Tube lighting Fixtures
Edward Lawrence Conley III replied to Saim Tariq's topic in Lighting for Film & Video
Are you close to any rental shops? You need to be able to see how the Kino lamps are connected and then you can make custom wiring harnesses from Kino parts that are available for purchase. You still need the ballast to drive the Kinos so it isn't really a cheap DIY project. Although you can rent those relatively cheap. http://www.filmtools.com/kino-flo-har-4801-single-locking-harness-4.html?nosto=nosto-page-product1 -

Top Down Infinite Black Lighting
Edward Lawrence Conley III replied to Jason Chua's topic in Lighting for Film & Video
In the photo world we would build a 20x20 Black box out of 20x solids or ultra bounce- they're much lighter. 20x20 Frame 4- Hi Hi Rollers or Mombo combos at each corner or Wind Up stands. Solids all around. -

Waiver form for actors
Edward Lawrence Conley III replied to David Edward Keen's topic in Business Practices & Producing
You have contradicting ideas. ....You say you take safety seriously yet you want people to sign a waiver to cover something they have no control over i.e fog machine you bring to set. If you do take it seriously then you get insurance for your shoot because.. as you mentioned..accidents do happen. Waivers are for activities in which the participant acknowledges that the activity they are about to engage in can be dangerous and cause injury. -
Scrims Storage & Travel
Edward Lawrence Conley III replied to Reggie A Brown's topic in General Discussion
If you are packing them up in a car I would look into Road Rags. They travel a wee bit better. -
Around here we can get a Tow plant and distro pretty cheap. If you only need to power up 1 M40 then a 6500/7000 watt may make sense as you can get them in a cargo van. 6500/7000 is $155.00 a day plus a couple 60amp bates @ I can have a 250 amp tow plant delivered for $85.00 and the daily rate is $325.00 500amp is $395.00

HMI Repair Costs
Edward Lawrence Conley III replied to Jesse Starks's topic in Lighting for Film & Video
I imagine you would need to check what the local repair shops are charging in Germany. Ramstein- spent a few years there as a youth on the Air Base. -
Where are you located? We've put mounts inside 5ks to hold a flash head. Matthew Rolston shot a lot of his portraits using a Mole 5k with a Profoto twin head inside. I also have a 2k Arri whee I drilled through the back and mounted a Profoto adapter ring. Yup 4" Hole through the back of the Arri Studio 2k. If you are just using them as props then rigging a different lamp base for a lower wattage tungsten globe inside is relatively easy.

Documenting illegal activity
Edward Lawrence Conley III replied to Kenny Williams's topic in General Discussion
I think he is asking more about the people in the film/show that are not hiding their faces. Not so much how the Filmmaker gets away with making the show. I don't think Ive seen footage that takes place in America where they haven't blocked out the participants while engaging in illegal activities. There certainly might be and if there is and the PoPo see it they will certainly go after the criminals. Cops have busted people through their stupid FB postings. I have seen footage from around the world where they follow poachers and the poachers don't seem to care if their face is seen. -

Beadboard - names and confusion
Edward Lawrence Conley III replied to Will J. Lokken's topic in Lighting for Film & Video
Those all look like a version of the Beadboad-Styrofoam. Foamcore is a smooth surface. It is usually used as a backing for mounting artwork, photos and anything else you need displayed. -
