  1. Hi there everyone! greetings. I had sent my Arriflex SR3 for repairs at Arri NY. They did work on it and sent it back. I had barely shot 7-8 400ft cans and the same problem emerged again. I had paid close to $1000 for service and shipping. Does anyone think I need to be paying again for the same job to be worked again on? Don't they stand and vouch for their workmanship? I want opinions and experiences of cinematographers who own gear and have gone through these type of problems. thanks
  2. how much are you quoting for this? send me an sms on +1 242 475 1733 or email me at svnamah@gmail.com
  3. Hi there everyone, Just wished to know what kind of circular filter would fit/cover a zeiss 11-110, a super 16 zoom lens? Will a Tiffen 86C from B&H photo video be good enough? thanks

  5. Will, I guess you were right. Their reply came day before. I didn't know about the thanksgiving holidays. cheers

  7. Hi Will, thanks for the input. I did write to Abel Cine. They are willing to service the lens but have asked me to approach Arri East coast for camera service. I will try Dual Camera too. regards

  10. Dom, thanks for the reply. I have never had the need so far to use a splash bag. So i don't know much about it. The splash bag will be able to accommodate an 8mm and 11-110 zeiss zoom? how big is the window? does it have a glass port? I will google rain-x. thanks
  11. Hahaha Adam, for the lack of right word I used 'marine-use'. well, I wish to know what are the best ways to protect a camera and a lens from salt water over prolonged use at sea. if you have some tips please do share. regards
  12. Hi there everyone, Greetings! Looking for inputs from senior and experienced Cinematographers as to how best to water proof a camera and the lens. The camera in question is an SR3 to be used for prolonged use at sea, but certainly not underwater. Is a splash bag good enough? how do you cover the lens front element from salt? regards
  13. Bill, thanks for starting a great post. Trust me, I was not so sure that there will be so many backers for Ferrania's kickstarted campaign. Quarter million dollar mark was reached in less than a fortnight. This is amazing. There are so many photographers and cinematographers who want to use film. Film is far from dead. I guess a lot of people who went digital saw the truth and came back to analog (or want to). Now I am eagerly watching how the response will be towards Nolan's and Quentin T's IMAX, 70mm, and 35mm print run releases. Hope people see the beauty of print projection and hope this trend catches on. cheers
  14. if 2 or 3 more movies open the summer blockbuster scene with IMAX and 70mm prints, then it might just become a trend.
  15. Yes, I made a pledge and contributed towards 100 more years of analog film. and as Todd Anderson says, those film packaging hits the write note - vintage and Panama cut cigarettes.
  16. The way India fell off the 35mm print market is unprecedented. 35mm projectors were sold for as low as 900$. I was offered one from a multiplex and they said they will even store it for me. "Just buy it please, we don't see any use for them." Except for few quality multiplex exhibitors who have 2K projection system, rest all are poor quality. and the worst part is people are okay watching that HD or 720P projections in smaller cities and don't seem to be bothered at all. In this film digital war, Bollywood did not realise what hit it. The quality of films have suddenly tanked. There was a time around mid 2000s when our films, all being shot on 35 and digitally graded, were looking good, some were at par with west. Now we run the risk of turning into a video parlour industry. wejust don't have the foresight or the sense to realise what does it take to shoot digitally - interns of additional crews and equipments. Its just like a low end TV shoot.
  17. Ahoj Matek, why don't you ask Jan J fillip (Honza) in Prague if he would like to pick this. He knows many other cameramen too. You can contact him on FAMU page. cheers

  20. I had something similar with my SR3. had inverted ghost images in the frame. And a couple of times there were loud noises in the magazine but the pictures were not affected... Maybe because the winding of the negative is tight or sticky I guess. trying to figure this out.
