  1. Would they accept the middle ground of you just buying a lens cap (probably way less than $50) and just giving it to them as a replacement?
  2. Jesus Christ the iPhone can shoot 120p?? Is there like a serious data catch to this?
  3. Guys we're straight up being mean to China right now..
  4. I knew he had good titles to his name but after a quick re-check of his IMDB page he had like... a lot of good titles to his name. Shawshank, Fargo, Big Lebowski, Beautiful Mind, Jarhead to name a few. What some could consider tragic about his career is being the Buffalo Bills of cinematographers. 13 career nominations in 21 years (at one point 2 in 1 year) and never pulled an Oscar home. I've come to acknowledge that anyone with multiple well known titles to their name is great at what they do. To sum up potential debates like these, "who's a bit greater than the other!?"
  5. What about changing the shutter speed to assist with the faster frame rate? Is it really still high quality if your DSLR cuts the recording resolution down to 720p? Those are some questions to give more depth to your tutorial video.
  6. I'm sure it can get passable through a good pre, but just about any XLR mic can do that. I'm not sure if Mr. Thousand-Dollar-Budget will have good portable pres available to him.
  7. I guess I was going off of the newer Canon DSLR's that were designed after their camera caught on specifically for video. However I've heard the $100 RODE video mics and it's really difficult for me to see how something that's free could be worse lol.
  8. Don't most cameras in that price range just have a built-in microphone for reference audio? Why would you drop 60 for another bad mic when you already have one built in? $60 saved.
  9. Check eBay more, you can pull a nice used deal for around $600.
  10. Yeah I'm actually wondering how much they're trying to take out of your paycheck?
  11. Yeah I'd say BMPCC is your best bet. The 5D mark 2 is still like a grand on eBay I think.
  12. Just moved to this state, about an hour away from NYC. Does anyone in the area like meeting up for fun short collaborations?
  13. Now that a live up north I can handcuff the coke polar bears for hard crush videos

  14. I don't think I've ever worked with an actor "watching their figure" so to speak during an eating scene. How concerned are the actors with their calorie intake? Of course that will have on impact on what technique you use to simulate a meal for the screen. This isn't an eating contest scene, right?
  15. If you wish to work online, build a following surrounding the projects you produce on your own. Turn heads by yourself and others will want a piece in exchange for cash money dollar bills (through Paypal).
  16. Then why is Blackmagic the only thing listed here? I heard a couple people here saying ShotOnWhat was a more reliable source than something like an IMDB for tech specs.
  17. Was scanning shotonwhat and came across Blackmagic's filmography https://shotonwhat.com/maggie-2015 I find it very interesting that a film with this big of a release (although it unfortunately failed to make its budget back at the box office) was using something as inexpensive as a Blackmagic camera. Do you guys think it was the BM4K or BMCC? Was the URSA even out at the time of its shooting?
  18. Are there certain sites to avoid? For example I found this one http://www.checkoutstore.com/Standard-VHS-60-Min-Tape-p/vhs-t60.htm?gclid=CL7nq5Ds_8wCFQmQaQodFxgKhA but the pricing is a tad "too good to be true" if you get what I mean.. Perhaps I could be wrong.
  19. For an upcoming project, I'm going to put out VHS copies of a 50 minute feature as a fun little bonus for crowdfunding backers. I already have a system to produce the tapes, but I just needed advice on the difference between "standard grade" and "high grade" tapes. Here are links to what I'm talking about: Standard=http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/214829-REG/Maxell_214016_T_120_VHS_Video_Cassette.html High=http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/220312-REG/Maxell_224510_HG_T160_VHS_Video_Cassette.html Is there any difference in playback quality or just a limited number of rewrites? And what are some places you've trusted in the past for wholesaling of blank media of this nature? Thanks for your tips on this weird subject.
  20. I can confirm that the sound is VERY solid on Vegas. Also, very rare that people actually pay for it lol.
  21. Reading the opinions of experienced people helps the frame of mind. Ignoring price, how would you rank these bodies, from best to worst, if applied to a cinematic short primarily shot indoors? Applying things like ease of work and image quality. Please give a "why" only if you have the time. Arri Alexa Canon c500 Blackmagic 2.5k Blackmagic URSA Mini 4.6k Panasonic GH4 RED One MX RED Epic Dragon Sony A7S Sony PMW-F5 Sony PMW-F55 Thanks for reading.
  22. Had a 3 piece set of Rokinon cine lenses for EF in 35-50-85. Did anyone else have a set of Rokinons in either Nikon, MFT, or Sony that was looking to trade? The set is still in the box with blank registration papers.
  23. Currently I'm running a GTX 660 ti. Obviously, a RED rocket card would make playback of footage a much smoother process. My main concern about the card is; is it capable in other aspects (gaming/other codecs) or JUST the playback of RED footage? I'm split between getting a Rocket and the new GTX 1080. Which direction should I head if I own a RED camera?
