  1. It is a non-existent problem. Factory cartridges are glued and the parts have rims which interlock and form a lighttrap. Unless the glue went out during production all will be well.
  2. Logmar should have put a dot-exposer in the camera near the gate. Like the MEKEL VIC had. This scientific lab camera even had one while it had pin-registration too. With modern LED and fibre technique it would have been as simple as apple-pie, Good luck while scanning :)
  3. On some cameras (and not the cheapest) the claw moves along the path of an arc. Thus it advances and positions using the perforation. The claw has plenty sideway play for that. The sideways position is thus controlled by the bumps on the gate-assembly.
  4. @ Lasse Thank you for your time. The main point I suggested is that hardly anybody shoots new footage for projection. Certainly not with a Logmar as it is a professional tool. I do but I use old stock and one of my present cameras :) Choosing based on specs a portability. Let's hope for Ferrania to deliver soon. :(
  5. Shutterless means exposure is permanent. Even while the film is transported. When it is running is remains in front of the gate or is yanked past it. Which causes still images with streaks from the highlights. With 18 fps the total exposure per frame is almost 1/18. Use a meter to find the aperture :)
  6. The video looks nice. What is the problem to mind the background? Even with test runs. The moving traffic is good for the test but the black seam and with sign in the back spoil the image. @Lasse. All nice and good but who uses projectors these days? There is barely projectable film left. Only Fomapan R100 and Tri-X. And we can only hope Ferrania comes through soon. \ Studios (the typical Logmar prospect) shoot color neg on every occasion.
  7. And 'test' exposes one frame? Seems more like it activates the lightmetersystem. As is often the case with cameras with one button for meter and expose.
  8. @looper. Then didn't the eBay seller get his beta-camera at half price? He will thus be making a profit of $2500 should he manage to sell. And can he sell it while the program is still on? It seems past ethics to me and must be past contract rules too.
  9. It seems you do not understand English very well. Or at all. If Matt were near here he could use next door's car and hump the other next door's wife. But he can't use mine. And neither my cameras. :)
  10. It is about a crystal synced Pro8mm 4008 with new lenses and some grip accessoires. As mentioned. Not a regular 4008
  11. It was merely a response to your nonsens non-info. Had you read the full thread(s) on the project of Matt you would have noticed that he already has his list complete. The list is a recommendation to others who may seek the suitable machines without having the wish or means to divert to a Euro 5000 Logmar without lenses or anything.
  12. The best studio/lab Super-8 machines would be: Fujica ZC-1000 (difficult with film) Leicina Special (M bayonet) Beaulieu 6008MD and 7008 9008 Canon 1014xls Nikon R10 with grip removed A DS-8 like the ELMO filmatic might be added for long scenes story telling or such. But film is difficult to get. The unmodified Beaulieu 4008 is just too cumbersome with power and no electric remotecontrol. A Logmar does most of it well but costs without lens ten times as much. Even 60 meter should be good. If there was some film offering. Good luck.
  13. The quoting doesn't work. @hernigel Had you checked the duall catalogue you would have noticed it is a pro8mm refurbished 4008. No battery trouble there. The set has two new lenses. No fear needed for the Schneider glass. What is so wonderful with the 4008 viewfinder??? It is a poststamp in the distance and very difficult to use while wearing glasses. Its only advantage is the ground-glass (which nobody knows how to use). The R10 viewfinder functions almost as a modern Nikon SLR HP viewfinder like on the F3HP, F801,F90 etc
  14. No need to get upset. I clicked the quote button on the christopher post but the quote wasn't imported into my post. Just I did now on your Matt post. The edit screen of the forum seems to need some repairs too. Cut and paste doesn't work and the cursor movement is vague too.
  15. US supply of Logmar goes through Pro8mm. Why would a camera manufacturer lend out cameras and thus shooting their own foot or those of their retailers? The idea is that filmers pay for using their products. Years ago I had a collegea who thought he would get free film from Kodak to photograph his safari trips. And then do some promotion. Of course he didn't get a single frame of film. Kodak used to live off people who photograph while travelling :)
  16. Sombody ought to attempt to take the lens of a dead R10 and fit it in a C-mount holder. Difficult as the rear lenses are fit in the camerahousing and possibly leave not enough space to have C-mount distance. Then see how good it really is in comparison with other old and new C-mount suitable lenses. The Angenieux 6-80 1.2 can be had in Beaulieu Reglomatic holder which can be easily be taken off. The Schneider 6-66 from the same source.
  17. I doubt it will improve over the R10 :) Although the Logmar has some feature which aren't available on other S8 cameras. The R10 has very very good optics. Even admitted by diehard Leicina Special users with their Cinegon or 6-66 Optivaron. The R10 has a stop pin which keeps the film from being transported too early and also the filmgate has two small ramps (also on Nikon R8 and Super-Zoom) which force the film to the rear of the filmchannel and thus in the focusplane of the far superior Nikon lens.
  18. There is plenty choice if Vision stocks and Tri_X from Kodak. 200D or ADOX BW from others. And there is even a new Super-8 camera out from Logmar. Unfortunately only from your no so favourite retailer/supplier. :)
  19. Oh dear, the entrepreneur business analyst without a business himself. More likely there are business of private issues. This stacking up was never the scheme before. He would better sell the films with an Andec processing coupon which would save on labour and gives users a faster turnaround. But indeed higher shipping costs per film (from UK)
  20. Brown artefacts come from improper/failing bleach. Like using the Fomakit bleach for a second film while it is worn out of oxidated.
  21. Nice site this photomemorabilia the choice available then!
  22. The metal plates are over all panelscrews and certainly thicker than foil. Cameras which have been opened before often aren't put together too neatly. Especially not later on when NIKON wasn't repairing them any longer.
  23. Off factory the screw-openings are covered with thin metal plates to keep the leatheratte from sinking into the screwhead cups. Do you penetrate these plates too?
  24. LIkely the beta-testers use all kind of film. Possibly there are some who shoot old film from the mass-produced Super-8 meters in pre-going-bad-Kodak cartridges. ADOX has a very nice, perfed somewhere else BW film in the Klose redesigned cartridge. Or somebody could spool some Wittner stocks like Aviphot in a Kaccema :)
