  1. haha dont worry.. Im pretty sure my humor radar is worse.. :)
  2. It was a joke.. pertaining to other earlier comments .. :0
  3. Sort of makes my point really.. people dont know the difference.. and in all these pic,s is totally down to grading lighting to suite the scene.. Arri RAW can be made any color .. thats the whole point.. And sorry but I would say RED had plenty of problems with their sensor.. hence the multiple OLPF options.. :)
  4. Red were just trying to make a decent sensor :) Arri have not changed their sensor from the start really..
  5. But that film had alot of post work done..... if there is any yellow in any shot its nothing that really inherent to Alexa.. it would have been graded 10 times till Sunday .. every tiny hue of any colour would be have timed to death..
  6. No sir I haven't seen that film.. I presume the phoney CM,s were very stylized for some reason .. but the eye strain deluxe would not be due to digital or film.. unless it was a look meant to be so.. and can be achieved by either format.. point is if a film is good it matters not the format.. and it never should.. (bad lighting will eye strain deluxe.. love it.. if the DP shoots film or digital ) if you even are thinking about it something is amiss.. Im all for the young turks manning the barricades and loving film.. and lattes :).. Tyler,s banging his empty film cans on the lectern of the high church of film.. its all good fun.. but at the end of the days its bollocks and we just need "good" films.. and if its good enough for Roger Deakins its good enough for you guys :)
  7. Alexa Yellow... ? they shot RAW with alot of post.. surely that would in the grade.. rather than inherent of the Alexa..? or did i miss something there..
  8. Easiest way is to use the preset REC 709/800 MLUT.. P1 I think it is in the MLUT menu (M is for monitor,) in your VF.. and just make it a bit hot.. IMHO
  9. Film is dead.. who needs it.. the only people who love film in this forum are students .. and pixel peeping latte drinkers.. .. anyone who,s cinema experience is destroyed by the format.. should be an accountant .. or go and see better films.. Runs to shelter with tin hat.. :)..
  10. Its RAW so you might as well over expose at least one stop anyway.. tons of data there. 16 bit .. etc..
  11. RAW is always recorded at native ISO on the F55.. 1250.. with the R5 recorder..you can also record internally to SxS cards at the same time.. to which you can apply a LUT or what Sony calls Looks i.e. 3D LUT,s.. or user LUT,s if installed via SD card..
  12. It wasn't a very serious answer.. but I think I have it.. Ann of Green Gables .. <_<
  13. 1,world snooker championship ? slow zoom out ? 2 How green was my valley..
  14. Ari.. I agree re the Avatar winning DP gong.. The voting process as I know it.. is why the actual nomination, voted by ones peers .. is more important that the gong itself.. which is voted by the whole academy .. who yes want to see pretty pictures and don't always have much idea how they were achieved .. Is Roger Deakins now 13 times nominated ..??? something like that..
  15. Thanks for the info.. yes I wouldn't want to put rushes into the hold of a plane.. we would always hand carry or courier .. there are many places in the world where they have no idea of the rules..in fact thanks to the TSA, lithium batteries are now the hardest thing to get onto a plane..very few airports around the world actually know the WH levels to battery rules.. its really down to the person at security check most of the time.. also many places where getting arrested isnt a good idea..you will lose your rushes for good and maybe a rubber glove where you really dont want it. :).. diminishing returns .. Anyway sorry if I offended you re rear gunner.. its a fairly common phrase in the UK ..well of old farts like myself.. to mean something wont last long.. it is meant to be humor .. and in no way disparaging of the armed forces.. or anyone who has lost their live in the film industry.. Good luck to you sir..
  16. You can record 10bit 422 cinema 17-9 (is that what you mean) 4K or 2K with Sony F5 (with 4K upgrade) or the F55.. Fs7 too I think..
  17. For TV I don't think much is being delivered 4K.. some people what to future proof their programs.. but in my experience its mostly for re framing.. wide, tight etc.. some small moves .. stabilizing etc.. in corporate video shoots..
  18. Ari .. you have misunderstood that rear gunner "joke".. it pertains to the fact.. if you want to exclusively be a film loader.. your career might be short .. because less and less is being shot on film.. there is no disrespect to anyone.. If you are just doing 2 copies probably you are not working on big projects.. where 3 is a minimum and there is alot more than just copying cards.. loading mags is not really any more skilled than managing alot of cards on a big production.. Im not sure what you see as the big difference.. BTW putting film through a couple of X-rays will be fine.. its a accumulative process.. Ive put film through Xray quite a few times.. some airports will actually demand it..and there s a guy pointing a gun at you you put it through the machine.. it would have to go through quite a few to have any effect.. Good luck with your career ..
  19. Manchester....stolen off an American shoot for sure .. :)
  20. oh yeah sure.. I meant only the internal recording.. sorry not trying to dis the F3 at all.. Ive used it in the past.. great image.. just wish it had a decent EVF.. and 50 Mbps internal for broadcast.. back in the day..
