  1. Hi everybody, here is Luca from Milano, Italy. How are you? I'm a camera technician and I've bought an Arriflex 16BL on Ebay (camera and 1 mag from UK, 2 mag and Angenieux 10x12 with blimp from DE) that I want to completely refurbishing, both lens and camera. The camera was ok, I've tested with a battery and everything was working good, and not too noisy! The lens unfortunately has lots of fungus inside, so I'm gong to completely restore it. I'm writing here because maybe (MAYBE..) it could be interesting for someone, or if someone need explications about the camera, or even if someone has tips and suggestion for my work, I'll be pleased! My aim is to make the camera in perfect conditions, both esthetically and working one (it works, but it needs a good cleaning). I would like to add a crystal sync unit, that it will probably will Arduino based - Swiss Made (since I'm Swiss eheh). For the zoom, that has a good mechanic but bad optical part, I'll extract all the lenses, clean them and recompose everything. So, first of all I'm un-assambling all the mags, the blimp and the camera in order to divide all the elements: the ones that needs to be re-anodyze will be sent to the lab, and the mags and the camera will be repainted with the original wrinkle effect. The problem is the serigraphies, that seems to be painted OVER the paint. I don't want to loose them, so I'm thinking for a solution but if someone has a suggestion.. please say it! :D
  2. I'm selling a few arriflex 16st cameras and lenses. Both cameras are working well, one looking a little worn but again, it does work well. 12-120 Angenieux zoom, 17.5-70 Angenieux zoom type L4, 10mm Cinegon, 16mm cine-xenon, 25mm, cine-xenon. no cables or batteries are included. I'm located in France and so think about shipping costs and exchange rates when considering anything here. Prices are in Euros and paypal is accepted. I'm open to any sort of configuration you would like...body only, body and zoom, primes only (although I'd rather sell all three primes as a set). One camera has a variable speed motor and the other has a fixed speed 24 fps. All lenses are standard arri mount. Photos on demand. 16st body- 400€ second 16st body 600€ 12-120 zoom 300€ 17.5-70 l4 zoom 550€ primes (3) 350€
  3. $2,500 O.B.O. Great 4x5.65 lightweight studio (swing-away) matte box for sale. In good condition. I know a few top-level ACs who prefer the MB-19 over the MB-18 or MB-20. This can mount on 15mm LWS rods, or with the included adapter, on 19mm studio rods. If you want to use with 15mm studio rods, you'd just need to pick up that adapter: K2.66040.0. Includes two 4x5.65 filter trays and it can hold a 138mm filter in the rear. Front horizontal tray holds either a 4x4 or 4x5.65 filter and rear vertical 4x5.65 filter tray is rotatable, great for positioning a grad filter just right on the horizon. Eyebrow and side brows included. Rubber bellows for 110mm included. Also included is plastic adapter to reduce 114mm to 80mm, but you'd need to buy Arri K2.52204.0 in order to use that. But then you'd also have a 114mm option. Case is a bit worn but foam is generally fine. Included hard shipping case has a small impact point near a corner (pictured in linked flickr album). Here are ten high-res pictures: https://flic.kr/s/aHskvKPSRB An excellent pdf technical resource for this matte box can be downloaded here: http://www.arri.com/camera/pro_camera_accessories/products/matte_boxes/studio_matte_boxes/studio_matte_box_mb_19/downloads/ Just click on: 29 May 2017 8.6.0 Matte Box MB-19 4x5.65 Download (pdf, 352 KB) I'm located in Brooklyn, NY. Thanks for looking.

Also what accessories do I need for it in order to shoot short films and longer features. Also does anyone know where to convert to pl mount.

  7. We continue to restore the old movie cameras of the Second World War and shoot videos reminiscent of newsreels of the 1940s on them. We use the American Bell & Howell Eyemo cameras and the German hand crank camera Askania 1930s. We shoot 35 mm black-and-white Russian film Tasma and German AFFA aerial photograph. Soon we will repair the Arriflex 35 camera of the Third Reich and remove its historical reconstruction WWII. Watch our "military" video review
  8. Hi everyone I’m selling a great working arriflex 16s with accessories. The camera comes with Paris angineux 12-120mm zoom lens, battery charge belt, 2 mag, torque motor, lens filters, matte box, shoulder strap, two motors, and lens cap. Camera was serviced, lubed and cleaned a month ago. I’m selling camera for $1550 or best offer.
  9. https://www.ebay.com/itm/293635925639 Purchased last year and never tested it because the cost of testing and potentially fixing at the time would have been too high. I've since purchased a Super 16mm camera. The seller who sold this to me sold it to me as a "IIC", however upon inspection, this looks to be a standard model IIB as the ground glass is not removable and the shutter is not variable. Standard IIC's aren't variable shutter, however all IICs have a removable ground glass, this one does not so it is a IIB. The rotary shutter on this particular model is a "butterfly" shutter as is with every model after the IIA. The mirror is clean including the ground glass, internals look clean as well including the 4-perf gate. The ground glass baffles are still within the glass and unbent. Power cord is not in the best condition and as shown and the 3 pin XLR will often slide out of it's metal covering. The hand grip motor is untested. Upon rotating the shutter by hand, it seems to rotate smoothly and the lens turret rotates normally as well. This model has three Arri Standard mounts, unlike some models which have two standard mounts and a single bayonet mount. The viewfinder compartment door mechanism locks and unlocks as normal, and the mechanism that closes the eyepiece works as intended. The rubber eyecup is unusable as it has dry rotted. The 400ft magazine is again untested, but seems to be in good mechanical condition. The locking mechanism on the magazine locks and unlocks normally. The feed spindles and take-up spindles spin smoothly including the footage counter. The Matte box has signs of heavy use and needs cleaning. Overall the camera body and magazine appears to be in heavily used physical condition. Serial number of this camera is Nr.4221. Price is $999.97 or best offer + $120 shipping. Shipping will include signature confirmation and insurance via USPS Priority mail and will ship one business day after the payment is made. EDIT: Before I even get the question I am going to clear this up, because I've gotten it before. I CANNOT GUARANTEE THAT THIS IS AN ACTUAL IIB AND NOT AN UPGRADED IIA. There were two models of the IIB in 1960. There was the Arriflex 35 IIB which had a 180 degree fixed shutter, and there was the Arriflex II BV which had a 0-165 degree variable shutter. It's very tricky because the serial number starts with Nr. on IIA models and No. on IIC models, but with IIB models, some used No. and some used Nr. It doesn't help that the IIB compartment doors could fit on IIAs and actually many IIAs were upgraded to IIBs by simply using the newer style magazine, compartment door, and handgrip motor. The II series started around 2000 and ended all the way well into the 15000s with the IIC meaning this could be a fairly early model IIB or a late model IIA. Either way it has the new compartment door, magazine, and handgrip motor making it either a IIA upgraded to a IIB or an actual IIB. I will say though, The internals look identical to the IIC at a glance, which the IIB was. The IIA internals were very different in appearance. It's very hard to find information about the IIA or IIB because the IIC dominated the MOS camera industry. I come to the conclusion that it is a IIB, whether upgraded or not, because in almost every instance it appears that way and I don't have an Arri technician to do a serial number lookup.
  10. Is it possible to power an ARRI SR I/II with 14.8v gold mount batteries? I understand the voltage would need to be converted to a regulated 12v, but even then is it posing a risk? I happened upon this plate: https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/839205-REG/Movecam_MOV_306_0208_BATTERY_BRACKET_FOR_GOLD.html I would have to use a 3-pin male LEMO to 4-pin XLR cable to take advantage of the regulated 12v output. Is that possible, or would it pose problems? Any insight would be dearly appreciated, as I'm quite uneducated when it comes to power supplies. Thank you!
  11. $400 OBO. This mount adapter lets you mount an older Arri Standard mount or Arri Bayonet mount lens on a PL mount camera. This is the much more complex type with two spring-loaded push buttons for release, and is compatible with lenses like old Cooke Speed Panchros in Arri Standard mount. Those lenses need the holding tab that this adapter has to let you focus. Very easy to pop lenses in and out by just pressing two the side buttons. Les Bosher was known for making these, although I'm not sure who made this one. I bought this one from Visual Products about 9 years ago. Duclos sells something similar new for $700: https://www.ducloslenses.com/products/arri-standard-pl-adapter Note, this works fine on most film cameras. I used it on my Arri 3C before I sold that last year. It may not be compatible with all PL mount digital cameras like the Alexa - the protruding back can collide with interior baffles. Located in Brooklyn, NY. Thanks for looking.
  12. Hi there, I believe that this is probably something that has been discussed before. But I hope there are some new things that can be brought up with this question. I have an upcoming project in the fall, and the director and I have decided that we want to have the anamorphic look for a short we will be making. Now the flares are not the most important thing, but rather the vast image that we are going for. The problem is how to achieve it. First idea would be to use my own S16 Eclair ACL, with an PL adapter, and we were considering renting pure 1.33x anamorphics. But as far as I know, the only ones to rent at the Hawk's, and they would cost us pretty much the complete production budget to get a set. Second idea we had is to use a R16 Arriflex SR and put Kowa 2x on it. The real issue here would just be the wider shots, since we basically loose all the width in the image. Third idea is to invest in a Panasonic AG-LA7200 adapter, with a 0.25 diopter, and use B4 lenses on the ACL to get the image we are going for. I also have a person that can make a M4/3 adapter for the ACL, so any M4/3 solution would work as well, but honestly I am open to any ideas you might have. And yes, both me and director are 100% set on shooting on film stock. C
  13. Hi I just recently purchased an arriflex 16st, it works amazing. it has a mag with zoom lens. I’m new to using this camera. Does anyone know how to use shutter and aperture. Also is their any places to find accessories.
  14. I recently bought an Arri 16S and it arrived earlier today. The camera seems to be fine (as far as I can tell) except for the on/off switch. The on switch presses down and clicks into place, however when I press the 'off' switch, the on switch doesn't spring back up. It works only if I hold down the 'off' switch and manually pull the on switch back into place. (Please let me know if I'm not being clear enough) Unfortunately I don't have a motor for the camera yet, so I can't test how it works with power. So does anyone know what the problem is? Does it need some oil for the 'on' switch/pin?

  17. I have for sale four Arri groundglasses. These are standard glasses, so from memory will fit a IIC or a 35III - but others might be able to put me straight on that. They're also great for many viewfinders, including the Kish UDF. 1. 'TV' (4:3) with mounting bracket. In excellent condition. 2. Another 4:3, no mounting bracket, some pencil marks where it has been marked up in a mystery ratio. Tiny mark bottom right, very clean otherwise. 3. 1:1.85, marked up to 16:9 (?) A chip on one side from bad handling, but it doesn't encroach into the picture area. Good for a viewfinder, or general use. No scratches/marks otherwise. 4. Probably a 4:3 but has been taped to 16:9 at some point. Apart from the tape residue (easily removed) it's in excellent condition too. Each one has a case - happy to sell separately or as a set, pickup or post. The going rate seems to be $150 (AUD) each, and $100 for the one with the mark. They're eyewateringly expensive new. But let's talk - I'm happy to negotiate for a package deal, or if these prices seem out of whack. Postage will be from Melbourne, Australia. Cheers, Jonathan. ( ** I only seem to be able to upload images of 2 of them - message me for more images **)
  18. Two ground glasses for sale. For use with an Arri 2C, 3C, 35-3 film cameras or Kish UDF or other Dir/Find that uses this type of ground glass. $200 for both OR: $150 for the one with the metal handle (in slightly nicer condition) with Academy 1.85 and what looks like Academy 4x3 (common sides). In blue ARRI jewel case. $100 for the one without handle (a couple of tiny blemishes, visible in photos), marked with Academy 1.85 and a "TV" that is not common sides or top/bottom. The 1.85 marking is the dominant marking on this one. Both have tiny chips outside of the picture area. Both have center cross-hair. Located in Brooklyn, NY. Thanks for looking.
