Jon O'Brien
What could you get an LT for, going back, say, 5 years or so, when they were at their lowest price?

I was lucky to buy my LT 3perf package two years ago for £7k in great condition. Added two 1k mags and a couple of steadicam mags for a further £2k. 9 months ago I did sell one of the most complete and pristine Arriflex 416 Plus packages for £11.5k. Today that would probably fetch more than double that. But hey, hindsight is 20/20 vision. Got a 3perf 235 and 435Xtreme instead. I'll hang on to my cameras to shoot a feature film, however long it will take to pull that off. Let's just hope the film trend keeps going for a little while longer... And here's a little bit of camera porn.
Jon O'Brien
Very nice machine indeed! I gather they're not as quiet as the ST? But made up for very much in the greater lightness and ease of handling. I think if I got to the feature stage I would rent - but still, it is nice to own. Cameraquip here in Australia has STs for rent.

Chris Burke
What happened to all the cameras? Is it that everyone is hanging on to what they have like me? It seems as if they all disappeared. How many were there to begin with? Were cameras actually destroyed because they were thought to be worthless? I have an Arri 2c in BNCR mount which I want to change to PL. I can't afford to do so now, but will wait till I can.

Jon O'Brien
I wonder if prices will eventually go up across the board - including the old MOS models eg. Arri II. Is it a case of get back in while you can?

Obsolete cameras will probably stay where they are. Without a strong video tap theres a limit to how useful they are.
Jon O'Brien
When you say strong video tap, would an Arri 35-III with video tap viewfinder be adaptable to a modern production crew provided the video camera was state of the art (it's a noisy MOS camera, I know, so no good for sync sound)? Premium Member Tyler Purcell Posted March 24, 2019 Premium Member Share Posted March 24, 2019 I agree with Isaac, the only model's which are selling currently for decent money are the most modern cameras. I sold a beautiful, rebuilt 4 perf 535A with anamorphic viewfinder, 5 magazines and dozens of accessories for $3500 bux last year around this time. I don't think the price on a package like that will go up anytime soon, it's pretty much flatlined. Even Arricam's have pretty much flatlined. The camera's that hold the most value these days are the Super 16's, SR3's, XTR Prod's, 416's. Super 16 has taken off as a shooting format and 35mm has kinda slowed down honestly. I only got 2 rentals last year for 35mm cameras and we only scanned 4 projects. My 16mm package has been booked nearly every weekend for 8 straight months and we had over two dozen other scan-only projects during the same time. Heck, even I have started shooting it again!
