  1. I am not keeping track but will Kodak offer a proper option of lenses? Bizare enough this shown TV lens costs no more than one film, possibly even without processing :) In the Super-8 days a camera would cost $1000 (1975 dollars) and Kodachrome would sell at $3-4 Like in this famous Super-8 saga http://www.retroroadtrips.com/ Not to mention the price of fuel :)
  2. Macro is a gimmick of the past. Few use it these days. Framecounting is convenient to keep track of scene lengths etcetera. If it remains on when the camera is off then you could tell how much is left :) Not too many cameras have framecounting.
  3. Try a set of AAA. The modern AAA have more capacity than the AA from the time of the design of the camera. You could even consider a set of rechargables. Voltage is slightly lower then.
  4. Most shoot Super-8 for its character and ambience. Not to have look like 16mm. If you want to view some super Super-8 try the clips from forummember: Jose luis villar http://www.joseluisvillar.es/ Shot using a 30 year old Beaulieu 4008
  5. The time open for starting a dispute in Paypal is limited to some weeks. Not months or years. Very brave to send friends to the house of people who are obviously stricken with bad luck and illness. See how bravely you would accept and find normal to advertise such behaviour when inflicted onto your parents or yourself.
  6. Do they really take these Rhonda cams apart and refurbish them? I was under the impression it was merely finding good running cameras and fixing funny leatherettes to these. Apparently there is an audience for these 5 dollar cameras at 300-400. Seems the website pro8mm is not working at the moment... 11:23 MET 10 3 2016
  7. Are you now supposed to enter the field without any further cover or fixture? It doesn't need the 3.6Volt? Seems, it is a stripped and partial rebuild by Pro8mm. No zoom or aperture-control on the lens. I recall they listed coloured versions for a while. Later they were always the same repaint in hammered grey. Or what is it called :) Or is it from Japan? There was a seller who had all colors. Mostly metallic look.
  8. Is the camerabody painted green/turquoise? Imagine the fingers to touch at three concentric circles at the base of the original battery. Indeed the centre is then 7.2volt (usually red), the middle 3.6 (yellow) and the outer ground 0.0 black.
  9. Thanks for the identification. I posted because the striking composition of the image and the role of the classic camera there. It also brings forward the advantage of the past topmodels from Canon, Nikon et cetera. The advantages of Super-8. Convenience with top quality optics. Only image stability is somewhat less when shooting without tripod or shoulder pod :)
  10. Who needs a new Kodak (or Logmar) if you can shoot Super-8 using gear like this: https://twitter.com/Kodak/status/705423083398668288 intro to: http://htl.li/YZH5Y "Super 8 Gets a Ticket to Hollywood on American Idol"
  11. I haven't exposed any 500T but I understand from reports that latitude is so wide that a general setting for an evening-street scene will suffice. I.e. use your experience or use a exporure meter suitable for low light. Advantage is that your images will not suffer from an exposure system interacting with light coming in or going out of the scene.
  12. There are no optics in the adaptors. So the focal length determines the view. The NALCOM has its own fitting and there are adaptors to accept several bayonets or screw lenses of those years. No C-mount though. Why would you want patents?
  13. It may be new when/if it comes to market. It will have no lens or this fixes focus thing which they used to demonstrate at the introduction. The new camera is more or less a film-holder and film-transporter machine. It has very little features so every thing must be adjusted by hand. A hard battle at $25 per minute of film when most barely know how to operate classic exposing mechanisms. So getting a proven technology machine isn't too bad an idea. You'll have it when you want it and most are feature laden, mostly with classic top lenses :)
  14. Your photos are way (4x) too big and mess up the page layout. This on a modern large screen windows system. Let alone on a tablet or Phone.
  15. Tri-X actually benefits from a filter switched in. It works like a light orange filter and enhances clouds in the sky. But then you can't as the camera swings it out when a cartridges is placed in which hasn't got the daylightfilternotch out :) I doubt there is actually a difference in R10 and R8 exposing. It is a standard feature on most automatic EE systems. More likely a feeler is not working properly then.
  16. The auction is for a service. Which is against eBay regulations.
  17. Thanks Carl, I hadn't looked at their website yet. What a laughable nonsens to present it now as if the stop was pre thought and was a cellebration of 50 years of Super-8. They gave up just like that after the beta 50 pieces? Most likely this was instignated by the Kodak co-op or it even was a requirement. Production would be too much hassle anyway if it could work at all from Denmark at Denmark costlevels. Maybe some will still want one. I doubt it will be collectable though, at all. There are plenty good options, directly available, elsewhere now.
  18. I haven't noticed any announcement that Logmar is abandoning their prime camera just like that after finishing delivery of the 50 beta-test cameras. I was assuming now things had gone quiet because they needed to work on the Kodak designs. I am not on their newsletter as I had no plans to purchase one :) I have plenty good cameras who will last till retirement and way beyond. The killing thing is the film and processing-service.
  19. Bill DiPietra, The early real Logmar really is priced after its cost. Who expects they can choose a selling price at will after spending so many months/years on design and testing? This while production most likely will remain well below 1000 pieces. I would be surprised if they go over 500. The Kodak Logmars are different machines. Logmar likely will be paid for their efforts and hopefully will receive a pay per piece too on these. Production will be outsourced to manufacuteres who can produce these by the few (ten) thousands Kodak hopefully will sell. Then all will be well. The main thing is for Kodak to drive the price per minute of filming down. Forcefully.
  20. The last versions Super-8 cameras from Canon, Nikon and others have perfectly usable viewfinders. The R10 is just as nice as a High Eyepoint on a Nikon F3. Nobody complained about these. The OP makes clear what a good modern housing design can do for a product :) Technicians may like 19 inch rack gear or cuboïd lab shapes. Others like a good colourscheme and shape design. It makes all the difference in retail and sales numbers. Nothing against a good R10, Nizo or Beaulieu 4008 6008 :) These remain usable as before. Most have very low milage and will last for another decade! Unless filmprices go down substantially and people can shoot film again as if it were water :)
  21. How did you align the frames of the cameras? Backlight projection or such? How does one keep the focal-length equal while on location? And are the cameras running in sync or is there no need for that?
  22. Everybody yaps about pro8mm. From the spontaneous reviews one would hardly regard these as a good service supplier. Certainly not for consumer or small scale filmers. If it is not Kodak than Dwayne's would need be to be the first to be invited. They have tens of years of experience with supplying processing service to the masses. With a possible upgrade to their machines and adding a scanning line they can be in business in no time. Just my two cents.
  23. It is an unlikely to be true assumption that KODAK will not scan HD properly. There is hardly SD equipment left. Why would they seek to use outdated machines? 100 ft in the room of a 50ft is only possible using very thin film. Which likely doesn't help image quality much. Since the new camera has a built in microphone it will be designed such that it is very well usable. Almost funny how end-users without any skills in engineering and design think and write as if they know better than a design team of a company which is risking millions in this project.
  24. Even without the camera the new style of processing service is an example how things should work. People send in their film and all in one tariff they can expect their film soon and a digital copy most likely will be made available through an online downloadservice. I.e it will be available the day it was developed and/or scanned, saving a week or more of waiting. A way of working current labs should/could have adopted years ago. But these thought everything was just nice like it is and just let the customer suffer the shipping time-delay of shipping it to the lab and then to the scanservice. Now see when Kodak actually starts processing...
