Hi all! Shooting a student short December 9th-11th and the actor goes from laying down on a bed (on his side), and jolts awake completely upright. We want to have the camera follow his orientation, and go from vertical (on the cameras side) to a typical position horizontally. I'm wondering if there's a way without something like a Lambda head or maybe a full Dutch head. Suggestions? -

Selling my old Gear as i have a raven now. Looking to get $1250 for this setup. All items have cosmetic wear. Sigma 18-35mm is Nikon mount, Speedbooster is the pocket cinema camera version and both have no issue. I am an NYC based DP selling a used Alexa XT plus bought in May 2013 and used primarily by myself on Commercials and Features. Arri Rental in NJ has stored and maintained the camera since it's purchase. I have images of each tiny item for sale that I took upon original reciept of the camera in May 2013. Aside from all the standard accessories the camera comes with all the current licenses and both Codex XR and SxS drives. Hi you all :) I'm trying to figure out the exact timing of the mirror vs. the registration pins in camera using Mitchell type of movement and 170° shutter angle. My camera is a Russian made Soyuz US3N so it is not a exact copy but close enough to some mitchells. Generally, when are the reg pins supposed to engage in Mitchell movement and when they should retract compared to the mirror edge? I have to be able to time this myself every now and then because of lubricating etc. so can't ship it to a camera tech. The movement should be in factory specs so no need to adjust it, so... Are the pins supposed to engage just a tiny bit before the shutter opens so that the pins retract a moment before the shutter closes for film transport and the claws start to transport film a tiny bit before the shutter is fully closed, or... ...are they supposed to engage at the exact moment the shutter opens so that the shutter can fully close before film transport begins but the tiny moment the shutter opens may have some instability when the pins are centering the film, or... ...is the timing in the video about right? to me it looks like it is just a tiny bit off and the pins should engage just a tiny bit quicker after the shutter has passed to ensure the stability of the start of the exposure. but am I then risking instability at the end of the exposure? This is pretty difficult trial and error to time because of the wormgear like gears used in the camera but I can live with a little off timing :rolleyes: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BITn7xuDses I also asked this at Motion Picture Technology group on Facebook, let's see what they think... :lol:

Hi, is anyone willing to share their knowledge on using the Arricam system of cameras? I’ll be shooting with the Arricam LT and I don’t have any experience with it (or film cameras, in general). Regarding battery solutions, the Anton Bauer Cine VCLX batteries seem to be the closest thing to the de facto standard battery for this 24V camera. And while I’m open to using a block battery, I’m curious if there are any other preferred battery solutions, especially concerning hand-held use. While I’ve heard of battery belts, I’ve never used one myself and I don’t know how comfortable I am strapping large batteries around my waist. Maybe it is a good solution though, considering the alternatives. How much wattage does the camera consume while filming at different speeds? It’s been difficult to find this information. The manual states the Power Bridgeplate is the standard plate used with this system. Will other ARRI plates, such as the BP-8 bridge plate, fit as well? The standard video assist system (IVS) operates on the aged NTSC/PAL system (and I have little hope of getting my hands on the HD-IVS). It seems the best signal output is S-Video. This isn’t an ideal connection for production use, but can anyone recommend a monitor that has an S-Video input? Or, should I just stick with the BNC Composite signal? Or, is it worth it to use a convertor box to covert the signal to SDI? Any modern-day, practical advice regarding these cameras would be very helpful. Thanks!

Hi, I am a DoP on an upcoming shoot for a pair of commercials but I'm having a little trouble deciding the camera. I'm more on the lighting side than camera so I'm not to sure about which cameras are better than others. I was looking at a few but other than staring at the specs i didn't really get much information. I was looking at the Alexa, Alexa Mini, Red Weapon, Red Scarlet, Sony F3 (I've had experience with very minimal). the commercials aren't highly complicated but one of them deals with aquatic themes and the other superhero FX (such as laser beams and freezing) do any of theses cameras have a better read out in colours, which has the best mobility, do any have any serious problems, and your personal choice or opinion? once again I'm not really up on camera side of things so any information will help! Thanks

Eclair Cameflex CM3 35mm 2-perf techniscope camera for sale. I'm asking 2400USD for it. This camera is one rare 2-perf techniscope modified CM3 with PL mount. For those not aware of 2-perf, it basically is a modification which allows you to shoot Cinemascope directly on the neg reducing the stock cost to about 50%. I bought the camera from Film-camera-kit UK in 2011, and have never used it. I bought it from them in good working condition and maintained. I have only unpacked the camera and since then it has been stored, since I did not have time for my original intention of shooting shorts with it. Now I figure it's better to sell this beauty to someone who will have more time for it. I'm curious if film schools give away old cameras. I'm interested in using a 16mm camera, but the cameras are expensive and even the cheapest (good) ones listed on eBay are usually 2-3 times the price of a Super 8 camera. I can certainly afford it, but the price might be a bit too much to start off. This is why I am interested if film schools are willing to give away (or sell for a lower price) their old cameras. Especially since most schools are focusing on digital and only limit film cameras to a few courses, perhaps it's possible. Similarly, are there any other places, like news stations, that will give away their cameras?
