  1. Was it Tarkovsky who willingly shot in a radioactive area and died from cancer shortly after?
  2. In 50 years I wouldn't be surprised if the job of "editor" in cinema is nearly gone. Every young filmmaker does their own NLE in this era.
  3. Well you gotta consider how many other things they do with your movie for it to go to TV. Censoring certain lines, chopping out scenes for time, changing the aspect ratio and cropping out important shot elements. The credits being cut out is the last of the filmmaker's worries. If I was a smaller guy on the crew then yeah it might upset me but it's just more motivation to be the first name mentioned.
  4. Kids out here are watching every movie on their phone and laptop through multiple degrees of digital compression. You'd be surprised how little people care. I'll be like "ew look at that digital noise" and physically point it out and they'll be like "huh? what? oh I guess but whatever it's just a movie". Getting up to adjust the contrast so I can see the shadows better and everyone else will say "stop toying with it it doesn't matter I can see the faces its fine".
  5. It's fascinating how these thread topics spark the most debate yet everyone outside of cinematography find film vs digital to be the least important element of the craft. Then again I'm sure some people in cinematography find it to be the least important element of the craft as well..
  6. Yeah the grade could use a little more punch and when the interview audio comes in it immediately destroys the professional vibe you opened with. Also getting more angles of coverage for the main interview would really flesh things out, maybe even have the camera handheld on that portion too. This goes in and out between TV quality and youtube vlogger's student film. I don't believe you're clueless to this, I think the director just settled in the wrong areas. Let me know if you need an audio guy, I'm in the area.
  7. I thought they taught this concept in middle school? Writing an outline for any long paper?
  8. Probably good you ditched it when you did. The original 4K mini is going nowhere but down.
  9. The only time the camera fell short was the outdoor tests around 2:55. But for 5% of the price, not bad at all.
  10. Would you be willing to flip? I've wanted those for a bit.
  11. ..I mean if all you watch is Full House then yeah.
  12. If shooting a completely white surface, I'm pretty sure you'll still notice it even with a crop sensor.
  13. What I've noticed with some cheaper Tamron counterparts is disgusting vignetting
  14. It's kind of silly to assume the geniuses at Arri, Sony, or wherever won't eventually release digital cameras which perfectly replicate certain eras of Vision3. Not worried if film is gone for good.
  15. PM or Skype me, I have a library of over 20gb of stuff
  16. If you want to extract just the video portion by itself then I think you can use VLC media player's Convert/Save option.
  17. I mean... it could've been. Could've also been done in grading given the entire shot represents that general color tone.
  18. It sounds like you've been involved in very little, if any, of the animation industry. There aren't 30 different people assembling Tom Cruise's performances. Mickey and Daffy have key frames drawn by someone in America, then filled in for fluidity by someone in France, then colored in by someone in Korea, then sent back to America for sequential editing and final review. When you actually grind into the work of this process, you're far less concerned with philosophical titles.
  19. Thanks for telling, I'll keep it in mind. My favorite so far has been WeTransfer.
