Premium Member David Mullen ASC Posted November 24, 2015 Premium Member Share Posted November 24, 2015 That 35mm I just shot that wants to do a neg cut and photochemical finish has found that Kodak stopped making black leader necessary for A-B roll cutting; they can only find some small amounts here and there. Does anyone know of a supplier?
Giray Izcan
David, there is a place in Burbank called Christy's Editorial. They have tables and everything you need.
Premium Member Jay Young Posted November 24, 2015 Premium Member Share Posted November 24, 2015 (edited) I just spoke with a supplier in Boston who says Acetate black leader is impossible to find as he spoke with someone last week in California trying to purchase 11,000 feet with no luck anywhere. Apparently 100 foot rolls are hit or miss at most suppliers. Edited November 24, 2015 by Jay Young
Giray Izcan
It might be spelled as Kristy's Editorial.
James Compton
David, I know of a person that makes large orders of the black 35mm leader direct from Kodak. I will send you a PM with the personal contact info.

Site Sponsor Robert Houllahan Posted November 24, 2015 Site Sponsor Share Posted November 24, 2015 A less than ideal but possible solution would be to use 35mm B&W Negative 5222 and flash and develop it.
Gregg MacPherson
Robert, do you know what the black leader is at Christy's. It says it's w/emulsion? http://www.store.christys.net/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=5_25 Thanks.
Site Sponsor Robert Houllahan Posted November 24, 2015 Site Sponsor Share Posted November 24, 2015 I am not sure but it's probably a non photosensitive black dye emulsion.

Gregg MacPherson
hey Dom, Hows the sabatical going? Are you back on the job? I earlier today did a quick search in the forum and found the neg match guy in the UK who bought up all the Kodak USA and UK black leader. But he wasn't selling. I wonder how many million feet the order has to be before Kodak runs a machine? Gregg.
