  1. Looking to buy a Cinematography Electronics Crystal sync motor base for my Arriflex 2C. Please get in touch if you have or know of one for sale. Many thanks! (Attached image from the Cinematography Electronics website. Unfortunately they do not make them any longer).
  2. Just curious if anyone has received their order yet? I can't even get a reply to emails. It would have been nice to try some of this new stock but I will definitely stick with Kodak.
  3. I joined the Darkroom just before the pandemic and then never went back. Is there a Steenbeck now?
  4. I had the same email. Sounds like they only produce 35mm stock if there is a big order. That may explain the ridiculous price tag for 35mm film. Terrible business model.
  5. I just received an automated reply saying that they will get in touch in due course. It also says *Please note that due to staff vacations in September, response times might be longer than usual." They apparently haven't updated their automated message. Can't find a phone number either.
  6. It's odd that the 16mm price has stayed the same but the 35mm pricing tripled. Something's not right. I may try and call to see what's going on.
  7. Spot on! Kentish Town Road corner of Prince of Wales Rd.
  8. Wie du oben erwähnt hast, ist das Buch bei dir schon angekommen, deshalb meine Frage. Your German is very impressive, Mark!
  9. Hallo JĂĽrgen, Meine Kopie wurde am 30.11 geschickt, ist aber nie angekommen. Die email ist "noreply", wie kann ich in Kontakt kommen?
  10. It shows me the price in Pound Sterling. Let’s hope that there’s a glitch on the website.
  11. Hang on, yesterday a 400ft roll of 35mm was ÂŁ165. Today it has gone up to ÂŁ334. That's insane!
  12. The prices seem to have doubled overnight.
  13. Thank you for sharing, Ludwig! I'll definitely order a few rolls. I'll be in Germany next week. Is your new scanner up and running yet?
  14. How long is a piece of string? Budgets vary greatly, depending on what is required. It is impossible to set a generic minute price, you need to budget each job individually. Work with an experience producer who can help you put a budget together based on the script and current fees for crew and locations etc.
  15. I agree with Tyler and Simon. A big part of working on film is the journey. Shooting on film is a different discipline, more tactile, more careful, possibly more thoughtful. I shoot my own small projects on film and to me the look is completely different compared to digital. Most people probably don't see the difference but if you work with film often, you will. So why does it matter if most people don't see it? All I can say is that it matters to me. Stills from proxy edit of a short film I'm currently working on, shot on 35mm, featuring yours truly ?
  16. An SB will allow you to use bayonet mount lenses as well as standard mount.
  17. Problem is that if inexperienced people don’t read your disclaimer, they might be put off by the cost and decide against using film. Just a thought.
  18. Forgive me but this is an odd thing to say. 35mm film looks intrinsically filmic. "Special handling" would be the case if it didn't. The grain seems to have been removed from the footage, making it look distinctly less filmic.
  19. I think this is good news and one should wait until it is out there before judging. You can only hope that it is a great looking, reliable stock and that there will be an affordable alternative on the market soon. You never know.
  20. I saw this posted on Instagram and a new film stock is mentioned. Does anyone have more information about said new stock?
  21. Silbersalz in Germany have been doing this for a number of years now. They recently built a motion picture film scanner which scans your 35mm Vision 3 stills at 16k and the results are spectacular. https://silbersalz35.com/
