doesn't move an inch! What could be wrong here, aside from the magnetic trip switch which I moved to several positions to no avail? Will the camera only run threaded with film? Is there some hidden fuse? Some magic button to press/depress? And does anyone have the remaining pages of the camera manual, mine only goes to page 51! So many questions! I hope there's some answers! Cheers, Dave
  11. I guess that's where the sun comes in handy. But if you were shooting with a fast lens, say opening up to a T1.3 40 amps should be enough. At least, in 230V country it would be. Cheers, Dave
  12. Sounds like a good idea. You'd just need to carry beefier stands to hold that up than you normally would. And I also assume that this would be harder to handle for two guys than a normal setup. What size of crew do you normally have for this kind of stuff? Cheers, Dave

  18. Hi Ernie, I got my Sennheiser K6/ME66 combo for around 200 Euro used. I don't know whether that's the best cheapish condenser mike, but I'm really happy with it! The cool thing is that it's a system, there's a number of capsules that fit that power adapter (K6 is the power adapter for +48 phantom and battery feed. ME66 is the medium shotgun capsule.).   19. Hi Vinod, I doubt that it is easily possible to do that. Since the 12-120 is a very common and rather cheap lens you're much better off getting a new one. and there's lenses out there which are much better too! (Unless you have a prime example of the 12-120 but most where not.) Cheers, Dave

  21. I guess you should be ok. All types of that lens are normal non-G lenses. Get a nice used 35-75 1:2.8. I got mine for 160 Euro. It's much sharper and overall better. Only drawback is that it's a push/pull zoom design. Cheers, Dave
  22. Hi Ron, yes they will. And most lenses don't have an integral the AF motor but use the one in the camera body. Those that have internal motors allow them to be switched of (eg. AF-S lenses have their own motors), with maybe a few exceptions, not sure right now. The real problem with new AF-G/AF-S G lenses is that they lack the aperture ring because this is set on the camera body (bummer!). Any specific lenses you want to use? Cheers, Dave

  24. Hi Mike, IIRC American Beauty had some nice examples of this type of effect. I thought it was really well done there. I'd really keep it realistic, most examples you see (especially on TV) look very fake. Cheers, Dave
