So you are publicly saying that Roger Deakins is getting paid by Arri, to sing the praises of Arri cameras .. rather than it being his own personal preference to shoot Arri digitally .. I would very much doubt that ..he might sue you ? your whole premise is sort of odd... film is dying because the big dogs are all on payola ... wow thats clutching at straws ..

Yes you could say film is for beginners ,and as such the young folk are embracing it .. But as they move up and gain knowledge and confidence .. like Roger Deakins and John Lindley (the best Team Deakins pod cast so far).. they can then move safely over to Digital ,at the peak of their careers .. I did this too of course .. and Im waiting for Rogers call...

Operating Whip Pans or Quick Landing Shots
Robin R Probyn replied to Nelson JJ Flores's topic in Camera Operating & Gear
As above .. I definitely wouldn't set the head to the stiffest settings for whip pans .. sort of defeating the purpose.. low not not off.. and body position where you don't have to move your feet or least possible .. in this example he's working off a monitor .. definitely helping .. using the viewfinder I think this 180 degree shot would be pretty much impossible body movement wise .. and grab those rods .. ! .. another point of contact -
I don't think your going to get a reliable V mount Battery for $150.. the usual suspects are up around $300 - 400 at the very cheapest

Pretty sure we used to leave it off.. generally Ive always turned detail and aperture off on any digital camera .. definitely any of the recent ones .. its the last thing you need ..

Cant remember on that camera .. but the f5/55 which has 4 SDI, outs... 1 & 2 are always clean , maybe one SDI is always clean on the F900 too.. Im amazed you can still get tapes .. I remember after the big earth quake in Fukushima, there was a shortage of tapes as Sony had factories up there . the prices went sky high . basically they never re built the factories as the disc camera,s were also coming out, I think it sped up the end of tape camera,s ..

I wouldn't be doing WBs for every shot either .. better to stick with presets most of the time ..

‘Moonwalk: A Sony Alpha Film’

Very unfortunate timing for the over heating " restrictions " of the Canon R5/6.. looks like Sony will increase their hold on the mirrorless market .. the only odd thing is although it has a ton of picture profiles .. there isn't one thats specifically S Cinetone "look".. which would make it a must have as a B camera for the thousands of fx9 owners as the fs7 / A7III can be a struggle to match .. only a vague comment that it will match Sony's new color science -
.. equally you work on the very fringes of the film /tv industry and no where near the main stream .. hustling for short ends out of peoples fridges .. shooting micro budget productions, doing 10 jobs.. in that sense Im working much more in the main stream than you ..and actually all my work used to be film ! .. my first days pay as a cameraman with with an Aaton... docs music video,s were all film ..I was camera assiant on film for 7 years, never went near a digital camera .. and that changed very quickly . filmed died .. simply stated again what Im saying is this is very likely to happen to the main stream feature film/ CM / big budget TV show market .. which is not your world either.. I mean there is hardly an argument .. its already happened .. neither of us are in that world so your opinion is in no way better informed than mine .. its just your personal; taste .. which isn't the topic ..

Where are you buying the tapes ?.. is there s secret warehouse somewhere.. Haven't used that camera in a million years but all the other Sony's Ive had and up to my fx9 now.. there should be a display out / menu out SDI item in there somewhere .. could ba Force menu .. ? just have to go through everything or try to find an old manual on line ..

WTF !..And your a feature film DoP.. ?? alot of irony in you, of all people on this forum, posting this ... Im just stating my opinion that film days are numbered .. it wouldn't matter what job I did .. Im not basing it on my personal taste , I think its of little importance in the making of a good film, just purely as an economic observation .. Im not a stills photographer but it would have been simple to comment on the way film went in that job.. sorry if its bad news
