  1. The real problem with the Cintel is the focus. We bought one and kept it two months only, because all the footage scanned with it seemed out of focus compared to other standard machines. This is the real problem, and the focus system on the Cintel 2 looks as cheap as the previous model.
  2. Absolutely not. Because Academy 4 perf does not include the sound track for image area. Super 35 by definition includes the soundtrack area for image. You can have super 35 4 perf or super 35 3 perf by the way.
  3. I just shot a feature film on a Greek island, with an Arricam LT and Zeiss T.2.1 lenses. I did the focus myself on 90% of the shots (shoulder and still shots) and it really looked perfect at the end. I shot between F.stop .2.8 and 4 all the film. I did not use monitoring, only the viewfinder. We did several rehearsals each time, because we shot 35mm that gave me the time to get friendly while framing to do the focus. I just saw a screening of the film last week, and felt that the focus looked really organic because I was framing myself the movie. I think with an alexa camera it is the same. I did not use any follow focus, only my hand on the focus ring of the lens all the time. Cheers.
  4. I had the same problem. The size of your 2 perf window is not correct. The conversion of your camera was probably done in England, lots of cameras converted in England had that little problem. I had to do a new gate for the camera at Aranda in Australia. The image once cropping the double exposed area is more or less a 2.50 ratio. Here was my problem, the same :

  7. Hey Tyler. We charge 10€ per minute of footage scanned whatever the support is. So for a can of S16 we charge 100€ because 10 minutes is the length of a roll. 50€ for 35mm because 5 minutes is the length of a roll. Hope it seems clear.
