  1. I love Ektachrome stock! I like the lighting. If I was you I would've worked a bit more on the pace and fluidity. There just seems to be a bit too much space in between shots, if you know what I mean. Also, work a bit more on the gunshots effects. They kinda cheapen the rest of the work which is a real shame as it is good. S
  2. Phew, I'm so pleased to read that!! I'm arachnophobic and I have often thought that, life as we know it can be, means that I will probably be offered a fantastic job that would require shooting in a jungle full of spiders. Just for that can I add Watkin to my list! ;) Alongside Rousellot..... S
  3. I use L758 and I love it! Bought it on ebay from a store in HK a fraction of the price that they charge for it in the UK.

  5. I think I would hate to be a director. I certainly do hate it when I have to do it for an indecisive one.........I like storyboards because it helps my communication with all depts and allows for any last minute changes to occur without the most disruption. S
  6. Hey Bobby, Good site and great work mate!! Cheers S
  7. I hear what you are saying there brad but I would never consistently do that for the fact that it would be madness. My reference was more towards if the situation arose where the director wasn't being decisive about that move. At the end of the day I believe that a good cameraman will not only do what he/she is asked to do but also to offer something extra. It has stood me in good stead in the past and I'm sure that it will in the future. S
  8. If a situation comes up like this I usually shoot the 2 angles plus a straight head on shot. In this case if the director by any chance changes his mind she/he's got a shot that will carry him/her to cross the line. S
  9. Ralph, I think that you are kidding yourself if you really believe in what you said. Maybe not at this stage but if you persevere and continue to push yourself then there is no reason why you can't earn a living out of what you do. Our world is tough, but we are not alone! (Sounds like a line out of somewhere :P) Jacqueline, I went to Ravensbourne and although it is different to NFTS I must say that I learnt more from working on shoots than I did at uni. The nfts has got a very good rep but I think where it stands ppl in good stead is the contacts that you walk away with. Most of the ppl in that place today are our industry of tomorrow. Good luck in your choice! S
  10. I still remember sitting in the cinema watching this film....I couldn't even eat my bag of sweets!! :o Would a re-make be out of the question? S
  11. This posting sounds scary....ALARM BELLS RINGIN'!!!! S
  12. Niki, I like your style of writing...it paints a clear picture of what you are going through. And its funny at times... Maybe you should think about writing a diary or memoirs of your experience there.... Good Luck!! S
  13. HAHAHAHAHHAHAHHAAHAHAHHHAHAHAHAHHAHAHA!!!!!!!
  14. Courses can be great....if you find the right place! I would encourage you to try and get on set as a runner, cam trainee etc...and try to build your contacts asap! Good luck! S
  15. I really didn't see it as a pretentious film. I liked the idea. The acting was good , good storyline, true french feel and I also thought that the cinematography(Darius Kondhji(?)) was brilliant. I also would like to add Gandhi to my list....great epic! S
  16. There shouldn't really be that much of a difference..... Saying that there are alot of people out there that don't really realise that their tv settings are completely out!
  17. Found it!! They are a canadian company http://www.flight-logistics.com/Portamount.html Good luck! S
  18. There is a ahock absorbing tripod for lower budget projects. I just can't remember the name!! I think it worked in the same principle as a mono stand....I believe i saw its literature at the bsc show. If anyone else was there and saw it, the picture on leaflet was a guy sitting in a helicopter with a camera on one of these contraptions......... I'm gutted I didn't keep the leaflet as I had a project that could've done with this......anyway, I'm going on a mission to find out via the internet and if I find it I'll get back to you. S
  19. Really nice work David! I particularly like the shot of BB on the funfair ride. As the ride goes around the shadow moves around his face. My least favorite is the spaceship in orbit...... Congrats! S
