  1. As en empath and a film lover this film to me has been like a cooling breeze in the middle of the dense heat and humidity in the middle of an overcrowded (like it used to be) inland city ...... Lazzaro felice - Happy as Lazzaro...on Netflix Looks fantastic on 16mm and it really does serve the storyline.....if anyone watches it lets talk about it here......
  2. interesting project which I will keep looking at and hope you make it!
  3. Thank you I'm going to watch them all!!!!! I have not seen your recommendations! only from the 1970s forwards
  4. Gracias por comentar Ignacio...como andas por Madrid cos las fases? vaya tela eh.....y si...novea Tele5 y Antena3 etc etc erre que erre con el mismo tema! Yo aunque soy de Gibraltar he estado en confinamiento en la provincia de Cadiz desde Marzo.....en mi casa en Alcaidesa Thanks for a very informative contribution Ignacio.....I'm watching and re-watching all of Sidney Lumet's films as we speak.....I remember SERPICO being big film back in the 70s when I saw it albeit young....I remember my father going on about it....will report back and perhaps start a thread on Sidney Lumet when I watch them all.....
  5. Thanks for posting Karim.....pretty bold from her being pregnant etc and the look of the video is what it is and just goes to show people who know....know....film is special and unique and I only wish the leo Messi of cinematography world Roger Deakins shot film again to keep it alive for nobodies like me to be able to keep buying and shooting it
  6. ......I was 10 when this film came out and I must admit I don't remember it at all as we were gripped with Rocky fever.....so just watched it today for the first time......wow....what a fantastic film.....absolutely great.....nothing special in terms of cinematography as far as beauty goes but certainly special in the way it just serves the marvellous story......a solid 10/10 masterpiece for me......replace the effect of television the film satirises with the effect of social media and the age of narcissism we now live in.... William Holden is magnetic....Faye Dunaway....perfect....Peter Finch.....wow
  7. thanks Willem.....when does it go out on release does anyone know?????
  8. thanks for posting...as a celluloid fan boy Im happy to see anything shot on film hahaha
  9. you have to put him in context back in the late 90s....you cant really judge that work with 2020 eyes....but if, like me, you have over 40 years of watching TV and films at the cinema its all stored in the visual database! hahahahahah
  10. I remember watching all of them back in the day and loving it in our hugely wide cinema screen in Gibraltar's Queens Cinema.....
  11. Guy Ritchie....nobody talks about him these days and gives him the credit he deserves in my opinion......his films were fantastic to look at and highly enjoyable......I think all these youtube wannabe's should look back pay homage to Guy Ritchie, his cinematographer Tim Maurice-Jones and editor Niven Howie....not Casey Niestat (no offence to him) cos he did the high energy editing style combined with fantastic six etc all back in 1998 with Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels and Snatch in 2000 (editor Jon Harris)....ok so he married your Madonna but hey......
  12. ....just like it says on the tin as they say in the UK....new podcast by Roger Deakins.....apologies if this is old news https://teamdeakins.libsyn.com/
  13. really? you mean 'normal' people have even commented to like minded? send link?
  14. hahahah yes Jon I know hahahah.......I mean, if I can shoot 16mm for personal projects and pay for it myself then Netflix can pay for the Kodak stock surely for a 'few episodes more' (cue Sergio Leone titles and Ennio Morricone score) and Manu...of course the Red and all the others can look fantastic.....but how crap it looks in context, to my eyes, after episodes 1 and 2.....
  15. have watched it all and it was excellent! maybe its cos I'm european and love jazz hahahahah total mismatch between 16mm and the RED......the RED is awful in comparison.....looks cheap and off youtube hahaha.......
  16. Just watched the first two episodes and they were superb.....am loving it.....the look is fantastic....and shot with a similar camera to mine.... the Aaton XTR Prod....I have the XTR XC.....then started watching the third episode.....wow what a visual difference......they are on acid if they think the RED matches 16mm film....ridiculous.....really? They could not afford 16mm film? Would only allow Damian Chazelle to shoot it? Em.....just keep the same cinematographer and camera operator, the same focus puller etc etc.....this is ridiculous.....What am I missing.........regardless of the decision...the first two episodes were superb.....as a jazz lover....even better.....so refreshing after having sat through the......overrated....Better Call Saul....
  17. ......the phrase 'can't see the wood for the trees' comes to mind.....pointless, confusing article to me....put the lens on....focus with the eye....mark the lens.....you're done.....wtf...its just so pointless to even consider unless your a lens designer/manufacturer.....
  18. Kodak DEFINATELY raised prices.....we knew it was coming.....typical Kodak.....they're so....questionable in their decisions......Film Photography Project posted December 2019 about it..... As we prepare to usher in 2020, I’d like to take a moment to address a topic of concern to some of you - the Kodak Price Increase. Most of you are aware that Kodak has announced a price increase on all film products as of January 1st 2020, with some items increasing in cost by as much as 30%. In their announcement, Kodak explains that the increased demand for their film products necessitates an expansion of their production end. To quote their press release, " A large ongoing financial investment has been made to increase production capacity but unfortunately the benefits of this investment will not be realized until much later in 2020, with some additional benefits being delivered in 2021."
  19. interesting...await replies....I always em.......focus......with my eyes.....but yes with a tape measure when shooting wide angle from the film plane on my Aaton 16mm camera... Interesting to know where digital cameras and their 'focus peaking' measure from.....the sensor or the entrance pupil.....and whether different manufacturers differ....
