  1. Hi there, I recently bought an Arriflex 2C and it came with an extra handgrip motor. Model CRA-6A from Cinema Products which can either work at 24 or 25 fps. It didn't come with a battery nor a power cable and I'm trying to build one myself. It states that it's a 16-24 V & 2 Amp motor but i can't identify what kind is this input power port. It looks like a downsized version of a 3 pin XLR but I could be wrong. Any ideas on what could it be? I don't know if it's readable in the picture but each pin is marked with a letter: A, B and C. I have guessed that "A" stands for the hot pin, "B" for the cold and "C" for ground. But again I could be wrong and I don't want to apply power without being 100% sure since I could fry the motor. Any help is highly welcomed! I'll update if I find additional info on this. Fran Moreno
  2. I purchased this Arri 3C in the big Otto Nemenz auction around the middle of last year. I did a registration test with good results but have not had a chance to use the camera. Includes: - Arri 3C Camera body with PL mount port cap, body (magazine) port cap, accessory mounting bracket, Super 2.35 ground glass (could be Super 2.40, not sure) in shipping case. - Cinematography Electronics Crystal Motor Base (could also be used with an Arri 2C) - Arriflex 3C Crystal Handgrip Motor with screws and gear in plastic cup. - 6x 400' Arri 3 mags in 2x 3-hole mag cases - Jurgen's Orientable Video Door for 3C with Sony Color CCD camera. - Wide Angle Eyepiece (no rubber eyecup is included) - Arri grease - Arri Hand Held Door for 3C PICTURED BUT NOT INCLUDED: Extension Eyepiece. NOT INCLUDED: Rubber Eyecup, Power cables for camera motors to battery, power cables for Sony Color CCD, Balance Plate Top, Dovetail, Rods, Batteries, Lenses, etc. If you're not familiar with the 3C, you could think of it as the final refinement of the 2C before the Arri 35-3 came out. It has a more sturdy hinged door, unlike the metal prongs which held on the 2C door to the body. That design was never intended for the weight of a Jurgen's door and I've seen a few 2C bodies that are wearing out where these prongs grip. The 3C came from the factory with a PL mount, and it has a very nice crystal handgrip motor which is often sought after since it works just as well on the 2C. Something else I like about the 3C, they have a variable shutter, something that's hard to find on a 2C. The 3C also has a rosette for mounting accessories, right by the inching knob. The 2C doesn't have that. The 3C movement is the same as the 2C movement and motors, mags and of course ground glasses are interchangeable. The 3C is perhaps best know as the camera Arri made for the film "Das Boot" in the early 1980's. This means this camera isn't nearly as old as most 2Cs floating around out there. I know of four doors made for the 3C, although this package only includes two: Arri Orientable Door (which I've seen can be modified into a video split door) Arri Hand Held Door (included) Arri Straight Door (with optional anamorphic desqueeze module) Jurgen's Video Door (included) I should note, the door type is hinged, but it is not interchangeable with the Arri 3 door. The 3C doors are more rare, as not many of these cameras were made. Also, please see the picture with the note about compatibility with certain lenses due to the PL mount being centered for S35 (as opposed to Academy). Available for only $1,600 O.B.O!!! Available to see in Montebello through Tuesday 12/3. If that's too soon, I can coordinate another time for a relative of mine to show it to you since I'll be heading back out of town. For convenience, preference will be given if there is a buyer in the LA area who will pick up in person and pay cash. 3. Hello, I'm thinking about getting a 35mm motion picture film camera to rent in my area as no one else is, but I don't want to spend that much on it as truth be told I'm not that passionate about the look nowadays as I am with super 16 because it lacks the texture I like in film but I otherwise I like the look of it in terms of lenses vs super 16 so in order to get a feel for it I thought of getting a 2c as for it's price on the market it rents out well and has so many accessories to customize but it's an mos camera, meaning it's loud and that would work against me but I really want it, so I ask, is there any way to make the 2c work with the dedicated blimp that makes it as big as an imax camera? Are there any parts I can get that's not the 2c blimp that I could use to shoot sync sound with this camera like say the georg jenson motor for the 16s allowed that to shoot sync sound or is it not that simple?
  4. Two ground glasses for sale. For use with an Arri 2C, 3C, 35-3 film cameras or Kish UDF or other Dir/Find that uses this type of ground glass. $200 for both OR: $150 for the one with the metal handle (in slightly nicer condition) with Academy 1.85 and what looks like Academy 4x3 (common sides). In blue ARRI jewel case. $100 for the one without handle (a couple of tiny blemishes, visible in photos), marked with Academy 1.85 and a "TV" that is not common sides or top/bottom. The 1.85 marking is the dominant marking on this one. Both have tiny chips outside of the picture area. Both have center cross-hair. Located in Brooklyn, NY. Thanks for looking.
  5. Hello! This is my first post here on the forum and I would like to begin it by thanking everyone who posts on here; this forum has been a huge source of information for me, basically like the film school I couldn't afford, so yeah thanks everyone. I just recently acquired an Arri 2c, one that was advertised by the seller as a high speed model. It has the tachometer that reads up to 80fps, but from doing research on this forum and others, I understand that it is possible to attach that tach to a non high speed model. I've read that the only fool-proof way of determining if the camera is an actual high speed model is by the presence of four extra screws on the film gate that can adjust the pressure of the gate. But having been unable to find another picture of an Arri 2c gate to compare mine too, I'm unsure if the screws on my gate are the high speed ones or just the standard. Here's a pic of the gate on my 2c: Is this the high speed gate? And if so, is the combination of the gate and the 80fps tach enough to pretty much guarantee this is definitely a high speed model and is safe to run at 80fps? Just want to be sure, as I have a high speed motor on the way and would like to be sure of what I'm dealing with. Speaking of the high speed motor, I've read that it needs 32v to run at 80fps. At the risk of sounding silly, how exactly do I acquire 32v of power? I can't seem to find any 32v batteries that can connect to the high speed motor. (The cable for my motor has a 4 pin XLR). Is it a case where I would need to have a battery specially fashioned? Anyone who has any experience running a 2c at high frame rates, your help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!
  6. Hello, I am looking for an Arri mag, 60/200 ft which is for the 35-3/2C, but also fits the 235. I am attaching a pic to show which one i am talking about. thx in advance Kimon
  7. $150 Very convenient item to have if you own an Arri 2C or 3C or 16S or 16M or 16BL or 16SR. The rubber eyecup (in v. good condition) has a spring so when you take your eye away from it, two doors inside the eyepiece close, blocking light and preventing you from accidentally flashing your film while rolling. Diopter adjusts and locks normally. Cosmetics are ok for the age. Glass is pretty clean - a couple of schmutz marks on the inside of the "rear" element as you can see in one of the pictures. Not visible when looking at an image. Located in Brooklyn, NY. Thanks for looking.
  8. $900 Or Best Offer. Very rare item, in very good condition. These were only made circa 1982 for the Arri 3C, but are compatible with the 2C as well. 24 or 25 fps crystal switchable. Or, switch to variable mode (non-crystal) for other speeds. I was told the small 4-pin port is for connecting a speed controller for getting crystal sync at other speeds. Powers from 12V 4-pin XLR connector. Can run forwards or reverse - it has a switch for that. It needs a phenolic gear to connect to the drive gear at the bottom of the camera, but that's included with this motor. The motor has captive screws to attach to your 2C or 3C. No power cable included. This item is currently in Los Angeles with a friend. Thanks, Rich
  9. Filmmakers! I am clearing out some gear I used this spring/early summer on project that has wrapped. Up for grabs is an ARRIFLEX IIC with a BNCR mount and a video tap from Precision Camera that easily screws onto any ARRIFLEX style viewfinder. (works with 16mm and 35mm) I am also offering a spare door, a vintage Arriflex shoulder mount, 600ft of film ( recans ) 3 spare gates ( 1:66 / 1:37 / and 1:85 ) on top of the gate installed in the camera. I will be offering TWO motors for the camera both of which are constant speed motors. I will offering up TWO 400ft magazines. I will also include some power cords and a CINE 60 belt. I can provide pictures and can schedule a video conference if your inclined. I also have other spare gates for ARRIFLEX IIC cameras such as 1:37 / 1:85 / 1:66 I am will be listing various film gear as I purge. If your interested please PM #shootfilm p.s I can ship worldwide
  10. $750 Or Best Offer. If you own an Arri 3C and want to shoot anamorphic, this is something you'll want. You can shoot spherical, or flip a switch and the optics will desqueeze the anamorphic image so you don't have to frame up your image with everyone looking skinny. A very rare door, unique to the 3C, so certainly nice to have if you ever want to shoot anamorphic on this camera. Thanks, Rich
  11. $1,000 Or Best Offer. This item is currently located with a friend in North Hollywood, CA. I'm based in Brooklyn, NY. For sale is this very rare Arri 3C Crystal Pistolgrip Motor. It's in very good condition for it's age. These were only made circa 1982 for the Arri 3C, but are compatible with the 2C as well. 24 or 25 fps crystal switchable. Or, switch to variable mode (non-crystal) for other speeds. I was told the 4-pin port is for connecting a speed controller for getting crystal sync at other speeds. Runs forwards or reverse (via switch). Powers from 12V 4-pin XLR connector. No power cable included. The motor has captive screws for attaching to your 2C or 3C. Needed phenolic gear is also included. Photos: https://flic.kr/s/aHskUsmaU7 Thanks, Rich
  12. $500, Or Best Offer. A set of two very rare 400' Fromm Shoulder Mags. For Arri 35mm 2C or 3C. Previously owned by Ron Dexter (see pics). I didn't buy them from Ron, but from an Operator in Los Angeles in 2009 as part of a 3C kit which has just sold. Tested/checked out by a technician when I bought them but have not been used. Comes with two spare drive belts and one shoulder bracket that attaches under the mag. NO CASE included. Will not sell one, only selling as a set of two. These are currently in Secaucus, NJ. May be able to meet a buyer with them in Brooklyn or Manhattan to exchange for cash if you don't want to go to Jersey.
  13. I just bought a motor for my Arriflex 2b. It is an Arriflex 24f constant speed motor. When I held the two together, the gear in the center of the motor and the gear in the camera are nowhere near each other, and it looks like there is another gear that is missing. I noticed the cine60 base has an intermediate composite gear, is this the same case in the Arri motor? Can I still purchase one of these gears should they exist? Thanks, Max May DP and Writer: Buteo-Gallus Films
  14. I purchased this Arri 3C in the Otto Nemenz auction middle of last year. I did a registration test with good results but have not had a chance to use the camera for anything else due to personal reasons. NOT INCLUDED: Rubber Eyecup, Power cables for camera motors to battery, power or video cables for Sony Color CCD, Balance Plate Top, Dovetail, Rods, Batteries, Lenses, etc. If you're not familiar with the 3C, you could think of it as the final refinement of the 2C before the Arri 35-3 came out. 15. Hi everyone, I'm writing to you because I'd need your hellion my Arri 2C. I just got it and measured the door to see it was Super35 4 perf full aperture but the ground glass has the size of academy anamorphic. It came also with another ground glass, the size of academy anamorphic but with the 1.85 lines. I actually did a test shoot this past without thinking the ground glass would actually be different. So I framed with this academy 1.85 glass to a S35 door. Since it's only a test shoot, it's not too bad but I would love to know your opinion on this one as it seems pretty weird. Any thoughts ? I have a small commercial to come and we need the product to be 1.85 so I was wondering how to frame with this ground glass since I will be doing an extraction from the S35 frame. Thanks so much ! Ben
  16. I purchased this Arri 3C in the big Otto Nemenz auction around the middle of 2012. I did a registration test with good results after buying it but have otherwise not used the camera. 17. Hi all, I'm going to try my best to describe my troubles in hopes that someone will understand what I'm talking about. Basically when I run film through my Arri 2b, the film (or more specifically the perforations) hit against the small knob/gear that says "Fette (Grease)". I don't think it is damaging the film too much, but it just doesn't seem right. Here's a photo of the knob/gear I am talking about. I have a shoot coming up soon, so anyone with insight please let me know ASAP. Thanks
