  1. What is unfair? Chosing a skilled filmer and writer over a student with little experience? Contact Logmar and see if you can use it around the Logmar location. If so, pack your films and then travel to Denmark :) Processing at Andec on the way home.
  2. Possibly you are doing a blackwhite reverse on a color negative? Then the orange mask turns blue. The orange mask needs to be taken out separately.
  3. It is all very cumbersome. You could use flash in the dark and expose twice :) You could externally rewind or on ZMII and ZM4 use a rewind knob which you need install on the drive axis. Otherwise use Single-8. A number of these cameras have excellent rewind and multiple exposure.
  4. Put an Neutral Density filter of 8x (3 stops) on. Make sure the exposure system works through the lens otherwise reduce the ISO value. If the camera exposure system is on ISO 100 it will underexpose a film of ISO 50.
  5. They better start work quick on the first large production batch. Slow supply after introduction is about the worst thing that can happen. I feel they are loosing the momentum already. But then there weren't any new cameras for 25 years so what would a few months make for a difference :)
  6. Likely it did :) Considering what they want for 'refurbished' cameras like the CANON 310 with Rhonda's lepard print. And the money for Phil's hairdresser must come from somewhere. The early price was just unrealistic low for retail let alone wholesale. Even if they manage to sell 250 pieces and minus the production costs they make one Euro per hour for research and development.
  7. Use a Fujica P2 Or Canon AF310XL who are modern lightweigth enough. Draw power from the main battery or use AAA in a clip or use AA adapters
  8. Good luck to Logmar. Let's see what they make of the pricing. De pro8 operation has bit of different burning rate than the Logmars. Unfortunately/likely the distribution in Europe goes to Wittner. Then we know what we can expect there too. Did anybody ever check with Kodak if these intend to remain in the S8 market?
  9. It is a metal rod with a plateau on which a second eyecup sits. Just to blind the eye which can't look into the viewfinder. Should be adjustable if it is not custom made for one sinle person. Peopl ehave different eye-to-eye distances. It is not an optical thing which allows to view through two eyes :)
  10. Indeed the imagery isn't too pleasing. Bumpy and very poor focus quality. Or was it so poorly scanned? S8 cameras tend to weigh a lot compared to the copter liftcapacity. So you would need a big one. The advantage is they can run from a few AA rather then NiCd packs. It has been discussed elsewhere. A long time ago there were amateur rockets which would have a special dedicated S8 camera on board. It used clips of film in small dedicated cartridges. Considering the cost per minute I would try to use the remote control of the camera. And attempt to shoot only when there is chance of something interesting. Also it would be better if there was something to see moving down on earth. Image quality is just too poor for scenery. Regulations likely forbid flying these things over people and to film people in their homes and such. So it must be sideviews of trains, autobahn, wateractivities etcetc.
  11. I am aware how things work. Considering the rather low price it is a smallwonder they can produce and deliver without losing money. If they have to supply wholesale from that to some it seems to there will be no profit at all for Logmar. Hourly rates for skilled labour in Denmark aren't that low. Considering the pricing philosophy of Wittner and Pro8mm on rebuilt cameras I expect the Logmar will need to sell at some $5000 They are no pricing low on gear to make a few dollars on films and services.
  12. These area all "auf Rohfilmkern (Bobby)" I.e. a core. Not on 200ft spools. Wittner would need to restart their 200ft spooling department. And have spools manufactured.
  13. Good luck! Makes one wonder though what will happen to the price of the camera. The originally posted price doesn't allow for these kind of happenings and expenses. How many could they possibly sell? 200? 500? And resellers should sell at the same price as Logmar themselves? How could these resellers possibly make a workable profit on the sales? Remarkable how the 200ft option has become part of the camera. Is there still production of spools? And is somebody filling these?
  14. It doesn't have a screwthread. And the LCU is fixed to the tube too.
  15. Has told before DS8 long rolls are a standard intermediate form in the S8 production. It merely suffices to roll a number of these long rolls onto 100ft spools. Every S8 batch could supply a few of these long rolls. It is just being stubborn.
  16. I always thought the big guys perforate film using large wheel mechanism where one wheel guides the film and has the die built in. Another wheel has the punches and interlocks. Interval is then insured by the punching wheel. It seems even the biggest now use BUKO style perforators which have up and down travelling punches with the guides a few perfs ahead. Kodak can supply the DS8 batch without a modifcation to their perforation process. It is just handling the pancakes and confections the DS8 spools. :( So Kodak, come on with these supplies! We'll settle for a SO typenumber of film. No fancy cans or labels needed!
  17. Considering your enthousiast review on Filmkorn of the new ADOX in Super-8 it would nice to hear if they (fotoimpex/adox?) will confection 16mm, R8 and DS8 :) Jitter in camera is caused when the film is moved after the claw pushes it into position. As it happens too often on S8-cameras with too strong pick-up torque The claw fits with plenty room in the perforation, it advances the film by pushing the leading edge of the perforation and leaves it at a fixed point. It doesn't matter if the hole is exact or not. The essence of the design and specification is that there is play. With R8, 16mm or DS8 there is a loop keeping system which may be off a bit due to age which possibly is also influenced by the smooth winding of film. Which then leads to the misassumption that the perfs of some are causing this. One problem would of course be if the perfs used for projection are not the same as the ones used for exposure when ther would be deviations in the interval. Some projectors use 3 frames off while cameras are one off.
  18. You suppose somebody is just going to call on your behalf? And that Willard will discuss a customer's camera with a third party? Just write a letter on paper and ask for the bill and the return. Or just buy another from Europe. These R8 really don't cost that much and for the shipping and duties you can have a replacement.
  19. Thank you for the explanation :) The vimeo demos look very good. Many people can only wish to have such images of their personal history of 50 years past.
  20. Did you mention this 'hopefully' to the couple?
  21. ST-1 are frequent and often at a bargain. These of course have the cable with a Leicina connector. It would be hard to obtain a single connector cheaper than with a ST-1 I think. Sometimes $2 components from the past can now sell at Euro 40 Through the DIN taperecorder connector you an connect to the remote. Also using a female DIN you could adapt to the cable directly and connect your own switch(es). Or Arduino like apparati. The ST-1 does most work but maybe frame-counting or advanced exposure control could be of use/desired. :)
  22. I don't know about the winding but the age past 2009 should not be a problem. Fogging doesn't occur theat quickly and especially not when frozen.
