  1. http://rstvisions.com 818.566.1114 Ask for Marsella they have 18 left. $320.00
  2. I don't think they are vacuum sealed enclosures for those Par 64 style bulbs. There isn't a need for them to be.
  3. You should have a copy of Set Lighting Technician's Handbook by Harry C Box
  4. Just have him drop 4-Camlocks so you have the option for 120v and 240v connections.
  5. is this a panel (multiple circuit breakers) or a disconnect switch box dedicated to the cam locks? If you are just testing the lights then you'll be fine.
  6. You cant use a splitter- doesn't work like the. The splitters split the power "down" 100amp can be split into two 60amp bates but you cant split the 100amp (83amps) needed for the 10k in to two separate feeders. Only using 4 wire off of a 5 wire feed doesn't help either since the source is still 3-phase ( 5-wire) Your 10k Mole is going to need a 100A 120v bates and it alone will eat up almost all your power. Arri M90 will need 240v bates or a snake bite and actually splits the power better but you'll still eat up the same amount of total amps -
  7. For LED or FL bulbs- tungsten will melt those umbrellas.
  8. Asbestos by itself isn't really a danger- the problem is when you cut it, grind it or break up something with asbestos in it and the tiny particles come airborne. Workers in the industries that were around these processes all day long for years are the people that suffered. Your vinyl flooring that contains asbestos is perfectly fine until you go and try to rip it up to install new flooring. You can remove all of the wiring in old fixtures without fear that you'll die from asbestos by simply following simple safety rules of wearing a mask and bagging all of the old wiring. The big deal on that though is..where do you dispose of the asbestos material now ?
  9. BM 2k. Power cord is suspect on that one.
  10. Why don't you start making them and the sell them cheaper- you'd make a killing.
  11. Out in Mojave I saw my friend riding a 6x6 butterfly on a medium roller set up ....across the dry lake bed :)
  12. Cut a piece of Foamcore to 4x4 and tape it to the beadboard for stiffness.
  13. keep a couple #8 Cotton sash in yer kit. they're fine for an 8x8 https://www.homedepot.com/p/T-W-Evans-Cordage-8-1-4-in-x-50-ft-Buffalo-Cotton-Sash-Cord-Hank-46-083/205326995?MERCH=REC-_-PIPHorizontal2_rr-_-205326994-_-205326995-_-N or wherever you can find it.
  14. set up the stands, attach the frame in the horizontal position, bag the stands, attach the ropes then attach the rag. You can secure the ropes to anchor points with slack. Then raise the frame/rag to where you need it.
  15. Out here the T12 comes with a 120v lamp and has a 100amp 120v bates connector on it. This becomes a problem if they are going to be on for more than 3 hours. 12k/120v= 100amps. Longer than 3 hours and you'll toast the bates. the 3 hour rule also dictates that the cable/connector is now only rated at 80%.
  16. Although the spec on the Arri sheet indicates 230v, I believe here in the USA they run a 120v lamp.

  18. Full grid cloth. We can get a ton of light using strobes so it's a hard comparison trying to equate watt/seconds to constant light source wattage-lumens. You should be able to get a nice source with the 2k and UB. the 12x12 rag on a frame in front of an Elnchrom Octa 74" is a pretty standard lighting set up as it allows the Photog a little room to shoot a wide shot or switch lenses and do a tighter portrait without having to relight/move lights. With celebrities and editorial there isn't much time given to the photographers.
  19. The Leo shot is a 12x12 Grid cloth with an Elinchrome 74" Octabank behind it using Profoto strobes.
  20. Samy's camera carries a Dynalite product XP1100 battery/inverter that would work. No longer available for purchase though. google image http://beauphoto.blogspot.com/2014/02/ex-rentals-dynalite-xp1100.html
  21. What is the most powerful ringlite? Need one for a client and we usually use a Strobe Ringlight but need one for Motion Thanks, Ed
  22. Get the Single Kinos Kinoflo will have Visual Effects Lamps: 4ft & 2ft (Choice of Kino Blue, Green Gold, Pink, Red and Black Light
  23. Those Arri 1800's are a nightmare for us- a Still photo rental house- because with the Still/print world moving in to Film territory and that one Assistant that read up on Arri's claim wants to rent them  to plug in to a House in the Hills or at the Beach. Tying to educate them on Arri's Claim about plugging in to a wall receptacle has been tough- If Arri said so it must be true
