Hi all, Can't remember from where, but I've heard of the ability to shoot on print stock just as one would on regular motion picture stock, with the idea of having a very punchy and contrasty look. Does anyone have experience with this? Looking at the Kodak catalog, it seems print stock primarily comes in 2,000' rolls, which would make the process of downspooling a bit tedious...

Hey there, I work on 16mm and super 8 film and have a pretty sufficient editing setup in my home studio -- rewinds, splicers, etc. However, I really need to get my hands on a film trim bin (big standing bin on wheels with the muslin bag to catch tails, and rack of pins for organizing clips). I've searched google a million times and can't find any for sale, just posts by filmmakers talking about having one in their studio. I know they have to come from somewhere! I emailed Dwight Cody and he doesn't have any at the moment, though I'll keep checking back. I've been looking for about a year. I'd also love to hear if anybody has made one of their own, and how you did it - I'm just tired of pinning my strips to the wall and would love a more long-term solution (plus, I miss my old school's darkroom). Anybody have experience on this or a tutorial, or a resource to purchase/make one? Thanks so much! E

I watched the first episode on BBC last Sunday evening.....loved it......I'm very much into civil rights films/documentaries......came across it quite some time ago as the Cinelab London posted about it as they processed all the film for the series.......it's on Amazon Prime on the 20th November....directed by Steve McQueen and shot by Shabier Kirchner. This is the film v digital debate right there.....do we believe we're back in the 50s, 60s etc when we watch The Crown......do we believe we're back in the 70s when we watch Small Axe..... -
What is the range of prices in USA or EU for a 2:30 min short film? I ask a lab in Greece and they told me ONLY the cost of the chemichals is 6.000$ - 9.000$ !!!

Hi I just purchased an arri 35mm IIC, I’m new to using it I’m use to using 16mm. It has bncr mount. I need help understanding camera as in gates, what lens is good to use, or how to operate. Also what accessories do I need for it in order to shoot short films and longer features. Also does anyone know where to convert to pl mount.

We continue to restore the old movie cameras of the Second World War and shoot videos reminiscent of newsreels of the 1940s on them. We use the American Bell & Howell Eyemo cameras and the German hand crank camera Askania 1930s. We shoot 35 mm black-and-white Russian film Tasma and German AFFA aerial photograph. Hello, all of a sudden today arricam st 4 perf started making this noise - vimeo link attached. Noise comes and goes regardless of magazine being attached to the camera. Noise can appear in a middle of a take and then go away in 30-40 seconds, then come back again. Film transport and shutter seems fine visually and the camera doesn't give any warnings. Nothing was done to the camera yesterday to give us a clue of the cause, except for regular daily cleaning with air. All tests prior to the shoot are totally fine. Negative was examined throughout the day and has no scratches. Noise intensifies significantly when fps changed to 60. When fps slowed down - sound disappears. Tried adjusting pitch but to no result. I have for sale four Arri groundglasses. These are standard glasses, so from memory will fit a IIC or a 35III - but others might be able to put me straight on that. They're also great for many viewfinders, including the Kish UDF. 1. 'TV' (4:3) with mounting bracket. In excellent condition. 2. Another 4:3, no mounting bracket, some pencil marks where it has been marked up in a mystery ratio. Tiny mark bottom right, very clean otherwise. 3. 1:1.85, marked up to 16:9 (?) A chip on one side from bad handling, but it doesn't encroach into the picture area. Good for a viewfinder, or general use. No scratches/marks otherwise. 4. Probably a 4:3 but has been taped to 16:9 at some point. Apart from the tape residue (easily removed) it's in excellent condition too. Each one has a case - happy to sell separately or as a set, pickup or post. The going rate seems to be $150 (AUD) each, and $100 for the one with the mark. They're eyewateringly expensive new. But let's talk - I'm happy to negotiate for a package deal, or if these prices seem out of whack. Postage will be from Melbourne, Australia. Cheers, Jonathan.
