I wouldn't sell my Arricam if I were you. Just my 2 cents... unless you need the money then that's a different story. If anything, you could just get a 2 percent movement. At least, you have 2 perf for more budget conscious shoots and 4 perf if you would like to shoot anamorphic etc.

You sdon't my need as much lighting with V3 '19 stock - especially on 35. Even on a s16 feature I shot on 19 last year, we shot a lot of available dark street light scenes in Hollywood and it was fantastic.

Arri for sure. We were shooting a promo for the Voice on 2 Red Epic Dragons at a Universal soundstage - with AC. Still, one of the cameras was out of play for an hour because of overheating issues. Also, it is just easier to work with Arris from a dp and an Ac perspective. It is more of a camera without needing as many third party accessories as you would with REDs. Easier and more accessible menu, better color rendition in my opinion and doesn't really have all the bugs, issues and delicacy of REDs.

You are right. It is not the opening scene. I should have paid attention to the title of the thread better.

I'm selling one of my 1000' magazines for Arri BL 1-4 magazine that's in a perfect working condition for 150 dollars.

Compact primes are rehoused stills glass with inconsistent aperture throughout the series. Superspeeds are true come lenses and aren't softer than compact primes. Sure, wide open, they aren't the sharpest but 2-2.8 they are tack sharp. I would go with the superspeeds.

When you offset the lens mount for academy, since your gate is s35, it would still expose the entire film width. I wouldn't worry about it, it is normal.

Odd Shaking filming telephoto

I would get an O'Connor 2060 head. -
I would go with a truck with a camper shell or a bit older SUV like a Tahoe. If you're going to be using it as you wrk truck, you don't want a new expensive vehicle as it will get ruined probably as you load and unload equipment etc.

I wish you got yourself a life my friend instead of going against the grain for no reason.

Jackie -- Lens and Post Details?
Giray Izcan replied to Luke Hudson's topic in On Screen / Reviews & Observations
I just watched the movie at the dome. I agree with David that it looks nothing like 35. It is not sharp or clean but I like the way it looks for sure as I love s16. I guess you could say that close-ups could pass as 35, but wide shots, definitely not. -
I would just get the original part. You invest that much money into an Alexa but cheap out on evf bracket. It seems a bit silly to me. What you have is the vf extension. You need vf ext leveler to hold the extension at whatever position you would like.

ARRI SR-II Extension Viewfinder Issue
Giray Izcan replied to Bill DiPietra's topic in Camera Operating & Gear
Or you could just buy another vf extension as they cost next to nothing nowadays. -
I would look into sync sound cameras if I were you as you could shoot mos and/or shoot dialogue as well.

Solving the 16mm Ratio Dilemna on a Budget-Thoughts?
Giray Izcan replied to Peter Gilabert's topic in 16mm
I don't see any problem with cropping top and bottom to achieve 2:35 aspect ratio. I shoot on 4 perf s35 and crop top and bottom to 2:35 all the time without any weirdness or problems. -
ARRI SR-II Extension Viewfinder Issue
Giray Izcan replied to Bill DiPietra's topic in Camera Operating & Gear
Bill, I would take it to a professional to get it looked at instead of trying to fix it yourself as you could cause problems and more expense down the road. Maybe you could try a rental house technician who could work on it as a side project. Hope all goes well. -
Substituting 16mm film for digital
Giray Izcan replied to Matt Golding's topic in General Discussion
Tyler makes misleading statements in regards to professional productions; however, I do believe he has good intentions. I wouldn't dismiss some of his good advices by any means. I like his passion for film as an art form for instance.- 73 replies

Substituting 16mm film for digital
Giray Izcan replied to Matt Golding's topic in General Discussion
I've never heard electricians doing any sort of camera department work let alone download footage. What's next? You might as well ask them to pull focus while you're at it too. It is against the union rules. Much like, you wouldn't have a second AC start rigging trusses, putting up lights etc - you would have grips and electricians to do those tasks. 250 for a DIT? I would take that as that's a steal deal. Commercial PAs make 200/day so go figure.- 73 replies

If they can't afford 1500 for a camera then it's safe to say that they can't afford to shoot on film either.
