Premium Member Olle Knutson Posted May 18, 2018 Premium Member Share Posted May 18, 2018 I recently bought this camera and just shot a test. The images didn't really turn out the way I was hoping. This being my first test ever with 16mm I have no idea how to troubleshoot this. Here are the specs: Camera: Ikonoskop A-Cam SP16 Lens: Ikonoskop 9mm f/1.7 Film: Kodak Vision3 50D (Processing was done by Focus Film in Stockholm, Sweden. They are pros and Kodak distributors so im sure they did everything right) I shot two different frame rates, 25 and 37,5. The first clip I think looks sped up and the second two looks fine. The thing is that I am almost 100% sure I shot the first clip 25 fps and the second one 37,5. I did also not expect the camera to not work and therefore unfortunately didnt do a more accurate test than this... So does anyone have an idea of what could've happened? https://vimeo.com/270672860/74a3283c53
Premium Member Dom Jaeger Posted May 18, 2018 Premium Member Share Posted May 18, 2018 Looks like your shutter is out of phase, the film is being exposed during the pulldown.
Pavan Deep
I agree it seems that your shutter is out of sync. http://www.lightbreeze.co.uk/SP%2016%20Synchro.pdf Pav
Mark Dunn
Well, at least you've found out why you need to shoot a test......
Nicholas Kovats
I concur with Don. I must say that experimental filmmakers that I have talked too would love to replicate this effect but cannot do so easily or at all. :)
Bob Hobbs
I've got an ikonoskop Acam aswell. And you need to sync the shutter. The manual has the process and they say to re-sync it after 30 rolls.https://vimeo.com/99134595 This is another acam shooter with work I enjoy, He intentionally shot like this with the acam for a "dreamy" element. Let me know if you need a manual!
