Hi community, I have two questions related to poor-man's macro solutions. I am about to purchase a Krasnogorsk K3 and look for ways to shoot in macro with it. One idea was to just put a diopter - these close-up rings - in front of the lens. I know it's a super cheap solution, but that's how I roll. Does anybody have any experiences in that regard? At a later stage I'd buy a macro lens for it. I know it has a Pentax mount, so am I assuming correctly that I can just use any fitting macro lens with that mount then? Thanks for helping me out! Someone offers me Angénieux 12-120 and Angénieux 15-150 for 100 euro each one, so I want to know if that's a good deal for the Blackmagic Pocket too (I would use them just with the blackmagic) Greetings!

Preparing for a documentary shoot which will shoot in six locations, each with a different crew and DP. We're searching for a universal package that can get each unit matching as close as possible. Cameras are Sony FS7 across the board. For the most part, we'll be renting the Canon 15.5-47 or the 14.5-60 along with the Canon 30-105. However, in one of our locations, the only short zoom available is the Angenieux 15-40. My gut says that the Ang won't mesh well with the CN-E zooms, but it's been a few years since I've shot with the Ang and wanted a second opinion. Does anyone have experience matching the Angenieuxs to the CN-E zooms?

We own a set of Schneider Xenon FF Prime lenses. Our lenses are PL mount but for an upcoming shoot we will need to use the lenses on a Canon DSLR. We purchased the mount conversion kit from Schneider to put an EF mount on but no instructions. It's seems straight forward enough but it would still be nice to hear if anyone has experience doing this. Biggest question is how many shims to use. Any help is appreciated. Thanks, Ray

Hey Guys, Recently I picked up a used Tokina 28-70 f2.8 on eBay. For the most part it seems like a nice lens but this one seems to have some an issue: When I switch to manual focus it seems to hit some bumps and makes a grinding noise when I focus it. I would normally be okay with it if it didn't affect the image but it does. I placed the lens on a sandbagged locked down tripod and attempted a rack focus. When it hits a certain point from focusing the entire image jumps like the tripod shakes like someone hit it. Furthermore the auto focus is really really noisy (not a big deal since I don't really take stills but might be indicative of the issue). I tried several different attempts and verified the tripod was locked down. Has anyone ever experienced this? Is there a fix? Should I just return the lens? Thanks!

I wanted to upload some examples but I can't for some reason. I have screenshots not urls. I can't seem to search the answer to this question considering I wouldn't exactly know how to search it. I don't know what to look for. So my question is about perspective (I think this is the proper term to use). I noticed that 16mm, 35mm, and 85mm lenses not only have different field of views, but they have a different look. 16mm makes the face look skinnier, and the higher focal lengths made the faces wider. This I already knew but my question requires that I bring this up. The Question: If I am using a camera with a super35 sensor with a 85mm FF lens attached, will the 85mm FF lens give me the same prospective of the face considering the crop factor from the sensor? I hope this is not a dumb question. Usually somebody may get a 50mm lens or something close to that to have the same field of view as the 85mm on the crop sensor. Im afraid that doing this will make my picture change thats all.

I'm due to be flying out to shoot a music vid in the next few weeks on the Arri Alexa Mini - I thought I'd pick the community brain to see if anyone has any great suggestions for lens choices to achieve the following kind of look.... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7gtdpnKbT10 We've had to rule out the option of shooting VHS/film/TV cameras etc. So I've got to get as close as I can using the right sort of lens and filters (plus there'll be haze too which'll help) - we'll be hiring in LA, so if anyone suggest a particular vintage lens that's hard to get hold of then it'd be great to know if you know of a local rental house that may stock it? The main things we're looking to achieve are - As close to the look as possible using lens/filters/haze/grade - The ability to zoom mid shot, all adding to that retro effect, so ideally something with a large zoom range and ideally parfocal. At the moment I'm thinking an Angenieux 24-290 purely because of the range - I know she's a beast but I'll be on sticks the whole time. Plus something like a Glimmerglass 1/2 or 1 or possibly even a Hollywood Star filter to really make those light sources pop. I've not used nets before, so I'm a bit hesitant to experiment too much on the job so ideally glass suggestion if possible :-) Are there any watchouts I should be aware of? I've learnt a huge amount from you guys so it'd be really great to get the forums advice and ideas :-) Huge thanks in advance, Matt.

Hi, I'm selling a lovely 50mm Zeiss Superspeed mkII for Super16. I have tested it on a Sony F3 and it does cover that sensor also! This is the hardest to find of the Super Speeds. The 9,5mm-25mm are more common individually and in kits. Condition is great for its age. Some paint loss on the barrel and some traces from mounting on the very edge of the back element. Focus and iris is really smooth. Lens was checked for collimation last year. Here's a test I did with the lens a couple of years ago: Located in Sweden but I will ship worldwide (but Europe preferred). Price is 1400€. Thanks! Kalle
