  1. Camera in small housing. A bit like a bullet (from an Elefant rifle). Round shape, lens in front, cable from the rear. Easy to clamp in a holder. It is a bit of pre gopro thing. People used them for filming from a head-band , I believe. Output analogue to go to a recorder or screen. Or now digitizer.
  2. There is a specially designed machined brick of coated aluminium which can take a 4008 and mount a pair of rods to the camera. I am not sure if it is on eBay. It cost more than most pay for their 4008 🙂
  3. The Leicina should be too hard to fix. A nice low body and firm thread-position. The budget rod systems often enough have a small block to lift the camera (a dSLR these days) somewhat up to allow the focus to fit underneath. This works well with the Leicina. 🙂 The 6008 needs a wedge to make it point horizontal when on a horizontal surface (like your tripod head with a rod-set). With that it should be possible but the optical axis is fairly then. Also the grip interferes with positioning a focuser 😞
  4. ask super16inc before attempting anything other. Others will charge arms and legs.
  5. Cover the cartridge is difficult. The cart wil be pressed againt the gate. THere are hubs protruding. On the right-side there will be the claw advacing the film.
  6. Covering half the frontlens is not going to produce clean separated half-images. Mind the graphics of lightbeam through lenses from physics class. Beams hitting left or right in the frontlens still make it to both sides. Best were to cover half the filmgate in camera. Mind that when filming the image is left-right swapped on the film.
  7. Even today! Although no factory stock left. With a detailed list.
  8. Now sell your car when you want the work done 🙂 Possibly best to ship to Bernie at super16inc. He is a certified lens repair specialist. Angénieux and Schneider or what more.
  9. If you cannot locate a suitable housing you will have to divert to the classic EWA underwater camera system-bags 🙂 It is remarkable how durable these are while other plastic or rubber items detoriate after so many years. It is DDR quality.
  10. It will be difficult to find any readymade and then be more affordable. Often enough it just gives the same metre price. Possibly there is Ektachrome in S8 from Pro8mm but that will be limited to specialty fillers like single-8. This a extra from their attempt to revive DS-8 The film more economic you may need to turn to Fomapan 100 Reversal in DS-8 in rolls of 30 meter. THese need to be split. Giving two strands of S8 in 30 metres. That can be used for S8 refill cartridges. Getting it processed is then another task 🙂 Best to DIY using a FOMA kit. But then you need a big tank. If needed I can help with the splitting. I have a setup for that. BTW splitting 10 metres rolls might work too. Easier to handle, less length in cartridge though. Film will fit the smaller Lomo tank which is easier to find.
  11. In UK you now have Gauge film. Even with machines and such. And considering brexit no worries about duties 🙂 He can use the business as he has anounced to not take any film from the continent due to customs complications in receiving and returning.
  12. Likely the machines have more capacity to produce film than the collective filming people can (afford to) shoot 🙂
  13. Interesting to see you run a lab. www.johnsalimphotographic.co.uk Is this in full operation? I.e. also the odd films like MINOX? Too bad the brexit is going to uproot all cross border exchange.
  14. Certainly nice stills. Could go as intended photographs 🙂 That is a skill! Like Eliot Bristo on his US tour in the 70-ies
  15. Seems to me to blame it on the cartridge 😞
  16. ST-1 is nice when filming from tripod and it gives some extra functions. THe standard battery box alos doubles as a forehead support. When filming handheld it is convenient to have an original batteryholder, with cushion pad 🙂
  17. Maybe just try? Although that is difficult with rare items.
  18. Possibly the feeler near the filmgate has been bent. Otherwise part of the mechanism parts inside are stuck.
  19. That is about it 🙂 Make sure it is smooth and mind the springs and feelers who protrude through the gate metal at several positions.
  20. Good luck. Fomapan R100 makes for very beautiful images. Very nice in projection. The bleach in the original Foma kit is one-shot Kalium-Permanganat. The film gives off a lot of grit during bleaching. Careful when mixing! Strong acid involved. GLoves and glasses required.
  21. the 7008 with sd-8 is in several scenes. It looked like one with 6-180mm from a certain angle but from another it seems more like a telephoto on an adapter.
  22. Here is the 6-180mm zoom in action, in its own time: 50 min of docu on S8
  23. Interesting, spend an hour 🙂 Docu on S8 history With real life contemporair Schneider-Kreuznach 6-180mm f/1.8 Variogon lens for Beaulieu Super 8 camera in action, along with SD-8 magazine. A ton of equipment. Not to mention the film charge.
  24. Qualtiy of Kahl films was variable and often poor. It is expired material, poorly perforated and sloppy packaging. Often you get 12 rather than 15 metres and riddled with particles or hair(s). Kahl has ceased film production. Odd enough. They limit themselves to scanning now. If you want a material for future use, don't count on this product.
  25. It seems that without much ado filmshooting has reopend after 1,5 year 🙂 https://www.filmshooting.com/forum/index.php Times have changed quite a bit. Here and there lots of yapping and santo wars. Otherwise plenty good documenting threads from a time when people still typed full sentences 🙂 And even paragraphs. Now see if super8man's website will be online again.
