  1. AI and AIS are really mechanical auto-exposure linkages. They're ignored by the adapter, so any F-mount will fit. The exposure will, of course, revert to manual.
  2. Hitchcock knew how to do this, but I think you'd get sued if you tried throwing live crows at her nowadays.
  3. I wonder if you couldn't drop 50' into a bin like the ones you'd use with a pic-sync- a big box lined with a sheet might do it.
  4. The 85 filter is more of a brown colour. If this OC12 is pure orange then it's probably for B/W use. However, you have a set, so they could be 85s with combined ND. I have a 6" set with 85, 85ND3 and 85 ND6 (1 and 2 stops, as you probably know already). How you find out for sure without an expensive film test or a densitometer or colour temperature meter I don't know. Perhaps Olex will chip in.
  5. On balance, I agree. I was being a bit technocratic. For the smallish amount of money involved, go for it. But don't double-filter the rest!
  6. All Super 8 cameras, more or less, have the internal 85A filter and K40 does require it. A daylight-balanced cartridge would push it out of the way automatically- that's what the notch below the gate is for, it leaves that push button where it is so the filter stays in. You don't add another. If you have, the film will be very warm in tone assuming the TTL meter gets the exposure right through the 85A. It's a significant overcorrection and I don't know if it is correctable in telecine. Assuming the footage is repeatable, I'd be tempted to reshoot, ditch the faulty stuff and save the cost of processing.
  7. Any one which is kind to the film and has an accessible gate for marking. Motorised if you can get it but in any case a nice easy transport so there's no tendency to skinch the roll when winding. A halogen bulb will be nice and bright.
  8. Does the button move up and down? I wonder if it's a buckle trip,to stop the camera if the loop is lost.
  9. This looks like solarisation, so I'd go for incomplete bleach or something like that.
  10. He didn't. I think he uses the term 'footprint' to mean something like 'market share'. There's a bit of a language barrier. But he makes no reference, or even allusion, to environmental impact that I can see.

In fact, said question wasn't a question at all, but a speech from someone claiming to be a former British diplomat complaining that the leaks would make his profession difficult. Assange told him that if he could prune his speech into a question, he, Assange, would answer it. No more was heard from that person. http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/blog/2010/dec/03/julian-assange-wikileaks
  12. I think the OP means 120 metres (400ft), not minutes. 4-perf runs at 90ft/min. Running times increase by one third, footage required for said running time reduces by one quarter. So 3-perf runs at 67.5 ft/min; a 120m (400ft) roll runs 4 minutes 26 2/3 seconds in 4-perf, 5 minutes 55 1/2 seconds in 3-perf. Simples.
  13. Mint condition Kowa 8Z (equivalent to 16H)2x anamorphic with rotating mount, essential for keeping the optical axis vertical. Rear filter thread 55mm. Sensible offers, carriage at cost.
  14. My way might still work if you ditch the nyloc nut and use a plain one. Grip the thread gently with pliers while you tighten the nut. Then when there is some thread protruding below the nut, hang on to that. Perhaps you can reduce the friction with some oil. A star washer on top of the nut might help it bite.
  15. I'm not familiar with C-stands so this may not work, but if you use an adjustable spanner, you can hold the bolt still with pliers or a grip whilst turning the nut. Then, as soon as the bolt head is a bit tight against the tube you can tighten as required.
  16. The Optex has a 1.33 squeeze against the full 2x of the Kowa, so it depends what you're after. The rear element is a similar size so vignetting should be about the same. If you change your mind I do have a Kowa 8Z with the essential rotating adapter and am open to sensible offers.
  17. Just another quick plug- moderator please remove if this is too much like an ad. I still have my 8Z with the rotating adapter mentioned by Christian. PM serious offers. Lately the lens alone has been fetching between £400 and £600.
  18. It will vignette at short focal lengths. Not many SLR lenses have a filter thread under 52mm. so you see the problem. I've tried the 8Z, which has a thread of around 51mm (series VII, I believe), so it works a bit better, but this always was the problem with the smaller anamorphics.
  19. A contractual term such as that would be unenforceable here, I think, as unfair and a restraint of trade.
  20. You'r OK for spares, then. They do have the loook of the tractor to them.
  21. I think this sort of thing could go in a PM, don't you? It gives a very bad impression to an occasional visitor like me.
  22. In this country, courts impose fines, not trade unions. Can someone explain?
  23. I think the suggestion is that the door is a later replacement.
