Wiring Diagram for Original Bolex Power Connector
Robert Ditto replied to Robert Ditto's topic in Bolex
Hello Jean-Louis! I have the hand grip but dont use it. Would rather get rid of it actually. I do have rhe flat base adapter that I use when not shooting crystal sync. I also have the Tobin Crystal controller for shooting sync sound. If I need three power out puts for all three of the different connections, that is fine with me. But I would like to run a single connection to the box from the battery, then break it out into different sockets connections for the different connectors on the motors/controllers. Thank You! Sincerely, Respectfully, Robert M. Ditto -
Good Evening Everyone. I was wondering if any of you Bolex Tinkerers out there could help me with a project I am working on? I have a very good 12v DC battery and I would like to build a power connector box that would have both a 4-pin XLR connector to run my Tobin Motor and an original Bolex connector to run my EBM. Or I can just have the XLR but will need to make an XLR to original Bolex power cord. Either way is fine with me, I just need to know how to wire it correctly. I dont want to ruin any of my equipment. Thanks Sincerely, Respectfully, Robert M. Ditto

Tobin motor from Duall camera. Crystal Control, fits easily to the body, but hurry before he sells out of them.

Thank You, Dom. I appreciate your time anyway. Sincerely, Respectfully, Robert M. Ditto

Hello Dom, Can you tell a person where to find a G series maintenance and repair manual? I own two G16s and a G816 that I would relish the opportunity to restore. Sincerely, Respectfully, Robert M. Ditto

Hello Everyone, I have been researching and developing a Video Assist System for Bolex Reflex Cameras for a while now. Thus far, I have discovered that almost every system I have come across uses a mintron camera with a custom adapter fitted to the Bolex Diopter. I have tried looking for one of these cameras to purchase but cannot find them without buying someone's entire camera system. Does anyone know where I can source one of the cameras or suggest a suitable alternative? Sincerely, Respectfully, Robert M. Ditto

Roger Sharland was a gentleman amoung gentle man. I have spent the past 6 six years corresponding with him, purchasing various parts, pieces, tools, and books from him. His passing will be severly marked in the world of Bolex users and filmmakers of all kinds. He touched many filmmakers lives of all kinds, and was a man never afraid to lend a hand, and generous with his knowledge. He will be missed forever. Roger, where ever you are, may you find peace and joy, for always and eternity, farewell my friend and mentor, you were ever kind and generous, thank you and you will be sorely missed. Sincerely, Respectfully, Robert M. Ditto

At least let me clarify, I mounted the lens on my Bolex EBM and zoomed all the way in on the house next door to mine which is approximately two acres across the span. I focused the lens and zoomed out and lost focus as I did so. Then I tried the reverse with the same results. After that, I zoomed mid way, focused the lens, and zoomed in both directions, loosing focus either way. I do not know if this is a fault with my lens, I have never had it collimated or serviced as I dont use it. It is kept with my Bolex collection items. Sincerely, Respectfully Robert

And the answer would be a no, you loose focus as you zoom in either direction. Sincerely, Respectfully, Robert

That is a good question. I do not believe so, but I am not at home at the moment. When I get there here in a bit, I will check and get back to you. I have one of these lenses that came with my first EBM, but have never used it. I use Tamron SP SLR zoom lenses when filming, and Hexanon Primes.

Hello Tim, How is the book coming along? Any news on its' availability? Sincerely, Respectfully, Robert M. Ditto

At the very least, you will need a PL mount to Bolex Bayonet mount adapter to use the lenses. I cannot comment personally on the lenses themselbes though. If the lenses are large enough glass to cover the gate, I dont see why they wouldn't work, assuming they are in good condition optically of course. Sincerely, Respectfully, Robert M. Ditto

Color Grading Digital For Film Like Results
Robert Ditto replied to ryanstrong's topic in Post Production
Hello Ryan, Have you looked in the the Tiffen Dfx v3 package? You can view their webinars they have had for the last couple of weeks on you tube. The stand alone package is only around $200 but for the Aftereffects Plugin it's $700, but you can pull off some very awesome effects with the package, AND if you do go with the added plugin, the controls are right there in After Effects so your work flow doesn't have to change, OH and btw, with the plugin it comes with After Effects, Final Cut, and Adobe Premiere Pro in one bundle, AND if you make changes in After Effects then move over to Final Cut, the information moves with it. It is one of the best pieces of software like this I have seen at this price level. Sincerely, Respectfully, Robert M. Ditto -
Hello Robin, I don't think your night shots were under exposed at all, every piece was absolutely spot on in my opinion, absolutely beautiful footage! Sincerely, Respectfully, Robert M. Ditto

Has anyone thought to ask if Kodak will sell some un-perfed 50D that Mr. Nowill could run through his machine? Wouldn't that make it usable by both camera systems? -

Did someone say my name? Hey now, Nicholas has been working hard to get this, he has been on the phone, in forums, sending emails, and everything else he can think of to get this. Which is more than some of us can say, I know because I am one. I have been working hard to get pieces together for a great film gear set-up, all the while stock is slipping away. -
